Abstract

Research about making of microcrystalline cellulose from stick bulrush ( Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) have done. From 300 g dry stick bulrush got 50,772 g microcrystalline cellulose. The loss on drying was about 5,57%. Characters a white, granular powder, odorless and tasteless. Identification with iodinated zinc chloride solution the substance becomes violet-blue. Solubility in the ammoniacal copper tetrammine solution it dissolves completely. Water-soluble substances the residue weighs is 0,085%. Starch with add iodine 0,05 M is negative (blue colour isn’t produced). The pH of the supernatan liquid is 5,46 and Hydration capacity is 3,504. Bulk and tapping densities is 0,251 and 0,374. Carr’s index and Hausner index  is 32,68 and 1,49. The inspection loss on drying, Characters organoleptic, Identification, Solubility in the ammoniacal copper tetrammine solution and Starch of result microcrystalline cellulose same with comparator (Vivacel pH 102) and fulfill conditions of British Parmacopoeia 2002.

Abstract

A study on the preparation of sodium carboxymethil cellulose (Na-CMC) from celulose powder that was isolated from the stems elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) has been performed. Cellulose was purified using 17.5% of sodium hydroxide solution, then bleach, dried and crushed to obtain alpha cellulose. Alfa cellulose was eterified with sodium chloroacetat resulting sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, furthermore characterized: organoleptic, losses on drying, chemical identification, pH test and test with fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The results showed that of 300 g stems elephant grass yield alpha cellulose as much as 92,.54 g and 25 g of alpha cellulose produced  Na-CMC as 16.92 g. Based on the characterization made Na-CMC and Na-CMC Merck®  meet Indonesian Pharmacopoeia 3th edition requirement.

Abstract

A study about production and characterization of dried guava leaf extract with the addition of lactose as drying agents has been performed. Dried extract characterization result are: powder, brown color, characteristic odor and taste like plant and somewhat bitter taste. Dry extract was made by adding lactose in ratio of extracts:lactose 2:1; 1:1, and 2 : 3 and the best extract was in ratio 2:1. Levels of water-solube compound the extract 2:1 was 83.90% ± 1.49%, levels of ethanol. Soluble compounds 13.01% ± 0.11%, total flavonoid content of 1.17% ± 0.01%,  loss on drying 1.52% ± 0.07%, apparent specific gravity 0.60 g/mL and specific gravity of incompressible 0.78 g/mL, total ash content of 1.174% ± 0.006% and acid insoluble ash content of 0.946% ± 0.036%.

Abstract

A Research has been done about preparing calcium carbonat from limestone of Bukit Tui Kota Padang Panjang. The sample as much as 20 g was dissolved in HCl 6 M, the resulting filtrate  reacted with NH4OH 6 M to the pH of 8 and reacted with (NH4)2CO3 6 M until no more precipitate was  was formed. The precipitate was separated and dried in oven for 4 hours at 105º C. Ten g of the dried precipitate was determined complexometrically using EDTA as complexson and murexide as indicator. It was found that the limestone at Bukit Tui Kota Padang Panjang contained 67.2 % w/w calcium carbonate in comparison to reference compound 103.99 % w/w.

Abstract

The quantitation of same metal such as cadmium, zink and lead from same sweetened condensed milk packed in the cans samples wich are collected in Pasar Raya Padang has been done. Metal measurament done by Atomic Aborbtion Spectroscopy (AAS). The result showed it’s zink quantity from sample A, B, C dan D are 24.3948 mg/Kg; 23.7886mg/Kg; 19.3428 mg/Kg; 19.3928 mg/Kg respectily, it’s cadmium were not identified, It’s lead quantity are 0.1434 mg/Kg; 0 mg/Kg; 0 mg/Kg; 0.1436 mg/Kg. It showed that sample A, and D have not complied the milk qualification of BPOM. RI. No. 03725/B/SK/VII/89 in metal compound.
