Abstract

One of the obstacles to the development of agribusiness is related to supply chain management. The availability of supply is the most important factor in influencing supply chain performance. Without a stable and routine supply, supply chain performance will be disrupted. Karanganyar Regency is one of the production centers of horticultural commodities, particularly garlic. This study aimed to analyze the efficiency of each garlic supply chain actor in Karanganyar Regency. The research was conducted from March to April 2019. The efficiency of each supply chain actor in this study was measured using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. Performance measurement was done through the DEA approach and the performance attributes were input and output variables. The respondents observed were 50 farmers and 13 supply chain actors working in institutions. The samples of farmers were taken using purposive sampling technique, while the samples of supply chain actors were obtained using snowball sampling. The results have shown that the most efficient supply chain actors were retailers with an efficiency value of 1 (100%), while inefficient supply chain actors were farmers with an average efficiency value of 0.709. From a total of 50 Decision Making Unit (DMU) of total farmers, 13 DMU (26%) were efficient, while 37 DMU (74%) were inefficient and further need improvements, like using certified seeds and suitable fertilizer recommendations, as well as reducing external labor during the process of maintenance, harvesting and post-harvest. Farmers are expected to have the desire to learn from referral farmers.

Abstract

Basreng crackers are fried meatball crackers produced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Sumber Rejeki and are named Kripik Basreng. Basreng is a cracker made from tapioca flour, noodles, and eggs. The problem faced by Sumber Rejeki SME’s that if the SME produces in a large capacity, the kneading process takes a long time and the ingredients used are not mixed evenly. This activity aims to introduce dough machines in SME Sumber Rejeki. The method is participatory by involving SME Sumber Rejeki, starting from the need identification stage, design, and machine introduction. As a result of these activities, the community service team succeeded in realizing a dough kneading machine under the needs and desires of SME Sumber Rejeki. This machine can increase time efficiency by about 80-90% and reduction of labor operating costs by IDR 2,000/prescription processing. The process of making dough is only one-sixth time per recipe compared to without using a machine. This process has an impact on the workforce being able to do other jobs so that they are more productive. This condition affects increasing the production capacity of basreng up to 400% per day and improving the dough quality. The side effect is good business management to production basreng more efficient than previous and fulfilled the demand quickly.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of Shaqiri SME workers by introducing appropriate technology, such as cassava chopper machines. The community service activities were carried out with a participatory approach, involving collaboration between the community service team from academia and SMEs as partners. The service team also conducted monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of service activities. The community service team conducted an evaluation using a pre-post intervention approach with evaluation instruments that included sheets and questionnaires, structured interviews, photos, and video documentation. The data was analyzed descriptively and comparatively, focusing on quantitative and qualitative changes. The results showed that the introduction of a cassava chopper machine provided benefits to Shaqiri SMEs in the production process. The cassava chopping process, which previously took a long time, became faster, the thickness of the slices became consistent, and it was less tiring for workers.
