Abstract

The increasing public awareness of the dangers posed by the use of synthetic dyes led people to use natural dyes as a solution that are more environmentally friendly. The use of natural dyes in batik is also practiced in Betawi Batik, specifically KBB Setu Babakan in Jagakarsa and Batik Seraci in Bekasi. However, the complicated process, long processing time, and resulting colors that tend to be pale, uneven, and inconsistent pose as a threat to this technique’s sustainability. Based on that premise, research on the development of the potential of natural coloring techniques for batik has become a significant thing. This study aims to record and identify the types of dyes and natural coloring technique in the Betawi Batik’s workshops, in order to examine its strengths, weaknesses, and threats. Thus, a strategy for developing natural dyes can be formulated to support the creation of creative industry products that are more environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan kebutuhan tata rias, muncul profesi penata rias profesional (profesional make-up artist). Dalam pekerjaan ini, penata rias dituntut untuk dapat menangani klien dengan beragam karakter wajah dan tujuan. Beauty case digunakan untuk menempatkan peralatan ini sekaligus mempermudah mobilitas. Penelitian ini terfokus pada kajian mengenai struktur dan material untuk memahami kelebihan dan kelemahan desain yang ada, serta kebutuhan penata rias untuk memahami fitur-fitur yang perlu untuk dikembangkan. Obyek studi adalah kecenderungan desain beauty case di kalangan penata rias profesional di Jakarta, khususnya dari segi struktur dan material, kebutuhan penata rias profesional mengenai beauty case, serta kelebihan dan kekurangan desain yang ada. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Dari hasil penelitian terhadap sample, ditemukan bahwa beauty case yang ada cenderung memiliki konsep bersekat untuk memudahkan organisasi peralatan dan bahan makeup dengan sistem engsel geser-naik. Namun, beauty case tersebut belum dapat memenuhi seluruh kebutuhan dalam menata rias. Responden menyatakan bahwa mereka menginginkan beauty case yang aman bagi kosmetik yang rentan (mudah tumpah atau patah), memiliki wadah dengan ukuran yang berbeda, banyak sekat, memiliki lampu yang tidak sulit dioperasikan dan penyimpanannya, serta ukurannya dapat disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan.Kata Kunci: Struktur, Material, Kebutuhan, beauty case, penata rias AbstractProfessional make up artist is a new profession which is born due to the high demands in cosmetology. Makeup artists are required to handle clients with different face types and goals. To support their work, beauty cases are used to put their equipments and mateials, and at the same time facilitaties mobility. This research focuses on the study of structures and materials of beauty case to understand the advantages and disadvantages of existing designs, as well as understanding features that need to be developed in order to facilitate user’s needs. The subject of the study is the tendency of beauty case design among profesional makeup artists in Jakarta, especially in terms of structure and materials, user’s needs in their line of work, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of existing beauty case designs, using qualitative and quantitative method. It was found that beauty cases tend to have a sealed concept to facilitate the organization of equipment and makeup materials with a sliding-up hinge system. However, the beauty case is still not able to meet all user’s needs. Respondents stated that they wanted beauty cases that are safe for fragile cosmetics, to avoid them being spilled or broken, have different sized containers, lots of bulkheads, have lights that are not hard to operate and stored, and customizable size that can be adjusted to their needs.Keywords: Structure, Material, Needs, beauty case, makeup artist

