Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify, analyze, and describe the cooperation between the Christian education teachers and the parents in building the students’ character. This research is a descriptive qualitative research conducted at the Middle School 1, East Amurang in 2020. The data were collected through observation, interviews and documentary study. The results of the analysis and interpretation of the data indicated that: (1). The collaboration between the Christian education teachers and the parents of the students was not optimal; the cooperation that was built was only at school meetings, taking students’ transcripts, and parents' summons when students violated school rules. The parents sometimes did not attend the meetings, even at times picking up students’ transcripts was represented and there was no initiative to contact the Christian education teachers. (2). The supporting factor was the school, namely the teachers of other subjects, the principal and also the school committee who were engaged with the parents. As the inhibiting factor was that of the Christian education teachers themselves, as well as the parents of the students who did not care about the condition of the students. (3). The Christian education teachers in building the character of the students taught in the classroom, gave directions and motivation to the students, coordinated and cooperated with the parents in spite of suboptimality, carried out extracurricular activities and spiritual activities at the school. Meanwhile, the parents at home gave advice and reminded their children to participate in worship services.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to Analyse the Effectiveness of Children’s Christian Education for Congregational Growth. Children’s Christian Education is pivotal in church services for the reason it will make an impact on congregational growth both in quality and quantity. The research is qualitative research, the subject is the church pastor, children and parents’ minister. Data are collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results showed that there were three models of Children’s Education, namely Sunday School, Children’s Worship Service. The factors inhibiting the effectiveness of the internal factor are children’s minister shortage, lack of means of transportation and the infrastructure is inadequate. Whilst externally, the factors are the church is not accepted by the society altogether and the Covid-19 Pandemic. This research is expected to provide broaden awareness to Church Pastors and Children’s Ministers who are involved in Children’s Christian Education and churches in an endeavour to enhance the effectiveness of children’s Christian education for congregational growth

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the learning strategy of Christian education in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic. This research uses qualitative approach by using data collection techniques, the instrument use for this research are as follow (1) Observation (2) Interview (3) Ducument study. In analyzing data, the researcher takes the steps of (1) data collection, (2) data categories, (3) data reduction, (4) data display, (5) drawing conclusion. Based on the result, shows that (1) Online learning is done with access to existing technology media such as googlemeet, zoom, google classroom, google form, and whatsapp groups (2) Christian education learning in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic did not run well and was less effective because there were obstacles experienced and could not control the children. Children’s learning activities at home really need parental attention, therefore parents must be sensitive to the child’s condition in the learning process so that when there is attention from parents, parents will direct and guide children in receiving material.
