Abstract

This research was conducted of Mei-June 2013 in Pinang Luar Oxbow that is located in the Buluh China Village. This research aims to understand the vertical distributions of chlorophyl-a.Chlorophyl-a samples were collected from 3 stations. In each stations, there are 3 sampling sites, in the surface 1,5 and 2,5 Secchi depth. Sampling was done three times, once a week. Result shown that the chlorophyl-a content ranged from 10,58 – 23,21 μg/l. Water quality parameters values were: depth : 261,7–461,7 cm; temperature: 31 oC; transparency: 65–70 cm; pH: 6; DO: 3,07 – 6,4 mg/l; CO2: 3,96–11,88 mg/l; phosphate: 0,013– 0,019 mg/l and nitrate: 0,030–0,068 mg/l. Chlorophyl-a was higher in the surface than of secchi area. The result showed that Pinang Luar Lake water is mesotrofic and be support the aquatic organism.Key words : Chlorophyl-a, the vertical profiles, Pinang Luar Oxbow

Abstract

This research was carried out in the lacustrine and transition zone of Koto Panjang Reservoir from October - December 2013. Objective of the present research was to find out the vertical profile of nitrate in this reservoir. The research used survey method, samples were taken horizontally in four stations and vertically in five sampling points. The parameters of water quality measured were nitrate, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, transparancy, temperature and depth. In the lacustrine zone concentration of nitrate in the surface was 0,148 – 0,166 mg/l, in the 2 Secchi depth was 0,16 – 0,168 mg/l, in the 4 Secchi depth was 0,153 – 0,162 mg/l, in the 12 m depth was 0,158 – 0,166 mg/l and in the bottom was 0,17 – 0,192 mg/l. In the transition zone concentration of nitrate in the surface was 0,1525 – 0,155 mg/l, in the 2 Secchi depth was 0,157 – 0,158 mg/l, in the 4 Secchi depth was 0,158 – 0,175mg/l, and in the bottom was 0,176 – 0,185mg/l. The concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO) was in the range of 0,10 – 8,75 mg/l. The value of pH was in the range of 5,4 – 5,9. Transparancy was in the range of 83,8 – 105 cm. Temperature was in the range of 28 – 32,3 oC. Depth was in the range of 9,3 – 22,7 m. The vertical profile of nitrate in the lacustrine and transition zone Koto Panjang reservoir of the present reseach revealed that nitrate concentration in the transition zone was relatively lower than that of lacustrine in the surface layer of the water, but the pattern of vertical nitrate profile in each zone was similar in which it increased with increasing depth. The parameters of water quality were observed still sustained the aquatic organism life.Keywords: nitrate, the vertical profile, PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir

Abstract

The Solok Pulau Lake is an oxbow lake that receive water from the Tangon and Kampar Rivers. To understand the concentration of chlorophyll-a in the lake, this research was conducted from January to February 2015 in Solok Pulau Lake. Water samples were collected from three station, namely station1 (in the inlet from the Tangon River, station2 in the middle of the lake and station3 in the inlet from the Kampar River). Water quality parameters measured were transparency, temperature, dissolved oxygen, depth, pH, velocity, nitrates and phosphates concentration. Results shown the chlorophyll-a concentration ranged from 0.013- 0.016 (μg/L), transparency of 42-50 cm, temperature 28.3-28.70C, dissolved oxygen 1.56 to 2.17 mg/L, depth 1.56 to 2.17 mg/L, pH 5.5 and velocity 15-16 cm/sec. Based on chlorophyll-a concentration, it can be concluded the Solok Pulau Lake was oligotrophic.Key words :chlorophyll-a, Solok Pulau Lake, water quality, Tangon River and Kampar River.

