Abstract

Activity of DPP-SPP 2022 community service was conducted with workshop method. Purpose of activity is to improve quality of Malang cullinary, especially chicken egg, to get more nutrious and healthy one using natural dyes such as green tea andsappan wood. The steps to make the decorative bacem egg included the boiling of eggs, decorative peeling of eggs, boiling of mixture (dyes, the decorative eggs, and spices), immersion, and peeling of the decorative bacem eggs. The workshop was performed with getting arround method and online counselling through youtube. Number of participants is 19 people. In the method, the participants take the book module and product examples. They filled evaluation form after tasting some products. In online workshop, counseling of the decorative bacem egg cooking was presented by the students. In other side, informations about nutritions, antioxidant substances, and health research about tea and sappan wood were given by the lecturers. Based on the evaluation, the most participants gave score of good for method, more decilious taste and interesting appearance for the decorative bacem eggs using sappan wood than tea, and planning of the technology application was mostly for bussiness.

Abstract

Structural properties, including pore structure, functional group of carbon surface, and crystal structure of carbon built by zinc borosilicate (ZBS) and ZnCl2 (Z) have been investigated in this work. Physically, ZBS and ZnCl2 may act as template of carbon, whereas the Zn(II) cation act as chemical activator of carbonization. All precursors of ZBS (silicagel, boric acid, and ZnCl2) may act as catalysts of caramelization. The caramelization was conducted hydrothermally at 85oC and thermally 130oC. The carbonization was conducted at 450oC. The resulted carbons were washed by using HF 48% solution, 1M HCl solution, and aquadest respectively. The solid products were characterized by using nitrogen gas adsorption, infrared spectrophotometry, X-ray diffraction, and Transmition Electron Microscopy. Result of research showed that ZBS built larger mesopore volume, larger pore domination of pore size, more hydrophobic carbon, and more amorf than ZnCl2.

Abstract

Aluminium(III)-tartrate (Al-T) complex is a compound that commonly used as mordent in textile dyeing. This complex is soluble in hot water; thus, information on the isolation of crystallised Al-T is limited. Isolation of crystallised Al-T is needed to gain a high purity complex for further application in the textile industry. This study aims to synthesize and isolate crystalline complex of Al-T. Hydrothermal method was used to obtain the targeted complex. Effects of tartrate precursor and Al(III):tartrate mol ratio in the synthesis of Al-T complex were also investigated. The synthesis was done at 150 °C for 24 hours in several Al(III):tartrate mol ratios (1:2, 2:1, and 2:3) using two different tartrate precursors, namely L-tartaric acid and KNa-tartrate. The synthesized complexes were identified by infrared spectroscopy and powder-XRD analyses, and then further characterised by UV Vis - DRS, DTA-TGA, and SEM. Experimental data shows that the mol ratio affects the precipitation of the Al-T complex, in which a white crystalline solid was only precipitated out from the 2:1 reaction by both tartrate precursors. Different tartrate precursors used in the synthesis may alter the crystallization and result in an Al-T complex with slightly different thermal decomposition profile, UV-Vis DRS spectra profile, and different yield due to the different nature of the tartrate precursor. This finding is expected to support the possibility of Al-T mass production as mordent in textile dyeing

Abstract

Di Departemen Kimia Universitas Brawijaya, Kimia Unsur merupakan mata kuliah wajib di semester 3 untuk program S1. Kuliah tamu dibutuhkan untuk tujuan meningkatkan kualitas belajar Kimia Unsur dan publikasi dosen  pengampunya terkait materi kuliah tersebut. Dua metode diterapkan untuk mencapai tujuan, meliputi kuliah daring 100 menit dan publikasi kolaboratif dosen UB dan dosen tamu dengan pilihan  skema B,  batch 5, kelas C, topik asam-basa Lewis, dan dievaluasi melalui pengisian quisioner. Publikasi tambahan meliputi presentasi di seminar internasional BASIC 2025 dan publikasi di jurnal EDUKATIF ini. Hasil evaluasi terhadap materi kuliah (konsep dan aplikasi) memberikan hasil 50% baik, 43.5% sangat baik, dan 6,5% cukup. Untuk penyampaian materi dicapai 56.5% baik, 34,8% sangat baik, dan 8,7% cukup. Kualitas review artikel oleh dosen tamu mendapat nilai 54,3% baik, 42,9% sangat baik, dan 2,8% cukup. Proses publikasi kolaboratif  meningkatkan kecepatan proses publikasi 63, 4% hari sejak penyerahan (submit)  hingga diterima (accepted). Kesimpulan yang diperoleh adalah bahwa program kuliah tamu dapat meningkatkan kualitas belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Kimia Unsur, serta kualitas dan kecepatan proses publikasi dosen pengampunya
