Abstract

Abstract There were several human activities around the Sepinang Lake that contribute the input of organic and anorganic matter and thus influence the type and density of zooplankton. To understand the types and density of zooplankton in the Sepinang Lake, a research has been carried out in March-April 2018. There were three sampling points, namely in the inlet, in the middle of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each sampling point, the water was sampled from the surface and 2 Secchi depth. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen, pH,nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 19 species of zooplankton present and they were belonged to 7 classes, namely Cladocera (2 species), Monogononta (9 species), Crustacea (3 species), Copepod (1 species), Ciliate (2 species), Sarcodina (1 species) and Eurotatoria (1 species). The zooplankton density in the Sepinang Lake was 2,448-3,808organisms/L.The most commontype of zooplankton present in the Sepinang Lake was Ciliate.Water quality parameter values are as follow,  temperature was 30.7-32.0oC, transparency was 49.3-62.8 cm, dissolved oxygen was 4.22-5.58 mg/L, pH was 5.33-5.60, CO2was 9.32-15.98 mg/L, nitrate was 0.07-0.23 mg/L and phosphate was 0.09-0.28 mg/L. Abstract

Abstract Nygard Index can be used to determine the trophic state of waters. Calculation of this index is based on the number of phytoplankton species that are belonged to these following groups, namely  Chlorococcales, Myxophyceae, Centric diatom, Euglenophyceae, and Desmidiaceae. To understand the trophic state of the Perupuk Lake, a research has been conducted in June-July 2019. There were three sampling stations, namely station 1 (in the inlet from the Kampar River), station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and station 3 (in the end of the lake). In each station there were two sampling points, in the surface and in the middle of water column. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were phytoplankton type, transparency, temperature, pH, nitrate, phosphate, dissolved oxygen and free carbon dioxide. Results shown there were 18 species of phytoplankton present, namely Chlorococcales order (5 species), Myxophyceae (4 species), Centric diatom order (3 species), Euglenophyta Division (1 species) and Desmidiaceae (5 species). Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency 44.3-49.3 cm, temperature 28.3-300 C, pH 5, nitrate 0.11-0.17 mg/L, phosphate 0.02-0.04 mg/L, dissolve oxygen 5.07-6.40 mg/L, and  free carbon dioxide 7.3-14.6 mg/L. Abstract

AbstractCarrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life of organisms in that area. A study aimed to determine the aquatic carrying capacity for aquaculture fishing. The carrying capacity was determined based on dissolved oxygen concentration. The research was conducted during June to July 2019 in Tepian Batu Lake. Water samples were taken in three stations, namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (middle of the lake), and Station 3 (the end of the lake). In each station there were 2 sampling sites, namely surface and in the 2 Secchi depth. Sampling was done four times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were dissolved oxygen, temperature, transperancy, pH, carbondioxide. nitrate and phosphate concentration. Carrying capacity was analyzed using the Kartamihardja formula (1998). Result shown that DO concentration 3.96-5.36 mg/L at the surface; 3.13-4.37 mg/L at water column. Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency ranges from 56.5-63.75 cm, temperature 28.75-30.5oC, pH 5-5.5, carbondioxide 6-12 mg/L, nitrate 0.031-0.078 mg/L and phosphate 0.062-0.116 mg/L. Carrying capacity of Tepian Batu Lake is 1276 kg/year and number units can be operated is 12 units. The current number of floating cages (FNC) unit in Tepian Batu Lake is 25 units. Based on data obtained that number of floating cages in Tepian Batu Lake has exceeded the carrying capacity. Keywords : Carrying capacity, dissolved oxygen, and floating cages

Abstract

ABSTRACT             In the Riau University area there are several shallow waters. Activities conducted   around the waters may contribute the input of organic and inorganic pollutant into the waters. The pollutant may increase the fertility of the water and it is reflected in the concentration of chlorophyll-a content in the water. A research aims to determine the aquatic productivity based on chlorophyll-a concentration, has been carried out in March-April 2018.  Sampling was carried out in three stations, namely stations 1 (around the LPPM   building), station 2 (in the front of the   Rectorate building), and station 3 (in the Fisheries Faculty reservoir). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, transparency, DO, CO2, nitrate and phosphateconcentration. Samplings were conducted three times, once/week. Results shown that the chlorophyll-a concentration ranged from 4.04-5.12µg/L, temperature 30-310C, transparency 34-84 cm, depth 116-209 cm, DO 4.96-5.64 mg/L, CO2 14.64-17.31 mg/L, Nitrate 0.05-0.06 mg/L, phosphate 0.07-0.19 mg/L, and pH 6. Based on the chlorophyll-a concentration, the water of the waters in the Riau University area   can be categorized as mesotrophic. Keywords: mesotrophic, water quality, reservoir FPK, organic matter, aquatic productivity
