Abstract

Basic immunization is an important preventive effort to protect infants and toddlers from infectious diseases that may cause disability and death. Maternal knowledge regarding the benefits and schedules of immunization greatly influences immunization compliance in children. This community service activity aimed to optimize education regarding basic immunization among mothers of infants and toddlers to improve knowledge and compliance toward immunization programs in Patumbak Village. The activity was conducted by lecturers and students from Institut Kesehatan Deli Husada Deli Tua in collaboration with health workers and Posyandu administrators. A total of 20 respondents participated in this activity, consisting of mothers with infants and toddlers residing in Dusun I, Patumbak Village. The activity was held at Posyandu Anggrek II on Tuesday, May 12th 2026, starting at 11.00 WIB until completion. The methods used included health education, interactive discussion, question-and-answer sessions, and leaflet distribution. The results indicated an increase in participants’ understanding regarding the importance of basic immunization, immunization schedules, and the consequences of incomplete immunization. Direct health education proved effective in increasing awareness and maternal compliance toward complete immunization programs for infants and toddlers.
