Abstract

The values of divinity and humanity are two aspects cannot be separated in living religion. The presence of God in every human being is a necessity and can undeniable. Meanwhile, people are also individuals who connected from other humans, because humans are social creatures. Therefore, faith must be proportional to the good deeds. Transgender as part of social life is also trying to prove them self as being godless creatures and social beings. The purpose is realized by establishing special schools transgender (pesantren waria). Pesantren founded in Yogyakarta became the fi rst transgender pesantren in Indonesia and even in the world. In the midst of the claim, transgender is a sinner ungrateful creature nature. Transgender showed up with his spiritual experience. Experiences are certainly cannot be equated with spiritual experiences that experienced by a kiyai, santri, scholars. They are regarded righteous in the eyes of society. Through this article, the author will try to give an idea of the spiritual experience of transgender in religion. Through this article, the author does not want to judge and claim their religious pattern of right or wrong. As well as this article, is expected to add a new discourse for the reader about the spirit and transgender spiritual experience. So, it can open a religious pattern that is more inclusive and open. Abstract

The problem of the veil remains a controversial issue that requires ongoing debate. This is inevitable because  the use or wearing of a veil is closely associated with culture. In terms of etymology, the term hijab was not known in Indonesia until the coming of Islam. In the history of Indonesia, females are more familiar with the term kerudung than jilbab (both meaning veil). In the contemporary era, however, the term jilbab is arguably also marginalized by the term hijab. This word shift must have been influenced by the local culture. If the term can shift, so too can the meaning of its functions and benefits. Through this article, the author tries to read the veil from its shifting meanings and functions. For Roland Barthes the shift in meaning is called myth. It is very interesting to present the veil from the perspective of mythology, so that at a glance we can see the shift in the meaning of the veil in the Muslim community, ranging from a status symbol from the pre-Islamic era to the time of the Prophet, and now to a symbol of piety and  lifestyle.

Abstract

Hadith as the second source of law in Islam, always will continue to get the spotlight or study that develops according to the times. Although the hadith is seen as the second source of law, the position of hadith is still very central in shaping the religious understanding of a particular person or group. It can even surpass the portion of the Qur’an as the main and principal source. This sides of the Hadith are regarded as explanations or details of the Qur’an. With such a very central position, then the study of hadith also experienced the development. For example, the development of Muhammad al-Ghazali. In this case, he tries to progressive in understanding the hadith, so what he does is not uncommon to get censured, and sharp criticism. This progressiveness he did with the aim of shaping the understanding of traditions that more adjust the times, or the demands of the international world. So that the teachings of Islam are considered highly relevant to the development of the times. Through this article, the author tries to explain how the pregresivitas thought of Muhammad al-Ghazali. The thought of alGhazali is based on personal anxiety and an awareness of the history and reality that is afflicting Muslims and Islamic countries that are always under the control and control of Western nations. How the thoughts and solutions offered by al-Ghazali in understanding hadith is necessary to be studied, so that the understanding of hadith in contemporary times is more significant and relevant to modern social conditions.

Abstract

Family is the most urgent aspect of the life of every human being. Since, the family is first community that be obtained by each individual and the first community influencing patterns and lifestyles. Likewise for transgender (waria), the family actually became the basis foundation of their life expectancy. Because a transgender (waria), essentially already experiencing inner conflict since he felt the strangeness or different situations with others. Only, when the inner conflict unfinished openly expressed heard, their courage to open up as a transgender (waria), got the hard rejection. Through this article, the author will give an idea, how the transgender desperately need the presence of family in their lives. In addition, this article also give an understanding of the existence of transgender pesantren (pesantren), and transgender understanding of itself. Thus, expected to open up space for dialogue wider for them.

Abstract

The essence of religion is sacral and holy, but the problems and conflicts will arise when the understanding of religion is also considered sacred and holy by his followers. Resulting in a gray zone or obscurity between religion and religious thought. Therefore, through this article the author will explain how religion can be a scary and dangerous figure, or even become a terrible humanitarian disaster. In short, this kind of thing happens by nature and attitude of religious exclusiveness that leads to truth claims and at the same time accuse others as a heretic, infidel and must be fought. Through this same article, the authors provide a solution for the disaster, is to revive the culture or civilization religious dialogue, and openness in accepting differences, even more than just openness, every religious believer expected to have an ideology of pluralism.

