Abstract

Tajweed is the science of reading the Qur'an, which is urgently taught to students to avoid mistakes when reading or reciting it. However, learning tajweed is quite complicated. Game-based learning media are very suitable for development, especially for students at the concrete operational stage, to facilitate understanding of tajwid. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop Ludo Lintas Tajweed (Lolita) using the Hannafin and Peck model, which consists of three phases: analysis, design, and development/implementation. The model also emphasizes an iterative approach, which is essential to ensure that the product or program developed meets users' needs and effectively achieves them. Descriptive analysis was conducted to describe each phase of media development, while percentage analysis was carried out to analyze the media validation from the subject experts and students' responses. The results showed that the development process of Lolita, a game-based learning media, has been in accordance with the Hannafin and Peck phase and is feasible to develop with media validation (88%), content validation (90.7%), language validation (80%), small group validation (100%), and large group validation (98.5%).

Abstract

Education is a road map of the nation's development, conveying the value of society and the purpose of the nation, where both formulas are invested in curricula. Poverty is a real challenge for education development, and it can be considered a direct result of collective leadership failure in the provision of both quality education and welfare support. This study examines a social collaborative action served by the community to provide an equal education for vulnerable children, a part of a solidarity coping strategy for poverty reduction. The samples of this qualitative approach study are social workers from Yayasan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat Aceh (Yakesma/Aceh Welfare Foundation), who initiates a social collaborative action, involving society, educators, and other stakeholders in various role-play. This study proves that combined actions of social workers, educators, and society in providing equal education to children from lower-income families, beggars, and sexual violence, have given a significant impact on the children and families, giving more access the children to have proper education, formal and non-formal education, financial support through a foster parent program, and provides a role substitute of parents. This collaborative program has created a parthway to a proverty reducation in Aceh, Indonesia. A part of the institution’s main goal to support the vulnerable children in Aceh.

Abstract

The pedagogical imperative to enhance Tajweed proficiency, a fundamental Islamic educational tenet, necessitates innovative teaching methodologies, especially for learners at the concrete operational stage. This study introduces "Ludo Listas Tajwid" (Lolita), a pioneering game-based educational media designed to ameliorate the learning trajectory of Tajweed. The research developed and evaluated Lolita to ascertain its efficacy and applicability in the pedagogical domain of Quranic recitation. Utilizing the Research and Development (R&D) approach, underpinned by the Hannafin and Peck model, the study meticulously orchestrated the media development phases, incorporating design, development, and evaluation stages. The methodology entailed a comprehensive descriptive data analysis to delineate the media development steps and substantiate its educational value. This iterative process facilitated the refinement and validation of Lolita, ensuring its alignment with educational standards and learning objectives. The findings revealed that Lolita substantially ameliorated the Tajweed learning experience, evidenced by high validation scores: 88% for media, 90.7% for content, and 80% for language proficiency. These metrics underscore the media's pedagogical soundness and its consonance with Tajweed learning objectives. The implications of this research are multifaceted, extending beyond the immediate educational setting. Lolita's success illustrates the potential of game-based learning platforms in engaging students more effectively in religious education, thereby enhancing their learning outcomes. However, the study acknowledges its limitations, including the specific focus on learners in the concrete operational stage and the need for broader empirical validation across varied educational contexts.. The study recommends further research to explore Lolita's scalability and its impact on long-term learning outcomes, aiming to establish a robust evidence base for game-based learning in religious education.

Abstract

Building mutual understanding among people of different religions is crucial in anticipating issues arising from individual religious identities. The concept of love, as viewed by Jalaluddin Rumi, can serve as a medium for nurturing interfaith peace. Rumi believed that love is at the core of human existence and emphasized its power in achieving tranquility. Through Rumi’s teachings, we gain an understanding of the significance of compassionate love in fostering mutual understanding and respect among different faiths. This article delves into Rumi’s life and works, highlighting his contributions to Sufism and his unique perspective on love. Furthermore, it delves deeper into Rumi’s concept of love. The aim of this paper is to contribute to the field of interfaith studies by exploring the potential of Rumi’s concept of love to promote mutual understanding and respect among religions through poetry and Rumi’s teachings. The research employs a qualitative method, specifically a literature review, drawing data from various references, books, and articles related to Rumi’s works and thoughts, particularly those discussing the concept of love. The findings reveal that Rumi’s concept of love can serve as a medium for addressing religious conflicts and building a more peaceful world. By embracing Rumi’s teachings on love, we learn to see beyond our differences and connect with each other at a deeper level.

Abstract

The increasing incidence of violence against children, especially cases of sexual violence in Aceh, has raised questions about the performance of the Aceh government stakeholders in handling this case. Based on this, this study seeks to examine: 1) the efforts having been made by the Aceh government in dealing with cases of sexual violence against children and 2) the constraints of the Aceh government in coping with cases of sexual violence against children. This field research was designed in a qualitative descriptive manner using analytical research methods. There were eight purposively selected informants who were used as a source of data for this research. The techniques to collect data were observation, interviews and documentation studies. The techniques used in processing and analysing the data were data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicated that the efforts made by the Aceh government in overcoming the problem of sexual violence in Aceh, especially against children, are prevention, handling and empowerment efforts through socialization and other efforts that involve various parties. In addition, there is special treatment for the victim and the perpetrator. Furthermore, the results of the study also revealed that there are three main aspects that become obstacles in overcoming cases of sexual violence against children, namely from the community, bureaucracy and Aceh government agencies.

Abstract

Vocabulary plays a crucial role in second language acquisition, and effective vocabulary learning strategies can significantly enhance language proficiency. However, while various strategies have been studied extensively, the influence of gender on vocabulary learning preferences remains insufficiently explored. This study addresses that gap by examining the types of vocabulary learning strategies used by male and female students in the English Language Education Department and analysing how these strategies are implemented in their learning processes. The purpose of this study, which employed a mixed-method approach using quantitative and qualitative techniques, is to identify the dominant strategies used by each gender and determine whether significant differences exist between male and female learners in their approach to vocabulary development. Thirty students (15 males and 15 females) participated by completing a vocabulary learning strategy questionnaire, followed by in-depth interviews with three male and three female students to gain richer insights into their practical strategy use. The results indicate that both male and female students predominantly use metacognitive strategies to build their vocabulary. Female students, however, consistently showed higher engagement across all five categories of strategies: metacognitive, determination, social, memory, and cognitive. Interview responses supported these findings and revealed that both genders commonly utilized strategies such as watching movies, reading, practicing speaking, and group discussions. Interestingly, only male students reported using vocabulary games as a learning tool. This study contributes to the field of second language learning by highlighting gender-based tendencies in strategy use, which can help educators design more inclusive and effective teaching approaches.