Abstract

Tajwid Lake is an oxbow lake that receives water from the Kampar River during rainy season. To understand the types and abundance of phytoplankton present in that lake, a study has been conducted in Ferbruary 2016. There were 3 stations, Station 1 is in the inlet, Station 2 is in the middle of the lake and Station 3. Vertical sampling sites were decided base on the transparency of the water namely at surface water, in the middle of lake, and in the bottom of lake. Samplings were conducted 3 times, once/ week. Results shown that there are 36 species of phytoplankton present in the lake. They were classified into four classes, namely: Bacillariophyceae (8 species), Chloropyhceae (17 species), Cyanophyceae (8 species) and Euglenophyceae (3 species). The average of phytoplankton abundance was around 723 – 4,485 cells/L, species diversity index (H’) was 4.76 – 5.01, uniformity index (E) was 0.71 – 0.86 and dominance index (C) was 0.034 – 0.044. While the water quality parameters were as follows: temperature 28 – 300C, transparency 51.3 – 69 cm, depth 6.3 – 12.3 m, pH 5, CO2 4.7 – 13.9 mg/L, DO 2.3 – 8.3 mg/L, nitrate 0.02 – 0.11 mg/L and phosphate 0,02 – 0.1 mg/L. Based on the abundance of pyhtoplankton, it can be concluded that the Tajwid Lake water can be categorized as oligotrophic.Keyword : Phytoplankton, Langgam Sub-District, Tajwid Oxbow Lake

Abstract

Samsam swamp is located in the peat soil area and flooded during rainy season. To understand the water quality of the swamp, a research has been conducted from Maret-April 2016. There were four sampling sites, namely S1 is in the upstream (almost no human activity); S2 (around palm plantation), S3 (around the newly planted palm plantation) and S4 (far from palm plantation). Water samples were taken once/week for a 3 weeks period.Water quality parameters measured were depths, temperature, transparency, pH, DO, CO2, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that depths was 39-170 cm, temperature: 28-32 oC, pH : 4-5, DO :3.96-4.93 mg/L, CO2: 4-11,99 mg/L, nitrate : 0.33-0.63 mg/L, and phosphate 0.37-0.65 mg/L. Nitrate concentration indicate that the Samsam peat swamp was categorized as mesotrophic-eutrophic, and phosphate concentration indicate that the Samsam peat swamp is hypertrophic.Keywords : Samsam peat swamp, Water Quality, oligotrophic-mesotrophic,hypertrophic.

Abstract

Tajwid lake is an oxbow lake that receives water from the Kampar River during rainy season. To understand the concentration of chlorophyll-a in this lake, a research has been conducted in February 2016. The chlorophyll-a samples were collected from three statios namely station I (in let), station II (in the middle of lake) and station III (in the end of the lake). In each station, the water was sampled from the surface, in middle of water column and in the bottom of the lake. Sampling was done three times, once per week. Results shown that chlorophyll-a concentration in the surface was 13.52-15.75 μg/L, in the middle of water column was 8.18-10.85 μg/L, and in the bottom of the lake was 4.87-7.17 μg/L. Water quality results shown that transparency: 52-69 cm, depth: 6-12 m, temperature: 28-30 0C, pH: 5-6, DO: 2.3-8.3 mg/L, CO2: 4.9-13.9 mg/L, nitrate: 0.02-0.11 mg/L, phosphate: 0.02-0.10 mg/L, and phytoplankton abundance: 723-4,485 cells/L. The concentration of chlorophyll-a in Tajwid Lake indicate that the trophic status of the lake was mesotrophic, the water quality is good and it may be able to support the life of aquatic organisms.Keywords : Chlorophyll-a, mesotrophic, Tajwid Lake

Abstract

Samsam Swamp is a lowland swamp that receives water from the Samsam River during the rainy season. To understand the trophic status of Samsam Swamp, a present study based on the concentration of chlorophyll-a was conducted in March-April 2016. The method used was a survey method. There were four sampling stations namely Station 1, Station 2, Station 3 and Stasion 4. Samplings were conducted 3 times, once a week. Results shown that concentration of chlorophyll-a was 4.05 – 7.69 μg/L; temperature 28 – 33⁰ C, transparency 28 – 46.9 cm, water pH 4 – 5, orthophosphate 0.37 – 0.65 mg/L, nitrate 0.33 – 0.63 mg/L, dissolved oxygen 3.69 – 4.93 mg/L, free carbon dioxide 4.00 – 11.99 mg/L and depth 39 – 170 cm. Abstract

