Abstract

Male betta fish are more popular and expensive than female betta fish because they have a more beautiful body shape and color. One effort to increase the male fish population is the masculinization method to reverse the sex of the fish to become male, so that the profit value is higher (Siregar, 2018). Generally, sex reversal uses a steroid hormone: 17?-methyltestosterone (MT) by the method: immersion, injection or oral through feed. However, this MT hormone has side effects that can cause pollution, liver damage in test animals and can cause death (Djihad, 2015 in Nazar, 2017). This study was conducted to determine the survival of the larvae and the increase in the percentage of male betta fish by soaking different types of honey. The method used in this study was a laboratory experiment using 3 treatments, namely A (forest honey), B (cattle honey), C (propolis) and 3 replications. Betta fish larvae as test animals were 7 days old, with honey soaked for 10 hours at a concentration of 5ml/L, then reared for 60 days. The results showed that the survival rate of betta fish larvae after honey soaking treatment (10 hours) averaged 100% and the percentage of betta fish survival during maintenance (60 days) ranged from 23-28% where the highest survival was in forest honey ( 28%). Furthermore, the average sex percentage of male sex larvae in the treatment of forest honey immersion (97%), propolis honey (90%), livestock honey (63%) and control (29%). Thus it can be concluded that forest honey is the right type of honey that plays an important role in the masculinization process of betta fish larvae.

Abstract

Komo tuna (pelagic) has a vertical and horizontal distribution area with groups that are caught using fishing rods. The study aims to describe the DPI using FADs, analyze the size distribution of fish caught in FADs. The study was conducted in September-October 2024 in the waters of Werain Village, KKT. Data were collected through DPI surveys, position mapping, FAD placement and FAD observations by catching, the catch was measured TL, analyzed descriptively displayed in the form of tables and images, making maps using ArcGIS and Struges for the size of the catch. The results of the study found seven DPIs and two locations that often catch and FADs were placed in the area. Cork FADs with a height of 1.40 cm and a diameter of 44 cm, attractors using 9 coconut leaves for one FAD, 70 kg attractor weights and 150 kg FAD weights made of cement concrete, 14 mill PE FAD ropes with a length of 200 m. The catch results of FADs in the first survey were 17 individuals, the second 21 individuals and the third survey 21 individuals with a length size of 29.7-37 cm TL. The presence presentation showed that the size of 32-34 cm dominated, namely 54.688%, already mature gonads.

Abstract

Increasing fishery production can be done by fish farming activities, one of which is in floating net cages. One of the types of fish that is cultivated is Kuwe fish because it has a relatively fast growth due to the consumption of a lot of food. Provision of feed that is not in accordance with the number of fish kept causes the growth rate of fish to be slow, as a result the resulting production is not as expected. Satisfaction is one strategy to overcome the problem by giving minimal feed but not hampering fish growth. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of fasting on the efficiency of feed utilization and protein retention of kuwe fish (Caranx ignobilis) in floating net cages. The method used in this study is an experimental method using a completely randomized design consisting of treatment 1 day fasting 1 day eating, treatment 1 day fasting 2 days eating, treatment 1 day fasting 3 days eating and every day eating. The results showed that absolute length growth, absolute weight of fish, and efficiency of feed utilization in fasted fish had no significant effect (P > 0.05). While the average percentage of protein retention value in the treatment of fish was fasted for 1 day followed by feeding 2 days in a row (0.0041%), fish were fasted for 1 day followed by feeding 1 day in a row (0.0040%) and fish were fasted for 1 day followed by feeding 3 consecutive days (0.0034%). ABSTRAK Peningkatan produksi perikanan dapat dilakukan dengan kegiatan budidaya ikan, salah satunya pada Keramba Jaring Apung.Salah satu jenis ikan yang dibudidayakan adalah ikan kuwe karena memiliki pertumbuhan yang relatif cepat karena konsumsi makanan yang banyak. Penyediaan pakan yang tidak sesuai dengan jumlah ikan yang dipelihara menyebabkan laju pertumbuhan ikan menjadi lambat, akibatnya produksi yang dihasilkan tidak sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Pemuasaan merupakan salah satu strategi untuk mengatasi masalah dengan cara pemberian pakan seminimal mungkin akan tetapi pertumbuhan ikan tidak terhambat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh pemuasaan terhadap efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan dan retensi protein ikan kuwe (Caranx ignobilis) di Keramba Jaring Apung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari perlakuan 1 hari puasa 1 hari makan, perlakuan 1 hari puasa 2 hari makan, perlakuan 1 hari puasa 3 hari makan dan setiap hari makan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan panjang mutlak, berat mutlak ikan, dan efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan pada ikan yang dipuasakan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P > 0.05). Sedangkan rerata persentase nilai retensi protein pada perlakuan ikan dipuasakan 1 hari diikuti pemberian pakan 2 hari berturut-turut (0.0041%), ikan dipuasakan 1 hari diikuti pemberian pakan 1 hari berturut-turut (0.0040%) dan ikan dipuasakan 1 hari diikuti pemberian pakan 3 hari berturut-turut (0.0034%).
