Abstract

This research elucidates the drama Under the Power (锦衣之下Jǐnyī zhīxià) (2019), which narrates the journey of the main character Lu Yi (陆译) as an Embroidered-Uniform Guard (锦衣卫Jǐnyīwèi) of the Ming Dynasty (明朝Míng cháo) officiated with eradicating crime in the empire court. In every behavior, Lu Yi always shows his stand that adheres to the Confucian values, namely the Five Cardinal Virtues (五常Wǔ cháng) and the Eight Virtues (八德Bā dé). This research fathoms how far Confucius moral values are reflected in Lu Yi himself. Using the descriptive method and qualitative approach, the writer conducts a literature review on Confucius values and relates them to Lu Yi's character. From the research conducted, it is known that Lu Yi's character is indeed a notice enforcer who upholds the values of Confucius in himself, especially the value of defending truth and justice (义Yì). Abstract

Raise the Red Lantern is one of Zhang Yimou's films adapted from Su Tong's Raise the Red Lantern novel. This novel and film tells the story of polygamy in Chinese society in the 1920s. Tells the story of the competition of 4 wives in fighting over the love and power of a wealthy master. The shift from the novel Raise the Red Lantern to the film Raise the Red Lantern causes the deletion, addition, and various changes in the intrinsic elements of the novel. These aspects are analyzed from data in the form of novels and films using the ecranisation approach. The goal is to find out the differences, similarities, and changes that occur as a result of the process of transferring vehicles from these two different material objects. The results of the analysis of the ecranisation of the novel Raise the Red Lantern into the film Raise the Red Lantern show that there are additions and deletions of events, alterations and deletions of settings, as well as replacement and removal of characters in the novel. However, the process of transferring vehicle does not change the outline of the story.Keywords - novel, film, raise the Red Lantern, ecranisation.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 yang menyebabkan transformasi pembelajaran luring menjadi daring menuntut pendidik untuk melakukan inovasi dalam pembelajaran. Berbagai aplikasi dan media online menjadi semakin populer untuk dijadikan media pembelajaran, diantaranya adalah Youtube dan Edpuzzle yang dapat dijadikan platform penunjang pembelajaran dengan media video yang interaktif, efektif dan menyenangkan bagi siswa. Kegiatan abdimas ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan penggunaan Youtube dan Edpuzzle agar dapat menjadi referensi media pembelajaran di kelas daring. Peserta kegiatan adalah guru-guru SMA/Sederajat Wilayah Sudin I dan II Jakarta Pusat dan guru-guru MGMP Bahasa Mandarin di Jabodetabek. Pelaksanaan abdimas ini menggunakan metode ceramah untuk penyampaian materi dan praktik langsung perancangan video pembelajaran dengan Edpuzzle. Abstract

The transition of learning from offline to online during the Covid-19 pandemic initially presented many challenges. The limited ability of lecturers to master educational technology and the lack of experience in teaching online make lecturers tend to apply more virtual face-to-face methods as an alternative to learning in the classroom. However, implementing the virtual face-to-face method raises new problems, including students' declining psychological condition, health, and learning motivation. It becomes an in-depth evaluation for lecturers to design online learning that is more varied, interactive, and effective. Blended learning in this research is a blending of four online learning media: 1) virtual face-to-face with Zoom, 2) learning with Youtube videos, 3) learning with Edpuzzle, and 4) independent learning with assignments in LMS. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of blended learning and student satisfaction by combining four media in the online classroom. This research is  an action research consisting of 3 cycles and carried out for two semesters for students of the Chinese Language and Culture Study Program, University of Al Azhar Indonesia, Class of 2019 and 2020. The results of this study include student responses about the learning media they like the most and most effective, the strengths and weaknesses of each media, and the level of effectiveness and student learning satisfaction with implementing blended learning.

Abstract

Learning writing skills in Mandarin is often something that is feared and less desirable because of the level of difficulty, because it requires a learning method that can overcome the obstacles faced by learners in this proficiency. This research seeks to provide an alternative method of learning to write by optimizing students' reading abilities. By using a qualitative approach, the author tries to optimize the reading of Chinese texts in learning activities to improve students' writing skills. From the results of this study, it is known that by providing more reading input, students also have more knowledge regarding the topic of writing and its development, better vocabulary mastery and understanding of good writing methods/methods so that it has a positive impact on the development and improvement of writing skills of students in MandarinKeywords – Mandarin, Writing Skills, Reading Abilities, Optimizing.

Abstract

The Tang Dynasty is one of the most famous dynasties in China. In addition to the discovery of many discoveries, this dynasty also has many interesting stories. One of them is the story of Empress Wu Zetian (武则天Wǔzétiān). who is the only female emperor in China. The story of Empress Wu Zetian, the female emperor, has attracted a lot of interest from the public and even novelists. This study reviews the impact of Empress Wu Zetian's leadership on traditional Chinese society in the novel The True Story of China's Cleopatra. The author uses a qualitative descriptive approach, a research approach by examining qualitative sources to examine the impact of Empress Wu Zetian's leadership on traditional Chinese society in the novel The True Story of China's Cleopatra. From the research that has been done, it is known that during her reign, Empress Wu Zetian has made many positive impacts on current traditional Chinese society. Abstract

HSK (Chinese Profession Test) is a standardized international Mandarin test. It was first introduced in 1991 and underwent a change in the exam system in 2009 to become the New HSK. Along with the development of teaching Mandarin in Indonesia, the need for the New HSK exam is increasing. The Chinese language and Chinese culture study program UAI (China Study Program), stipulates the use of the New HSK level 4 certificate as a diploma companion certificate as well as a graduation requirement for Chinese Study Program students. However, in practice, there are still students who are constrained in taking this exam. This study aims to see the extent to which Chinese Study Program students' acceptance of the New HSK exam and its effect on their Mandarin teaching. By using qualitative methods, data collection was carried out through a questionnaire distributed to 68 Chinese study program students. From the results of data processing, it is known that the acceptance and understanding of Chinese Study Program students towards the New HSK exam is quite good. The level of student participation in this exam is also quite high. The thing that becomes an obstacle for students is the lack of preparation to take the exam so that most of them decide to postpone the exam even before the thesis exam is held. For this reason, a better HSK preparation class is needed and increases the synergy between classroom learning and the New HSK.Keywords – Acceptance, New HSK, China Study Program.

Abstract

Mandarin is one of an international language that is increasingly widely used but has a high level of difficulty to learn. The existing Chinese teaching methods need to be added new methods to make it more interesting, one of them is by using the Latin numeral method which is widely used in social media. This experimental research was conducted by taking respondents with the same sex and age, to prove the relationship between the independent variable (Mandarin learning process) and the dependent variable (Latin numeral method). The similarity of sounds in Latin numbers and pronunciation of Chinese Han characters (Chinese Homonym) is proven to help respondents understand the meaning of Chinese sentences more than 80%, even 4 of the 9 questions presented showed a difference in the correct answers before and after the test by more than 29%. Similar sound similarities (homonyms) between the pronunciation of Chinese Han characters and the pronunciation of numbers in Mandarin have a very important role in achieving the level of understanding of the respondents. These results indicate that Latin numerals can be used as a new way to learn Mandarin.Keywords – Chinese Teaching Methods, Latin Numeral, Homonym.
