Abstract

One period of Father of the Church was martyrdom which had begun since Apostle’s time up to empire Constantine. During these four centuries, many Christians were suffering and condemned to death. This period was one of the darkness of the history of the Church. The other side, this difficult time had created the theology of martyrdom in the Church, which lasts to present time. This article gives various aspects of martyrdom of the Father of the Church.

Abstract

The development of Christian morality takes a long journey which was started when the Church was born. There were many typical moral cases faced by the Church at each period of time. From one period to another one, moralists came out to solve the cases by giving the right assessment according to the Church’s way of life. A period which was well-known in the journey of Christian morality is the period of the Fathers of the Church. The principle of Christian morality is love which is based on the Gospel and the commandment of Jesus Christ. This was documented in Didache which was used by the Christians at that time. It was the principal moral document of early Christianity. In the development, it was then added by other principals: freedom and justice which were applied in the Christian life. The three principals (love, freedom and justice) formed Christian attitude in respecting other Christians and all people which is applied perfectly by Augustine. The following development of Christian morality was the development of the practice and the profound of what had been laid down before by the Fathers of the Church, with addition of the figure which is excelling in the life as Job, who had been interpreted by Gregory the Great. This writing is ended at this point, because the research is limited from the beginning up to the first development of Christian morality during the period of the Fathers of the Church.

Abstract

Tertulian is the Latin father of the church who eradiated many writings; and “de Anima” is one of his important writing, which treats about soul. In this writing, Tertulian wrote his polemic with Platonism and Stoicism philosophy. Both philosophies have advantage and disadvantage. Tertulian as a philosopher and believer profits these philosophies of advantage and disadvantage in his polemic about soul with the philosophers. At the end of his polemic, he concludes that the both philosophies could be a great help for the teaching of soul, but also be a seed of heresy.

Abstract

This article deals with “Patrology”, the theological science concerned with the writings of the Fathers of the Church. It wishes to draw some introductory elements of what we should know to delve patrology. As it is introduction, the author put forward key elements to the readers, such as knowledge of who the Fathers were, their characters, the meaning of “patrology” and “patristics”, and the importance of studying the writings of the Fathers. In spite of introduction this articles is theologically tracing some interesting things for every one who wants to know patrology.

Abstract

To be a priest, a candidate should study philosophy and theology for more or less seven years of duration which is called Initial Formation, which emphasize four dimensions, which are human being, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral. These dimensions are built up at formation house and college. If Initial Formation is passed through, the candidate is anointed to be a priest and he is ready as in persona Christi for pastoral service who has responsibility and duty in the church and the world. For this service, the priest needs a formation for long his priesthood which is called Ongoing Formation. The dimension which is emphasized at Initial Formation is also given in his priesthood with contents combined by pastoral service and stages of priest, which are junior, middle ages, advanced years and retired or sick. The intention of Ongoing Formation is to support the priesthood for the long life of a priest in order to always embody him with the Great Pastor in life and pastoral service.

Abstract

One of the central themes discussed both internationally and nationally is about humanity which is identified with human rights. Religiosity is no less talked about it, including the Church of Asia through the Asian Bishops' Conference which in 2020 celebrated its presence for fifty years. Two declarations from the United Nations and the ASEAN declaration provide directions for upholding humanity and the Asian Bishops Conference document provides the basis for humanity to be more honored and respected. To arrive at the aim of discussing the contribution of the Asian Bishops' Conference to respect and honor humanity, the discussion will begin with an overview of humanity from religious and philosophical dimensions. The two United Nations declarations and the ASEAN declaration provide directions for humanity that serve as guidelines for respecting it. The document of the Asian Bishops' Conference, while respecting the declarations issued by various agencies, illuminates the implications for respecting and respecting humanity. This study uses many sources of documents and humanitarian movements in Asia and Indonesia as well and this paper concludes with a conclusion that gives the reason for Asia being the highest violator of humanity in the world.

Abstract

Ongoing formation is a subject which is very actual at this present time in relation with priesthood which has been pointed out by the Second Vatican Council. The church has promulgated various documents to this urgent need. One aspect of the ongoing formation is priesthood collegiality to Jesus Christ as high priest, to church where is incardinated, to hierarchy as his institution, to the other priests as his colleagues and to lay people who is also his peer of pastoral service. The intention this writing is to revive priest that the effectiveness and efficacy of pastoral service is collegiality.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bukan membahas alasan kronologis keberadaan periode Revolusi Industri 4.0 yang saat ini banyak dibicarakan dan berpengaruh di dalam masyarakat, melainkan suatu refleksi yang didasarkan pada dokumen- dokumen gerejani mengenai imam - imamat mulai dari Konsili Vatikan II sampai dengan saat ini. Sadar atau tidak, imbas Revolusi Industri 4.0 banyak memengarui pemikiran, pola hidup, kerja dan sikap masyarakat, yang berdampak pada kondisi sosial budaya dan ekonomi. Dengan sendirinya juga berdampak pada imam - imamat saat ini.

Abstract

Salah satu istilah yang sering digunakan di dalam Gereja adalah “katekese” dan turunan dari kata tersebut adalah katekis dan katekismus yang digunakan sesuai dengan konteksnya. Praktik katekese sebenarnya telah terjadi sejak kelahiran Gereja dan terus dilaksanakan dan dikembangkan sampai dengan saat ini. Katekese telah memiliki perkembangan dalam isi, metode dan bentuk. Tulisan ini hendak menelusuri awal kehadiran katekese di dalam Gereja yang memberikan suatu penelitian yang tidak gampang, karena berkaitan dengan berbagai aspek sehubungan perkembangan kristianitas. Walaupun demikian, penelitian ini akan berusaha memberikan panorama kelahiran katekese tersebut di dalam Gereja dan sekaligus memberikan perkembangannya. Penelitian akan mereferensikan tulisan- tulisan Bapa Gereja.

Abstract

Tulisan ini akan membahas perlakuan para Kaisar dari kekaisaran romawi terhadap Kristiani, mulai sejak kematian Yesus Kristus sampai dengan kaisar Konstantinus yang mengeluarkan Edit Milan pada tahun Periode yang berdurasi kurang lebih tiga abad ini adalah kegelapan yang paling kelam di dalam Gereja, karena nama Kristiani sebagai taruhan melalui tuduhan sebagai proselit,1 penista dan konsekuensinya adalah pemburuan untuk dianiaya dengan cara dipenjarakan, dibunuh, melawan binatang buas, dibakar, dan dipancung.
