Abstract

Pemanfaatan batubara melalui proses gasifikasi perlu dikembangkan lebih lanjut karena proses ini dapat dijadikan alternatif untuk menggantikan perananĀ  gas alam sebagai sumber gas sintesis. Di samping itu, proses ini dapat mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan karena teknologi gasifikasi merupakan teknologi yang bersih dan dapat mengurangi jumlah gas CO2 yang dibuang ke lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan Ca(OH)2 pada proses pirolisis terhadap hasil gasifikasi arang batubara bituminus dengan medium gas CO2. Reaksi karbon dari arang batubara dengan gas CO2 pada proses gasifikasi merupakan reaksi endotermis dan berlangsung sangat lambat pada suhu di bawah 1000oC sehingga digunakan Ca(OH)2 sebagai katalisator. Proses gasifikasi batubara dijalankan dalam reaktor fixed bed. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gasifikasi arang batubara dengan penambahan Ca(OH)2 pada proses pirolisis memberikan pengaruh terhadap komposisi gas hasil yaitu berkurangnya kadar gas CO2 dan menyebabkan berkurangnya kadar belerang pada arang hasil pirolisis dan gasifikasi. Proses ini juga dapat mengurangi kadar gas CO2 sebesar 63,17% dan untukĀ  gasifikasi tanpa Ca(OH)2 , CO2 dapat dikurangi kadarnya sampai 35,2%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data pengaruh derajat keasaman (pH) dan pengadukan pada penurunan salinitas air payau dengan arang cangkang sawit. Arang cangkang sawit diperoleh dari hasil pirolisis cangkang sawit pada suhu 300oC kemudian dihaluskan dan diayak. Arang cangkang sawit digunakan sebagai adsorban yang ditambahkan pada larutan air payau dengan variasi pH 4,6,8 dan 10. Variasi kecepatan pengadukan 200, 300, 400, 500 rpm dilakukan pada pH 6. Penurunan salinitas terbesar pada variabel pH terjadi pada pH 6 yaitu sebesar rata-rata 8,62%. Pada variabel kecepatan pengadukan penurunan salinitas terbesar terjadi pada kecepatan pengadukan 200 rpm yaitu 22,33%. Kata kunci: salinitas, arang, adsorpsi, cangkang sawit.

Abstract

Cooking oil has been used repeatedly, also known as used cooking oil. Used cooking oil or used oil is usually disposed of carelessly so that it becomes waste in the surrounding environment. This community service activity aims to educate the people of Bontang City about the dangers of using cooking oil. The participants of this activity are the people of Bontang City, especially high school / vocational / MA students. So that the results of community service, especially for students in Bontang City, can improve their abilities and bridge in educating the public about the dangers and utilization of used cooking oil waste. This activity consists of discussion, demonstration, and hands-on practice. The method in this community service is practice and demonstration to provide skills to participants in determining the right formula for making soap from used cooking oil. After this activity, it is hoped that high school/ vocational / MA students in Bontang City will be more aware of the dangers of using used cooking oil and can utilize used cooking oil waste in products that have useful value.

Abstract

Water turbine is one of the driving machines where the working fluid is water that is used directly to spin the turbine runner. This research was conducted using a pelton type water turbine installastion with variations In the shape of the turbine blade. The research method used is an experimental method with a laboratory scale experimental design as well as the results of the design of this water turbine used as a practical tool for students majoring in mechanical engineering. The results showed the influence of turbine blade shape on the performance of the pelton water turbine prototype, so it can be concluded that the maximum tangential velocity is 12.141 rad/s, the hydraulic power value is 2.64 Watts, the kinetic power value is 3.886 Watts, maximum turbine power 99.141 Watts, maximum electric generator power 99.141 Watts, maximum turbine efficiency 25.512 %, and maximum electric generator efficiency 0.661 %.
