Abstract

Sweet corn has a sturdy and strong stem growth and is very suitable for cultivation in tropical climates. Research on the effect of horse manure compost combined with NPK fertilizer on the growth of sweet corn has been done with the aim of obtaining information: (1) the effect of different doses of horse manure compost on the growth of sweet corn, (2) the effect of different doses of NPK fertilizer on the growth of sweet corn, (3) The interaction effect of horse manure compost and NPK fertilizer on sweet corn vegetative growth. The application of NPK fertilizer was carried out with 4 treatment doses while the application of horse manure compost was carried out with 5 treatment doses. In this study, information was obtained (1) the application of NPK fertilizer increased the growth of sweet corn, (2) the application of horse manure compost increased the growth of sweet corn, (3) There was no increase in growth of sweet corn due to the combination treatment of NPK fertilizer and horse manure compost

Abstract

Ethnobotany is a science that explains the knowledge of traditional communities on the use of plants to support their lives. One of the uses of plants for traditional building materials can be seen in the Uma Lengge building which is a traditional building located in the Wawo District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. This building used to function as a residence for the Mbojo tribe. However, along with the development of the times, the function of the building has been transferred only as a place to store rice. This research aims to analyze the types of constituent plants and explore information about the local wisdom contained in Uma Lengge's architecture. This research type is qualitative using descriptive methods and plant anatomy approaches. Data collection is done using observations, interviews, and documentation. The selection of informants used the snowball sampling method. Based on the results of the study 7 types of plants were used as constituents for the construction of traditional Uma Lengge houses in Maria Village, teak (Tectona grandis Lf.), areca nut (Areca catechu L.), coconut (Cocos nucifera L.), banyan (Ficus benjamina L.), bamboo (Gigantochloa atter Kurz.), hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.), and ndolo (Imperata confera (J.Presl) Ohwi). The local wisdom contained in Uma Lengge architecture is still being applied by the people of Maria Village for generations which include customs, and the preservation of annual traditions or rituals that have good values to be passed down

Abstract

Melon is a short-lived dicot, that growing up on the ground or on bamboo stakes. Vegetative growth and melon production rate are influenced by internal and external factors. Research has been carried out on the analysis of melon growth due to the application of silver black plastic mulch and cow manure compost in 2023. This study aims to analyze the effect of application of silver black plastic mulch on melon growth; application of cow manure compost on melon growth; interaction of application of silver black plastic mulch and cow manure compost on melon growth. The study was designed in two factors, namely the application of silver black plastic mulch as the first factor and the dosage of cow manure compost as the second factor. The results of the study were: there was an increase in plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and width of melon leaves due to application of silver black plastic mulch; there was an increase in plant height, number of leaves, length of melon leaves due to application of cow manure compost, but the application cow manure compost did not increase the length of melon leaves; there was no increase in all growth parameters measured due to the interaction of silver black plastic mulch and cow manure compost application
