Abstract

Sweet corn has a sturdy and strong stem growth and is very suitable for cultivation in tropical climates. Research on the effect of horse manure compost combined with NPK fertilizer on the growth of sweet corn has been done with the aim of obtaining information: (1) the effect of different doses of horse manure compost on the growth of sweet corn, (2) the effect of different doses of NPK fertilizer on the growth of sweet corn, (3) The interaction effect of horse manure compost and NPK fertilizer on sweet corn vegetative growth. The application of NPK fertilizer was carried out with 4 treatment doses while the application of horse manure compost was carried out with 5 treatment doses. In this study, information was obtained (1) the application of NPK fertilizer increased the growth of sweet corn, (2) the application of horse manure compost increased the growth of sweet corn, (3) There was no increase in growth of sweet corn due to the combination treatment of NPK fertilizer and horse manure compost

Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain empirical data regarding the relationship between the mastery of concept, and the stage of students’ moral reasoning. The research method used was correlational research with cluster random sampling technique. The population in this study were all senior high schools in the city of Mataram and the sample consisted of 171 class XII students from three public senior high schools in the city of Mataram. Data collection was carried out using a concept mastery test instrument in the form of multiple choice questions and a moral reasoning stage test using a questionnaire on socio-scientific issues. The results of the research as a whole, it consisted of (1) Test of mastery of the material concept of the reproductive system of students in the less category with a percentage of 45%. (2) The moral reasoning test of students was categorized into the category of beginner reasoning stage with a percentage of 56% (3) The correlation test on concept mastery and moral reasoning stage used Spearman correlation and it showed that there was a significant relationship (r = 0835, = 0.000) with positive direction. This positive and significant relationship can be interpreted that the higher the mastery of the material concepts of the reproductive system of students, the better the stage of students’ moral reasoning.

Abstract

Long beans are short-lived plants that are widely cultivated in Indonesia. To stimulate the growth of long beans, it is necessary to fertilize with the appropriate dose for its growth. Research on the effect of vermicompost and NPK fertilizer has been carried out in Mertak Umbak Village, Central Lombok. The purpose of the research was to determine the effect of the application of vermicompost on the growth of long beans, the effect of the application of NPK fertilizer on the growth of long beans and the interaction effect of the application of vermicompost and NPK fertilizer on the growth of long beans. The research was carried out with a 2-factor design and 4 replications. The research data were analyzed by analysis of variance. In this study, the results showed that the treatment of vermicompost significantly increased the number of leaves and plant height, but could not increase the length and width of the long bean leaves, the application of NPK fertilizer could increase the leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves and stem length of long beans and the interaction of vermicompost and NPK fertilizer treatment did not significantly affect all measured long bean growth parameters

Abstract

Practicum has been widely recognized as an effective approach to enhance science process skills. However, traditional practicums may not be sufficient in improving integrated process skills. To address this issue, the current study aimed to introduce the open inquiry practicum model and investigate its impact on basic and integrated process skills among prospective biology teacher students. The study was conducted during the odd semester of 2022-2023, where selected courses utilized practicums both in and outside of the laboratory to facilitate open inquiry learning. A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design was conducted to assess the effect of open inquiry practicum on students' science process skills. Data was collected from observing the practicum process utilizing the open inquiry learning model, as well as pretest and posttest results of science process skills. Treatment effect was analyzed through Mann-Whitney test with an alpha level of 0.05. The open inquiry practicum model consisted of experimental design preparation, practical field and laboratory work, data collection and analysis, data presentation, and uploading practical activity products in the form of posters and videos to YouTube. The results indicated a significant improvement in students' science process skills through the implementation of the open inquiry practicum.

Abstract

Melon is a short-lived dicot, that growing up on the ground or on bamboo stakes. Vegetative growth and melon production rate are influenced by internal and external factors. Research has been carried out on the analysis of melon growth due to the application of silver black plastic mulch and cow manure compost in 2023. This study aims to analyze the effect of application of silver black plastic mulch on melon growth; application of cow manure compost on melon growth; interaction of application of silver black plastic mulch and cow manure compost on melon growth. The study was designed in two factors, namely the application of silver black plastic mulch as the first factor and the dosage of cow manure compost as the second factor. The results of the study were: there was an increase in plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and width of melon leaves due to application of silver black plastic mulch; there was an increase in plant height, number of leaves, length of melon leaves due to application of cow manure compost, but the application cow manure compost did not increase the length of melon leaves; there was no increase in all growth parameters measured due to the interaction of silver black plastic mulch and cow manure compost application