Abstract

Setiap agama selalu identik dengan ritualnya masing-masing. Namun, secara keseluruhan ritual tersebut bertujuan untuk menghayati kehadiran Tuhan, serta menangani kehidupan sosial. Dalam Islam, semua jenis ritual yang dikenal sebagai lima rukun Islam, seperti dalam hadist dari nabi, mulai dari syahadat, sholat, puasa, zakat dan Haji. Namun, rukun Islam hanya dimaksudkan sebagai media bagi terciptanya hubungan antara individu dengan Tuhan, sehingga keluar dari aspek sosial yang dikenal dengan perbuatan baik. Dengan kata lain, semua jenis ritual keagamaan menjadi masuk akal dan tidak nyata. Di dalam AlQur'an sendiri, iman kepada Allah harus diwujudkan dalam bentuk ritual yang bertalian langsung dengan aspek kesalehan sosial. Melalui artikel ini, penulis mencoba menjelaskan konsep ritual, dalam hal ini rukun Islam yang lebih sosial, sehingga dengan penghargaan terhadap semua ritual, mungkin membuat pribadi menjadi humanis, dan pada gilirannya pribadi humanis akan menciptakan masyarakat humanis. Every religion is always identical to its respective rituals. But, the overall aim to live up to God's presence, as well as handle the social life. In Islam, all forms of ritual known as the five pillars of Islam, as in the hadith of the Prophet. Starting from the creed, pray, fasting, zakat and hajj. However, the pillars of Islam are only meant as the medium in individual relationships with God, so that escape from the social aspect known by the good deeds. In other words, all forms of religious ritual becomes absurd and unreal. In the Qur‟an itself, faith in God should be manifested in the form of ritual is directly proportional to social righteousness or piety. Through this article, the author will try to explain the concept of ritual, in this case the pillars of Islam are more social, so with appreciation towards all rituals, it is possible create humanist personal, and the humanist personal createng humanist society towards civil society.

Abstract

Kepemimpinan profetik pada peradaban modern ini, masih menjadi sesuatu yang urgen dan signifikan untuk dikaji dan kemudian diaplikasikan kembali. Keberhasilan Nabi Muhammad saw. dalam membangun peradaban dan transformasi sosial di semenanjung Arabia menjadi sebuah kegemilangan luar biasa, tidak hanya di mata kalangan orang-orang Islam, namun juga di mata kalangan orang-orang non muslim. Dalam artikel ini, penulis melihat setidaknya ada dua hal besar yang dilakukan oleh Rasul dalam membangun peradaban, yaitu peradaban iqra yang dimulai sejak wahyu pertama turun, dan dialektika agama yang dilakukan sejak di Madinah yang termaktub dalam Piagam Madinah. Selanjutnya, kedudukan manusia sebagai khalifah secara nilai sudah saatnya kembali menghayati dua aspek yang dibangun oleh Rasul 14 abad yang lalu. Sehingga tercipta khalifah atau wakil Tuhan yang bebas dari taklid buta dan mistik, serta mampu menghadapi realitas perubahan sosial dengan menciptakan peradaban dialogis dan dialektis. Prophetic leadership in modern civilization, is still something urgent and significant to be studied and than to be contextualized. Prophet Muhammad’s success in building civilization and social transformation in the Arabian Peninsula into an extraordinary glories, not only in the eyes of the muslims, but also in the eyes of the non-muslims. In this article, the writer saw at least two of the great things done by the apostle in building a civilization namely that iqra civilization first which started since the very first revelation, and religious dialectic which was rooted in Charter of Medina. Furthermore, the position of caliph in humans as it was time to re-live the values of the two aspects introduced by the apostle 14 centuries ago. So as to create caliphs or representatives of God that are free from blind obedience and mystique, and able to face the reality of social change by creating a communicative and dialectical culture.
