Abstract

Abstract The condition of bonding between asphalt pavement layer can influence the behaviour of pavement structure in supporting vehicle loading. In strong bonding condition, the adjacent pavement layers will act together to support pavement loading and the other way in weak bonding condition the layers will act independently with the result that stress in every layer of pavement become higher and will decrease pavement life consequently. This study described the investigation of bonding condition using teorethical model and laboratory test. Those are developed using CIRCLY5-SAP2000 Program and Modified Direct Shear Test respectively. The results shown that there is the range of bonding parameter which starting from weak bonding until full bonding using theoretical and laboratory model. Futhermore the analysis shown that ignoring bonding condition between pavement layer will become one of factors which cause early damage in pavement structure.Keywords : Bonding, Direct Shear Test, SAP2000, CIRCLY5

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian laboratorium dilakukan untuk menguji sifat-sifat aspal Supracoat dan dibandingkan dengan sifatsifat aspal Pen 60/70. Juga dilakukan pengujian sifat-sifat dari campuran beton aspal (AC-WC) menggunakan kedua type aspal tersebut. Pengujian pendukung lain yaitu pengujian kelelahan lentur dan pengujian UMATTA, dilakukan untuk menyelidiki karakteristik kelelahan dan besaran modulus resilien dari campuran. Hasil uji karakteristik aspal menunjukkan bahwa aspal Supracoat mempunyai penetrasi yang lebih rendah (56,2 mm) dari pada aspal Pen 60/70 (65,8 mm), viskositas yang lebih tinggi (1550C) dari pada aspal Pen 60/70 (1520C) dan titik lembek yang lebih tinggi (51,50C) dari pada Pen 60/70 (48,5oC). Perubahan kenaikan nilai titik lembek setelah RTFOT menunjukkan aspal Supracoat memiliki ketahanan terhadap penuaan aspal yang lebih baik dari pada aspal Pen 60/70. Karakteristik Marshall dari campuran beton aspal (AC-WC) menggunakan aspal Supracoat memberikan hasil yang paling baik dari pada campuran menggunakan aspal Pen 60/70. Ditunjukkan oleh beberapa nilai yaitu Stabilitas pada kondisi KAO (1431,12 Kg terhadap 1413,89 Kg) dan IKS (93,3% terhadap90,16%). Hasil pengujian yang lain diperjelas dengan karakteristik modulus resilien yang lebih besar (2996 MPa terhadap 2417 Mpa) dan umur kelelahan yang lebih panjang (6331 siklus terhadap 4450 siklus).Abstract. The Laboratory work was conducted to examine the properties of Supracoat asphalt and compare it with the properties of Asphalt Pen 60/70. The properties of Asphaltic Concrete mix (AC- WC) was examined also, using those two types of asphalt. Another complimentary test, i.e. Flexure Fatigue test and UMATTA test were conducted to investigate the fatigue characteristic and to measure Resilient Modulus of mix, respectively. The result of test on asphalt characteristics showed that Supracoat has a lower penetration (56,2 mm) than Pen 60/70 (65,8 mm), has higher Viscosity (1550C) than the Pen 60/70 (1520C) and has higher softening point (51,50C) than the Pen 60/70 (48,5oC). The change of Softening Point value after RTFOT showed that the Supracoat has a resistance of ageing better that the Pen 60/70. The marshall characteristic test of Asphalt Concrete mix (AC-WC) using Supracoat gave better result than the mix using asphalt Pen 60/70, shown by these values i.e.stability of OBC (1431,12 kg to 1413,89 kg) and IKS (93,3% to 90,16%). Another test result confirmed those characteristic i.e. Higher Resilient Modulus (2996 MPa to 2417 MPa) and higher fatigue life (6331 cycles to 4450 cycles).

Abstract

Abstrak. Selama dua dekade terakhir, metoda untuk perencanaan perkerasan lentur dikembangkan berdasarkan metoda analitik, dimana dalam pemakaian metoda ini sangat diperlukan untuk mengetahui modulus kekakuan dari material perkerasan. Tujuan utama dari penelitian yang diuraikan dalam tesis ini adalah untuk menentukan dan membandingkan nilai modulus kekakuan dari campuran beraspal yang mengandung butiran ban bekas sebagai agregat pengganti sebagian dengan campuran beraspal Konvensional. Campuran Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA) tipe C (BS594.1992) dipilih dalam penelitian ini, dan pengaruh butiran ban bekas pada campuran selanjutnya diselidiki dalam penelitian ini dan nilai kadar aspal optimum untuk masing-masing campuran tersebut ditentukan dengan analisa Marshall. Abstract. During last two decade method of flexible pavement design developed based on analytical method, by which the use of this method stiffness is strongly required modulus of pavement material. The main research objective described in this thesis is to predict and compare stiffness modulus of bituminous mixtures containing scrap rubber tire as partially aggregate replacement with the conventional bituminous mixtures. A Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA) type C (BS 594.1992) was selected for investigation and the influences of scrap rubber tire as partially aggregate replacement in the mixture were investigated and the optimum bitumen content was determined.

Abstract

Belok Kiri Langsung (BKL) pada saat lampu lalu lintas menyala merah or Left Turn on Red (LTOR) on any road intersection is now confusing some drivers in this country who do not know or have never known the traffic related regulation. Indonesian Road Traffic and Transportation Law (UU No. 15/1992) with its Goverment Decrees established and issued by the President concerning the Infrastructure and Road Traffic, Peraturan Pe,erintah (PP) No. 43, 1993, article 59 paragraph 3 says that vehicles in any approach which has an LTOR sign displayed may turn left after stopping, providedit is safe to do so. The Indonesian Road Traffic and Transportation Law, UU No. 14/1992 and PP 43/1993 art. 59 p(3) provides the authority for its use. The following problem arises, that the BKI, can not be done safely on any road intersections. Many intersections have geometry deficiencies, such as lack of channelisation, lack of turning lanes, absence of sidewalks and insufficient intersection areas. On the road ontersection within the Area Traffic Control System (ATCS), this problem becomes more difficult since LTOR is not only involves in installing traffic signs, but modification on controler and detector which affect the lanes presence timed calls may required before LTOR is permitted.

Abstract

The quality of road construction is highly dependent on the quality of human resources of organizers, managers and also road users considering that the quality of construction is a product of construction activity actors including project owners (owners), contractors as implementers and also consultants both as planners and supervisors; but not to forget the road users. In general, the human resources owned by the perpetrators of activities are actually sufficient and have adequate 'abilities' both in the field of engineering and road construction, this can be seen from the large number of human resources who have attended and graduated from various training and development ranging from courses, training, education, etc. in the field of road engineering. However, the facts show that the quality of the road construction industry is still far from satisfactory as seen from the many premature damages to road construction. A new problem, the ethical problem, is relatively more complicated than the capability problem. The word 'ethics' may be too harsh and harsh, so it would be better to call it a 'culture' of willpower because it concerns not only road operators, but also road users. In general, it appears that all the problems of road construction, utilization and management are inadequate, especially those related to human resources in terms of the ethics of the human resources concerned. For this reason, it is necessary to rethink what “breakthroughs” can be made by institutions responsible for the quality of human resources.
