Abstract

Ikan bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) termasuk ke dalam famili Telmatherinidae, bersifat endemik di Danau Towuti dan Danau Mahalona. Ikan ini tergolong rawan punah (vulnerable species). Penurunan stok ikan tersebut dikhawatirkan terjadi di alam, hal tersebut selain karena tingkat eksploitasi yang meningkat juga karena penurunan kualitas habitat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji parameter pertumbuhan, umur, dan mortalitas ikan bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) sebagai dasar perumusan dalam pengelolaan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di perairan Danau Towuti. Contoh ikan diperoleh menggunakan jaring insang eksperimental dengan ukuran mata jaring 5/8, 3/4, 1, dan 1 1/4 inci di 5 stasiun dari bulan Mei 2006 sampai dengan April 2007. Penghitungan pertumbuhan, umur, dan mortalitas ikan dilakukan berdasarkan pada frekuensi ukuran panjang total. Data dianalisis menggunakan soft ware FiSAT II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai parameter pertumbuhan pada ikan jantan dan betina masing-masing L¥=20,05 dan 20,45 cm; K=1,70 dan 2,00 per tahun; dan to=-0,02 dan -0,01 tahun. Panjang dan umur ikan jantan dan betina yang tertangkap masing-masing 3,80 sampai dengan 19,78 cm (0,29 sampai dengan 32,44 bulan) dan 4,68 sampai dengan 18,33 cm (0,59 sampai dengan 8,60 bulan). Ukuran ikan jantan dan betina matang gonad dengan peluang 50% adalah 16,78 cm (11,78 bulan) dan 14,61 cm (5,18 bulan). Terdapat 2 kohort ikan bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) pada bulan Nopember. Puncak pemijahan diperkirakan terjadi pada bulan Nopember. Laju mortalitas total (Z), laju mortalitas alami (M), dan laju mortalitas karena penangkapan (F) pada ikan jantan dan betina masing-masing 6,32 dan 7,32; 2,89 dan 3,20; dan 3,43 dan 4,12 per tahun. Tingkat pemanfaatan stok ikan bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) di Danau Towuti ada indikasi kelebihan tangkap baik pada ikan jantan (E=0,54) maupun ikan betina (E=0,56). Bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) that belong to family Telmatherinidae, is an endemic fish species in Lake Towuti and Lake Mahalona. This fish is vulnerable species and its population tend to decrease due to intensive fishing and habitat quality deterioration. This study was aimed to reveal the growth parameters, age, and mortality of bonti bonti (Paratherina striata) as the foundation for its management. The study was conducted in Lake of Towuti, South Sulawesi. Samples were collected using experimental gill net with mesh sized of 5/8, 3/4, 1, and 1 1/4 inches in five stations from May 2006 to April 2007. Growth, age, and fish mortality were calculated based on total length frequency data using FiSAT II software. Result shows that growth parameters value of male and female L¥=20.05 and 20.45 cm; K=1.70 and 2.00 per year; and to=-0.02 and -0.01 year, respectively. Length and age of male and female of fish capture were 3.80 to 19.78 cm (0.29 to 32.44 month) and 4.68 to 18.33 cm (0.59 to 8.60 month). Male and female reached 50% gonad maturity at the size of 16.78 cm (11.78 month) and 14.61 cm (5.18 month). There are two cohorts of bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) in November. The peak spawning season of the fish was predicted occured in November. Total mortality rate, natural mortality rate, and fishing mortality rate of male and female were 6.32 and 7.32; 2.89 and 3.20; and 3.43 and 4.12 per year, respectively. Exploitation level of bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) stock in Lake Towuti indicate a situation where over fishing (male E=0.54 and female E=0.56) occur.

Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan pada tahun 2004 - 2006 di Danau Semayang dan Muara Kaman (bagian dari Sungai Mahakam), Kalimantan Timur, melalui survei lapangan dan wawancara langsung dengan nelayan, masyarakat, dan Dinas Perikanan, Dinas Perlindungan Hutan dan Pelestarian Alam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penyebaran secara spasial, status pemanfaatan, dan upaya konservasi pesut Mahakam (Orcaella brevirostris). Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa distribusi pesut Mahakam secara spasial terdapat di Muara Kaman, Muara Sungai Pela Kecil, muara Sungai Pela Besar, Danau Semayang, dan Danau Melintang. Pada saat ini, pesut Mahakam di Sungai Mahakam digunakan sebagai wisata air bagi turis domestik maupun luar negeri. Upaya konservasi pesut Mahakan dapat dilakukan melalui perlindungan habitat dari pencemaran dan pendangkalan, perlindungan suaka perikanan yang berfungsi untuk penyedia makanan alami serta meningkatkan peran aktif masyarakat agar turut menjaga kelestarian pesut. This study was conducted during 2004 to 2006 in Semayang and Melintang Lakes, Mahakam segment around Muara Kaman River of East Kalimantan, through field survey methods, and directly interview to respective respondens of fishers, local people, Fisheries Regency Departement and Forest Protection and Natural Resources Conservation. The objective of the study was to elucidate the distribution spasial, utilization status, and conservation effort of freshwater dolphin (Orcaella brevirostris). Results show that the spasial distributions of freshwater dolphin were found in Kaman, Pela Kecil, Bank of Pela Besar Rivers, Semayang, and Melintang Lakes. Freshwater dolphines was used as echotourism for local and foreign tourisms. There are some efforts to conserve of freshwater dolphin in the East Kalimantan, namely habitat protection from pollution and sedimentation, fisheries area protection for providing natural food and to increase local people role in conserving the existence of these animals.

Abstract

Ikan bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata) selain endemik, statusnya tergolong rawan punah (vulnerable species) dan hanya terdapat di Danau Towuti dan Danau Mahalona. Masyarakat di sekitar danau memanfaatkan ikan ini sebagai ikan konsumsi, ikan hias, dan bahan pakan hewan. Populasi ikan ini dikhawatirkan mengalami penurunan, diduga karena degradasi kualitas lingkungan dan penangkapan ikan yang cenderung intensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi rekrut ikan bonti-bonti sebagai dasar pengelolaannya. Pengamatan dilakukan di Danau Towuti setiap bulan selama 12 bulan dari bulan Mei 2006-April 2007. Contoh ikan diperoleh menggunakan jaring insang eksperimental dengan ukuran mata jaring 0,625, 0,75, 1,0, dan 1,25 inci yang dioperasikan di lima stasiun (Tanjung Bakara; inlet Danau Towuti; Pulau Loeha; outlet Danau Towuti dan Beau). Potensi rekrut ikan dapat dilihat dari nisbah kelamin, diameter telur, fekunditas, dan indeks kematangan gonad. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa nisbah kelamin total ikan bonti-bonti jantan dan betina 1,0:0,9. Fekunditasikan bonti-bonti 818-6.051 butir. Diameter telur ikan bonti-bonti berkisar antara 0,01-1,50 mm. Nilai indeks kematangan gonad ikan bonti-bonti jantan dan betina paling tinggi dijumpai di stasiun II, masing-masing 3,96 dan 6,77%. Ditinjau dari fekunditas, potensi rekrut ikan bonti-bonti lebih tinggi dibandingkan ikan Telmatherinidae lain. Secara temporal, nilai rata-rata indeks kematangan gonad tertinggi pada ikan jantan terjadi pada bulan Mei dan Nopember dengan nilai 2,09±1,36% dan 1,85±1,06%, demikian pula pada ikan betina dengan nilai 3,39±1,47 dan 3,47±1,37%. Rekruitmen ikan bonti-bonti terjadi setiap bulan dengan periode tertinggi antara bulan Oktober-Nopember. Bonti-bonti (Paratherina striata), is one of endemic and vulnerable fish in Lake Towuti and Mahalona. Bonti-bonti have been utilized by people around the lake as consumption fish; ornamental fish and as raw material for animal feed. The population tend to decrease due to environmental quality deterioration and increasing exploitation. This study was aimed to reveal the recruit potential of bontibonti as the foundation for its management. This research was conducted in Lake Towuti, South Sulawesi from May 2006 to April 2007. Samples were collected monthly at five stations (Tanjung Bakara; Inlet of Lake Towuti; Pulau Loeha; Outlet of Lake Towuti, and Beau) using experimental gillnet sized 0.625, 0.75, 1.0, and 1.25 inches. Recruitment potential could be evaluated from sex ratio, egg diameter, fecundity, and gonad maturity index. Total sex ratio of male and female bonti-bonti are 1.0:0.9. Fecundity of bonti-bonti are 818-6.051. Egg diameter of bonti-bonti range from 0.01-1.50 mm. Gonad maturity index value of male and female was found highest at station II (inlet of Lake Towuti) as high as 3.96 and 6.77% respectively. Based on fecundity, recruitment potential of bontibonti is higher compared to the other Telmatherinid. Temporally, the average value of gonad maturity index was found highest on male in May and November with the values of 2.09±1.36% and 1.85±1.06%, and for female with the values of 3.39±1.47 and 3.47±1.37%. Fish recruitment occured each month with the highest period occur in October-November.
