Abstract

Character education is necessary to be seriously concern in facing modernization. It is believed that character is one of elements to reach the aims of education. Precisely, education is an effort to form inner strength, behavior, as well mind. This article focuses on method and strategy to build the character which subsequently build personality refers to the Islamic fundamental sources namely as being commanded by Allah through His Prophet. There are some ways being introduced in the article to form good personality through building character optimally. First is to infuse positive thinking upon Allah as the Creator of good and bad personality. Second, good personality could only be reached by strongly cling to values as it was conducted by the Prophet. Third is inculcating simple act though it may seem elementary but key factor in forming one's character which subsequently form one's personality.

The kinds of strategies used by EFL students of English Education Department Ar-Raniry year of 2016 in reducing their stress in English speaking performances are expected to be used as a solution for the other EFL students in overcoming the anxiety in English speaking. The study is a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The respondents of this study were 27 students of unit 02 English Education Department of Ar-Raniry year of 2016. The data obtained through a questionnaire. The items in the questionnaire adapted from Kondo and Ying-Ling (2004) and Robin K. Buchler (2013) research frameworks. The findings show the students cope with their anxiety by using some strategies, such as; Positive Thinking, Resignation, Peer seeking, Preparation, and Relaxation. The most strategy used by students is Preparation strategy, where the total number of them were used it. All of the strategies are expected can be used as the problem solver for the other EFL student.

Abstract

The acquisition of vocabulary significantly impacts language learning since it serves as the foundation for developing linguistic abilities. As a result, instructors must provide students with a contextual framework and various media resources to help them build an extensive understanding of language usage. Using information and communication technology (ICT) in the classroom can maximise student learning by maximising their potential (Adisti, 2018). The Busuu language learning application is one of the online learning resources available. The researchers goal in this study is to examine at how the Busuu language learning application affects vocabulary acquisition among students in a vocational school in Aceh, Indonesia. A quantitative research approach was used, utilizing a survey questionnaire and experimental teaching. Purposive sampling was employed to select 30 students from the Business and Marketing class to participate in the research. The findings indicate that students, performance in acquiring new English vocabulary improved significantly following the intervention. The pre-test results, averaging 6.86, and the post-test, averaging 9.9, show a 3.03 improvement. The Busuu application also received favourable feedback from research participants, who found it to be enjoyable and educational.
