Abstract

Non-formal education supervisors play an important role in providing and developing quality non-formal education. As their career development is based on their professional performance regulated in a credit system, many of the supervisors face hindrance to complete the requirement with the existing situation. This research introduces a model of supervisor’s competence development resulted from a research conducted in five districts in Central Java involving a number of non-formal education supervisor. The model was developed on the bases of supervisor’s competence mapping.

Abstract

The success of a Learning Activity Center much depends on the tutors’ competence and creativity. This articles discusses some variables influencing the tutors’ performance and puts forward a number of suggestions to improve the tutors’ performance.

Abstract

Teacher’s creativity in identifying and determining kinds of games appropriate to meet their children’s needs is required to enable him/her to motivate them to be free from their parents or nurses. How to get the children free from their parents or nurses and to get them into the activitives in the playgroup become a problem for the teacher. This research assumed that this problem could be solved by selecting approprate games for the children. The purposes of this research were to identify the kinds of games and discover the appropriate ones to keep the children free from their parents. Exploring the facts in three play groups (Tunas Bangsa, BBC Kid’s Center, and Anak Cerdas) in Semarang, the research discovered a number of games and the appropriate ones to motivate the children to join the activities in the play group. Based on the analysis, the research gave the teachers some recommendations in using the selected games.

Abstract

Tutors play an important role in executing Non-formal and Informal Education program at Learning Activities Center, Therefore, technical orientation activities are organized to improve the tutors’ ability to manage equivalency education. This research was conducted to obtain complete data and information needed to present a clear and complete description of the implementation of technical orientation program in P2PNFI Regional II, Semarang. To meet its objective, this research employed mixed method. Quantitative was used to obtain the tutors’ competence in managing equivalency education after they were given technical orientation. Qualitative method was used to describe the implementation of technical orientation in equivalency education. The result of the research indicates the technical orientation program has improved the competence of Learning Activities Center tutors.

Abstract

This research aimed to know if in Samin community reading and writing skills of literacy education participants taught with intensive bilingual method are better than those taught with SAS method. The research conducted in Tanduran Village Blora Regency in 2010, involved 40 research subjects comprising 20 subjects for experimental group with intensive bilingual method and 20 subjects with SAS method for controlling group. The data obtained were analyzed in two stages i.e. in the preliminary analysis and in hypothesis testing. The result of the research indicates, the reading and writing skills of literacy education participants in Samin community taught with intensive bilingual method are better than those taught wit SAS method.
