Abstract

The utilization of fibered solid wastes of paper industry for partition board making has been done. Partition board is a component for housing. Solid waste is along with bonding agents cement and wood adhesive. The composition of board is 40 %, and 60 %, of solid waste, 5 – 10 % of coconut husk, and 35 % or 50 % of cement or wood adhesive.  The board making is done using some simple equipments suitable for SME. The results showed that the best partition board is obatained from the composition of 40% solid waste, 50% wood adhesive, and 10 % of coconut husk. At this composition, board has low water absorption and high felxibility.  INTISARIPemanfaatan  limbah padat berserat dari industri kertas telah  dicoba untuk pembuatan  papan partisi yang merupakan komponen bahan bangunan. Limbah padat dicampur dengan  bahan  pengikat  seperti semen dan  lem kayu .Komposisi  limbah padat adalah dari  40% , dan 60%, dicampur dengan sabut kelapa  5 - 10 %,  kemudian ditambahkan bahan penguat 35 atau 50 % berupa semen atau lem kayu. Pembuatan papan partisi  menggunakan peralatan sederhana  untuk keperluan industri kecil dan menengah (IKM). Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa hasil  terbaik  dapat dicapai  pada komposisi campuran limbah padat 40%, lem kayu 50% dan  sabut kelapa 10%. Pada kondisi ini lembaran partisi memiliki  daya serap air yang rendah  dan daya lentur yang tinggi.
