Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia. Ninety percent of DM cases are type 2 DM. DM patients often receive effective treatment but have not been able to control glucose levels, this causes the quality of life of DM patients to decrease. This study aims to assess the quality of life of type 2 DM patients based on antidiabetic therapy used at the Siantan Hilir Health Center, Pontianak City in December 2021-January 2022. The research method used was observational with a cross-sectional design. Data was collected using purposive sampling technique and 30 patients met the inclusion criteria. The research data was obtained using the Diabetes Quality of Life Clinical Trial Questionnaire (DQLCTQ). The results of the questionnaire will be converted into numbers to get a score which will be processed into the average for each domain and the total value of quality of life. Quality of life is said to be low if the value is 62.2 which is obtained from the average total value of quality of life. More patients received monotherapy (62.69%) than combination therapy (37.31%). The most widely used type of therapy was metformin (52.24%). The quality of life of patients with type 2 DM with monotherapy is higher than the quality of life of patients with combination therapy.