Abstract

RingkasanSeiring dengan meningkatnya popularitas batik, berbagai daerah berusaha mengembangkan batik dengan mengangkat tradisi dan ciri khas daerah setempat. Salah satunya adalah Jakarta, dengan mengusung Batik Betawi. Sebagai bagian dari khasanah kriya Indonesia, kain batik tidak hanya merupakan selembar sandang. Ragam hias batik merupakan ungkapan rupa yang dapat memberikan gambaran dan refleksi atas kebudayaan pembuatnya, dalam hal ini masyarakat Betawi. Penelitian ini menitikberatkan pada ekspresi seni yang terdapat pada Batik Betawi, berupa pengembangan gagasan/ide/inspirasi ke dalam stilasi ragam hias. Hal ini dilakukan dengan dengan menelaah unsur visual seperti karakter garis dan bidang, komposisi bentuk dan warna, gaya penggambaran, serta detail ragam hias. Obyek penelitian ini adalah motif batik yang tersebar di wilayah kebudayaan Betawi, dengan mengambil studi kasus motif Ondel-Ondel di Jakarta dan Bekasi. Penelitian dilakukan di sentra-sentra industri batik di Jakarta, antara lain KBB Setu Babakan dan Batik Seraci Bekasi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan estetika yang dilaksanakan dengan metode kualitatif dan pengolahan data dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif. Dengan adanya penelitian ini, dapat diungkap kecenderungan ekspresi seni pada Batik Betawi, dikaitkan dengan profil masyarakat pendukungnya.Kata kunci: Ekspresi Seni, Ragam Hias, Batik BetawiAbstractThe increasing popularity of batik leads many regions in Indonesia to develop their own batik that represent their own traditions and unique characteristics. One of them is Batik Jakarta, that posed not only as the representation of Betawi’s custom, but also the image of Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia. As part of Indonesian craft, batik is not only a piece of textile. Batik ornaments is a visual language that reflected their maker’s custom. Nevertheless, This research focuses on the art expression in Batik Betawi, that is the development of idea or inspiration to ornament stylization.This process is conducted by styding the visual elements such as the character of line and shape, the composition of shape and color, visual style, and the ornament’s details. The object of this research is batik motives in Betawi cultural region, with the Ondel-ondel motives in two batik industrial centers, KBB Setu Babakan, Jakarta, and Batik Seraci, Bekasi, as case study. This is conducted with aesthetical approach, by performing qualitative methods. Data that have been obtained is presented with descriptive method. This research aims to discover the tendency of art expression in Batik Betawi, in its relation to the profile of traditional society in modern world.Keywords: visualization, drawing, interpretation of psychoanalysis, visual language

Abstract

AbstrakPendidikan berbasis potensi belum menyentuh ranah pendidikan dasar dan menengah di Indonesia, hal ini menimbulkan SDM sangat lamban untuk menentukan minat mereka saat menjalani pendidikan. Program kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat merupakan terapan ilmu yang dapat diaplikasikan secara langsung kepada masyarakat maupun peserta didik. Melalui program ini, masyarakat maupun peserta didik (siswa) diharapkan dapat mengembangkan potensi maupun menentukan arah minat mereka.Pelatihan ilustrasi fashion merupakan salah satu bekal keterampilan yang edukatif. Melalui pelatihan ilustrasi fashion, siswa mampu mengenal ilmu secara aplikatif serta dapat mengenal peluang usaha melalui industri kreatif sejak dini. Pada pelatihan ini, peserta diberikan pengetahuan mengenai teknik membuat sketsa fashion, anatomi fashion model, gesture, gaya dann tekstur busana, serta mewarnai sketsa fashion dengan teknik yang mudah dan sederhana. Pada akhir pelatihan, peserta dapat mempresentasikan karya yang dihasilkan sehingga kegiatan ini juga menjadi ajang untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri peserta didik.

Abstract

The Bondol eagle which has been clutching Salak Condet has been established as the Jakarta mascot since 1989. Unfortunately, this fact is not widely known by the public. In fact, most people assume that capital mascot is other icons that are far more popular, such as Monas and Ondel-Ondel. Apart from being caused by the decline in the flora and fauna resistance because the area is affected by development, one reason for the low popularity of the two mascots is the lack of representation of both of them in objects that are closely related to people's daily lives. This mascot was once the TransJakarta logo and is often present in batik motifs and posters, but is now rarely found. The latest application of this mascot actually comes in the form of Momo, the 2018 Asian Para Games mascot. Although it is not a special event held by the local government, in that representation, the Bondol eagle comes with the identity of Jakarta as one of the organizing cities. This research attempts to examine this phenomenon from the perspective of semiotics. The research is devoted to the representation of the Bondol eagle in various graphic media and visual communication related to the 2018 Asian Para Games, using descriptive-analytical methods. It is hoped that this research can become one of the references in the discussion and development of the Jakarta mascot in the media. The study was conducted with a descriptive qualitative method with a semiotics and shape morphology approach.
