Abstract

Abstract People need to learn writing in English for occupational or academic purpose to write well, students must have good capabilities in writing process and aspects of writing. The purposes of the research are: to improve PPIE technique for the students writing skill in Narrative text. And to know the students’ response of PPIE Technique in Narrative text. Qualitative and quantitative research methodology were combined by the researcher. In qualitative, the researcher used questionnaires, observation sheet as instrument of the research to observe and learn. Based on the quantitative research methodology, the researcher and teacher gave post-tes. The result of observation sheet for the teachers performance in cycle 1 had the mean score was about 67.84% . In cycle 2 showed that the the mean score was about 83.14%. The result of observation sheet for the students’ activities in cycle 1 the mean score was 52.54%. In second cycle mean score was 75.68%. The total score on questionaires about 12.99 and average score about 3.24. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the PPIE technique could improve the students’ ability in writing skill.

Abstract

The research of using word search puzzle game in developing the students’ reading comprehension has been done at SMA Negeri 1 Samalanga, Bireuen District. It was begun from August 8th 2020 until August 27th 2020.The scope of this research focus on escalation reading comprehension on narrative text by using word search puzzle game. This research is designed as collaborative classroom action research with four steps, namely: planning the action, implementing the action, observing the action, and reflecting the action and has two cycles. There are four kinds of instruments which use to collect the data needed in this research, namely: observation checklist for the teacher and the students, test that consist of pre-test and post-test, questionnaires, and field note. The data has been collected and was analyzed through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The research was conducted for the second-year students. The number of samples are 20 students. The data analysis showed that the mean score of students in post-test in cycle is 58,5, although the mean score has not achieved the criteria of success, but it showed that a significant difference with the pre- test, the score in pre-test was 56. Because the criteria of success have not been achieved in cycle I, the researcher continued the second cycle to get an optimal result for the students’ achievement. The result showed that the score of the students in post-test in cycle II was 79. Its mean that the research was success. Based on the evidence, it could be concluded that word search puzzle game could be used in the teaching reading comprehension to improving the students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

The tittle of this thesis is Upgrading the Students’ Ability in Writing Skill through Implementation of Directive Feedback Method to the second years students of SMAN 1 Peudada (A collaborative Classroom Action Research). The researcher put two problems of this research question as follows: first, how can the Directive Feedback Method upgrade the second-year students of SMAN 1 Peudada in writing skill? Second, how do the students respond toward the implementation Directive Feedback Method in learning writing skill? The purpose of this research were: first, to know the Directive Feedback Method upgrade the second year students of SMAN 1 Peudada in writing skill. Second, to indicate the student’s response toward the implementation Directive Feedback Method in learning writing skill. This research was a collaborative classroom action research. The research subject was the second years students’ students of SMAN 1 Peudada. The sample of this research was 25 students. The data was collected through the field note, writing test, student’s observation checklist, teacher’s observation checklist and questionnaire. The data was analyzed through the descriptive qualitative research. After the researcher was done all the steps of action research (cycle I and cycle II) the students’ mean score increased from 61 in cycle I and became 76 in cycle II. Besides, from the observation checklist to the students’ activity, it was found that the percentage of the students’ participation during teaching learning process in writing class increased gradually. It was proved by the result of the observation checklist were taken at the beginning of cycle I, the percentage of the students’ participation was only 50 and became 62 in cycle II. And also, the list of questionnaires given to the students indicates that the student had positive respond toward the implementation of Directive Feedback Method in writing class. It was provided by overall mean score 31,52 that was categorized to the level of Agree.
