Abstract

This study aims to reveal the effectiveness of science teaching based on project-based learning to improve ICT literacy learners in the junior high school with the category of high, medium and low. This research uses descriptive method to describe the students’ equipness of ICT literacy in the science learning based on the project-based learning that is integrated with e-learning. All of the population in this study are junior high school of curriculum pilot project in 2013 in Singkawang. The sampling in this study uses stratified random sampling to determine three of the four schools that represent the school with a category of high, medium and low based on the National Examination score on 2015, namely, SMPN 1 Singkawang, SMPN 3 Singkawang, and SMPN 7 Singkawang and from each school are randomly selected one class. The data collection is done by the observation and questionnaires of the students’ equipness in ICT literacy with effective criteria only if it is in a good or excellent criteria. Based on the analysis, project-based learning science-based learning is effective in equipping ICT literacy learners at junior high school  at the categories of high, medium and low.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop product in the form of a Tumpe Ritual Game for Class VII junior high school students. The research used the research and developement (R & D) method developed by Thiagarajan. The research refers to the 4D model: define, design, develop and disseminate. The result of the study indicates that learning media developed is valid or meet the eligibility criteria. The feasibility category obtained from media experts and also the teacher is highly valid. The implementation of learning media in the classroom can increase students' active participation so that it has an impact on improving critical thinking skill. Gain scores obtained at the pre-test and post-test in the experimental class showed significant differences. The  gain score of experimental class was 0.67 and the control class was 0.54 with the medium category. The effectiveness of learning was done by Manova test with the acquisition of sig values. amounting to 0,000 (<0.05). These condition indicated that the media developed was valid, practical and effective to be used in the process of learning science in class VII SMP.

Abstract

Abstrak ___________________________________________________________________ Seiring perkembangan zaman, kebutuhan dan tuntutan masyarakat akan terus mengalami perubahan. Faktor globalisasi, perkembangan teknologi, pertumbuhan ekonomi, kompetisi internasional, masalah lingkungan dan perubahan politik merupakan beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan pentingnya mengembangkan kemampuan dan pengetahuan untuk sukses di abad ke XXI. Dalam pendidikan, peserta didik perlu dibekali pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperlukan agar dapat berkompetisi dalam menghadapi abad XXI. Peserta didik harus dibekali dengan kompetensi foundational knowledge (to know), humanistic knowledge (to value) dan metaknowledge (to act). Salah satu aspek yang penting dikembangkan yaitu communication and collaboration. Aspek ini merupakan bagian dari kompetensi metaknowledge. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran terkait implementasi pembelajaran IPA melalui penerapan model Susan Loucks-Horsley untuk meningkatkan communication and collaboration peserta didik. Dalam artikel ini akan dikaji beberapa hal diantaranya pembelajaran IPA, Model Susan Loucks-Horsley serta keterampilan abad XXI yaitu communication and collaboration. Setelah memahami uraian mengenai pembelajaran IPA berbasis model Susan Loucks-Horsley diharapkan guru dan calon guru IPA memiliki ide baru dan tambahan wawasan dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran IPA. Factors of globalization, technological development, economic growth, international competition, environmental issues and political changes are some of the factors that led to the importance of developing the skills and knowledge to succeed in the XXI century. In education, students need to be equipped with knowledge and skills necessary to compete in the face of the XXI century. Learners must be equipped with the competence foundational knowledge (to know), humanistic knowledge (to value) and metaknowledge (to act). One important aspect is communication and collaboration developed. This aspect is part of competence metaknowledge. This study aims to provide an overview regarding the implementation of learning science through the application of models Susan Loucks-Horsley to improve communication and collaboration of learners. In this article will be reviewed several things including learning science, Model Susan Loucks-Horsley and XXI century skills ie communication and collaboration. After understanding the description of the model-based science learning Susan Loucks-Horsley expected of teachers and prospective science teachers have new ideas and additional insights in implementing learning science.
