Abstract

Skipjack tuna (katsuwonus pelamis) is a fishery resource that has economic value which is in great demand and is utilized with various fishing tools and methods. This research aims to describe the skipjack tuna fishing unit using trolling rods, and analyze the distribution of length and weight of skipjack tuna in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands. The research was carried out from February to April 2024 in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands. Data collected through observation and interviews as well as practice of the fishing process, catches were measured by total length and the relationship between length and weight, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively, using the Sturges formula and length and weight. The results of the research show that the type of equipment and fishing method operated in the form of multiple hand line, and skipjack tuna caught in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands are in the size of 29.5-75 cm TL where the percentage of presence shows that the size of 49-52 cm dominates, namely 35. 62% with negative allometric skipjack tuna growth patterns.

Abstract

Komo tuna (pelagic) has a vertical and horizontal distribution area with groups that are caught using fishing rods. The study aims to describe the DPI using FADs, analyze the size distribution of fish caught in FADs. The study was conducted in September-October 2024 in the waters of Werain Village, KKT. Data were collected through DPI surveys, position mapping, FAD placement and FAD observations by catching, the catch was measured TL, analyzed descriptively displayed in the form of tables and images, making maps using ArcGIS and Struges for the size of the catch. The results of the study found seven DPIs and two locations that often catch and FADs were placed in the area. Cork FADs with a height of 1.40 cm and a diameter of 44 cm, attractors using 9 coconut leaves for one FAD, 70 kg attractor weights and 150 kg FAD weights made of cement concrete, 14 mill PE FAD ropes with a length of 200 m. The catch results of FADs in the first survey were 17 individuals, the second 21 individuals and the third survey 21 individuals with a length size of 29.7-37 cm TL. The presence presentation showed that the size of 32-34 cm dominated, namely 54.688%, already mature gonads.

Abstract

Yellowfin tuna is an important economic commodity that is widely exploited with various fishing tools and methods and catches of various sizes. This study aims to describe yellowfin tuna fishing units and analyze the size distribution and productivity of yellowfin tuna resources based on seasons in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands. This research was carried out in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands from August 2021-March 2022. Data were collected through interviews, observations and measurements of the length and weight of the catch and analyzed descriptively and CPUE analysis. The results showed that catching yellowfin tuna in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands was classified as a small-scale fishery, using hand fishing gear with boat sizes under 10 GT. Yellowfin tuna caught in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands throughout the year are dominated by small size fish that are still classified as juveniles. The presence of large-sized tuna was more in the first transitional season with an attendance percentage of 21.98%. The abundance of yellowfin tuna resources in the waters of the Tanimbar Islands fluctuated according to the seasons, and the highest abundance was found in the transitional season one. ABSTRAK Ikan tuna madidihang merupakan komoditas ekonomis penting yang banyak dieksploitasi dengan berbagai alat dan metode penangkapan serta hasil tangkapan yang beragam ukurannya. Penelitian ini betujuan untuk mendeskripsi unit penangkapan tuna madidihang dan menganalisis distribusi ukuran serta produktivitas sumberdaya ikan tuna madidihang berdasarkan musim di perairan Kepulauan Tanimbar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di perairan Kepulauan Tanimbar sejak Agustus 2021-Maret 2022. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi dan pengukuran panjang dan berat hasil tangkapan, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif serta analisis CPUE. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penangkapan ikan tuna madidihang di perairan Kepulauan Tanimbar tergolong perikanan skala kecil, menggunakan alat tangkap pancing tangan dengan ukuran kapal di bawah 10 GT. Ikan tuna madidihang yang tertangkap di perairan Kepulauan Tanimbar sepanjang tahun didominasi ikan ukuran kecil yang masih tergolong juvenile. Kehadiran ikan tuna ukuran besar lebih banyak pada musim peralihan satu dengan persentasi kehadiran sebesar 21,98%. Abstract

Provinsi Maluku memiliki potensi besar dalam sektor perikanan, khususnya ikan pelagis kecil, yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konstruksi alat tangkap mini purse seine serta pola sebaran hasil tangkapan ikan julung-julung (Hemiramphus sp) di Perairan Teluk Waru, Kabupaten Seram Bagian Timur. Metode yang digunakan adalah experimental fishing selama Juli–Desember 2023, dengan pengumpulan data primer melalui observasi langsung dan wawancara, serta data sekunder dari instansi terkait. Posisi penangkapan dicatat menggunakan GPS dan dipetakan dengan perangkat lunak ArcGIS, sedangkan data hasil tangkapan dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan diuji menggunakan t-test untuk melihat perbedaan hasil tangkapan berdasarkan lokasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mini purse seine yang digunakan memiliki panjang jaring 250 meter dan tinggi 24 meter, dengan bahan utama polyamide dan ukuran mata jaring bervariasi antara 1–2 inci. Sistem pelampung dan pemberat dirancang untuk membentuk kantong penjebak ikan secara efisien. Unit operasi terdiri dari kapal utama sepanjang 13,5 meter dan perahu kecil sebagai alat bantu pengamatan gerombolan ikan. Konfigurasi ini terbukti efektif dalam mengoptimalkan penangkapan ikan pelagis kecil. Konstruksi alat tangkap mini purse seine di Teluk Waru sesuai dengan standar teknis perikanan skala kecil yang efisien, efektif, dan berkelanjutan. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi dasar pengembangan teknologi tangkap yang ramah lingkungan dan meningkatkan pemanfaatan sumber daya perikanan secara optimal di wilayah pesisir Maluku.