Abstract  Koto Tibun Reservoir receivedwater from the Tibun River.In the area around the upstream of the river, however, there are many human activities that nutrient the river and as a consequence affects the trophic status of the dam. To understand the trophic status of the dam based on Trophic Index (TRIX), a research was conducted in February – March 2018. There were 3 sampling stations namely Station 1 (riverine zone), Station 2 (transition zone) and Station 3 (lacustrine zone). Samples were taken once/week. Water quality parameters measured were DIN (Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen), total phosphorus, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll-a, transparency, temperature and pH. Results shown that the transparency was 75.3–78.6cm, temperature 25.5–25.80C, pH 5, total phosphorus 0.13–0.19 mg/L, DIN 0.45–0.50 mg/L, chlorophyll-a 3.10–3.97 μg/L and oxygen saturation 57.17–68.17 %. The TRIX value ranged from 2 to 2.5 and indicates that the Koto Tibun Reservoir can be categorized as mesotrophic. Keyword :Koto Tibun Dam, Water quality, Nutrient, Mesotrophic

Abstract

This study has been done in Pinang Dalam Oxbow Lake from January-February 2014. This research aims to understand the vertical profile of phosphatein Pinang Dalam oxbow lake. The research used survey method. The sample’swere taken from three station, the first station were at inlet, the second stationwere at middle of lake and the third station were at the end of lake. The measuringquality water parameters were depth, transparency, temperature, pH, dissolvedoxygen (DO), carbon dioxide and nitrate. Sampling vertical based ontransparency, namely at surface, 11/2Secchi depth, 21/2Secchi depth, and in thebottom of lake. The result shown the concentration of phosphate at the surface:0.03-0.04 Mg/L; in the 11/2Secchi depth: 0.07-0.09 Mg/L; in the 21/2Secchi depth:0.12-0.15 Mg/L and the bottom of lake: 0.15-0.19 Mg/L. The vertical profile ofphosphate showed the concentration increased with the increment of depth. Thewater quality parameter analyzed were temperature: 28oC–28.34oC; transparancy52.5-54.34 cm; depth: 180.67–429 cm; pH: 5; dissolved oxygen (DO): 1.64-5.88Mg/L; carbon dioxide: 6.79–14.65 Mg/L; nitrate: 0.01-0.13 Mg/L, andphytoplankton abudance: 3523363.7-4293075.48 cel/l. The concentration ofphosphate in Pinang Dalam Lake showed the tropic status was mesotropic and allthe water quality still support the aquatic organisms life.Keywords : Phosphate, the vertical profile, Pinang Dalam Lake

Abstract

Salo River is one of the Kampar River’s tributaries. Several activities conducted along the river produced pollutant that affects the water quality of the river in general. A research aims to understand the water condition in the Salo River based on physical-chemical parameters was conducted from April to May 2015. There were three stations (St1, St2 and St3) and water samples were taken once/week for a 4 weeks period. Water quality parameters measured were current speed, depths, temperature, transparency, turbidity, pH, DO , CO2, BOD5, nitrate and phosphate content. Results shown that the current speed was 17.5-38 cm/second, depths 29-36.3 cm, temperature 28-28.5 ºC, turbidity 3.34-5.36 FTU, pH 5, DO 6.89- 8.23 mg/L, CO2 7.99-8.99 mg/L, BOD5 2.39-7.29 mg/L, nitrate : 0.0275-0.0555 mg/L, and phosphate 0.0375-0.0525 mg/L. Nitrate and phosphate concentration indicate that the Salo River is in oligotrophic condition.Keywords : Salo River, Water Quality, oligotrophic
