Abstract

Ciliwung River which has upstream in Bogor, while downstream in Jakarta presence has very important role for the region in its path. Positive role of the river for the public interest in this area include the need of clean water sources, irrigation / agriculture, industry and others. Conversely Ciliwung River is also a source of flood disaster in Jakarta. Will consider its use, the risk of disaster resources and environmental burdens are received by the waters and the water catchment area is very large, then the existence of river quality should be monitored both the water catchment conditions or water quality. For future purposes, it would require a management with specific deadlines (5 th, 10 th, 15 th) and targets based on the quality of the water quality standards (BMA) class III, II and I. The results of the current monitoring parameters BOD, COD, fecal Coli, Coliform has a value above the threshold of water quality standards specified. While DO in the downstream segment has a value below the water quality standards. Other parameters such as pH, TSS and nitrogen have a greater trend downstream, but the value of the water quality is still under water quality standards that are targeted. Keywords: Water quality, Water Quality standards, Ciliwung river.

Abstract

Citanduy watershed  has been classified as a critical watershed in West Java. Sedimentation load at Citanduy watershed reach 5 milion cubic meters/years.  It is indicated that lagoon area “Segara Anakan” was decreased about 823 hectars. Land use changes for cultivation area at Citanduy upland causes acceleration  land degradation. Various efforts of the civil engineering and vegetative approach have been applied to control  erosion and sedimentation. Alternative technology for  controlling soil erosion and sedimentation is the application of sediment trap bioengineering.  It is application on micro catchment area, environment-friendly, and easily adapted for the farmers community.  The main for material of bioengineering sediment trap is  made of  Bamboo. Results of design that is applied in the critical area at Bukit  Bitung up land (Citaduy upland) Kecamatan Tambaksari, Ciamis Region, measuring the width between 100 cm to 150 cm, whereas the  height are between 80 cm to 100 cm. The application of this technology is effective sediment traps for micro catcment area of <5 hectars. Therefore for  a broad cachment area more sediment traps are required. In a period of not more than 1.5 month, the sediment trap  has been able to capture sediments up to 1 m3 per unit. The performance of sediment traps bioengineering also shown that bamboo as main components has grown up to not more than 30 days. The trapped sediments were restored back to the land for agricultural purposes after being add by agricultural waste. Sediments that have been processed at the same time also functions as soil amelioration or soil improvement. Key words : degradasi lahan, jebakan sedimen, bioengineering, sedimentasi, ameliorasi

Abstract

Overdrainaged phenomena on peat land after reclamated for agriculture area is indicated water management/water table control failure.  Water table depth of peat land on virgin forest that has been  reclamated is low (0.15 m) and this condition on Zamrud peat dome.  Water table dept on old reclamated peat land has better condition than peat land after new reclamated as plantation area. Peatland degradation showed overdrainage phenomena has potential happened on land clearing and  canal construction activity.  This condition have effected to water table dept  about 1 m. Overdrainaged impact on peatland has caused  fire of peatland.  For example this condition occured in  Siak Kecil peat dome and Kandis peat dome.  Keywords : peat dome, water table

Abstract
