Abstract

Cognitive radio is a technology which will enable the use of a limited spectrum optimally. Devices implemented with cognitive radio capability is referred as White Space Device (WSD) as they can identify and utilize idle channels. This paper investigates the interference potential between aeronautical radio navigation services and WSD as they co-exist in the 960 MHz spectrum using Minimum Coupling Loss (MCL) formulae and simulations using Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT). Results show that the permissible interference level is -81,589 dBm which is achievable if the two systems are separated by 36 km. Decreasing the WSD power level or increasing the RSBN gain by 1 dBm can decrease the protection distance between the two systems to 30 km to achieve an interference probability of 3,55% and 3,6%, respectively. Keywords: white space devices, interference, aeronautical radio navigation

Abstract

Abstract

MTS Tarbiyatul Falah is a junior high school educational institution that organizes a madrasah-level education program that follows the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia where one of its extracurricular activities is the introduction of basic electronics to students. For that, the urgency of this community service activity is to provide training to teachers at MTS Tarbiyatul Falah to be able to design and realize a temperature control circuit based on Arduino Uno. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide training in the use of tinkercad for basic Arduino programming in order to improve teachers' knowledge in providing materials, especially in the field of electronics. From this activity, the ability and understanding of the training participants increased from 56 to 90 based on the pre-test and post-test. In addition, the satisfaction of the training participants was also very high as shown based on the results of the questionnaire where the average satisfaction was 95%. Therefore, this activity is very useful especially for improving the ability of MTS teachers in designing electronic circuits using Arduino Uno.

Abstract

The increasing number of users in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network often decreases network performance. A cell that has high traffic experiences a decline in network performance due to unavailable resources for certain users, while in cells with low traffic, the use of resources in these cells is inefficient. The mobility load balancing (MLB) algorithm balances the intercellular loads in an LTE network and improves the performance by distributing part of the load in a high traffic cell to neighboring cells that have low loads. An activated MLB will detect the network load and calculate the available resource for each cell to determine which cells are overloaded. The MLB will consider the candidate cell where the load could be distributed. MLB simulation results show that the application of MLB has succeeded in reducing the percentage of unsatisfied users by 9.4% and increasing throughput system to 5.617 Mbps.
