Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Hypercolestrolemia is a condition in which cholesterol in the blood increases beyond the narmal threshold which is characterized fly increased total cholesterol levels, especially Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL ), trigl ycerid and is followed by a decrease in the levels of  High Density  Lip  rotein (HDL). One of  the diseases caused by deadly hypercholesterolemia is coronary heart disease (CHD). The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates  hypercholesterolemia is associated with more than half the incidence of coronary heari disease and more than four million deaths each year. The Indonesian people have utilized many types of plants that can be used as alternatives to support health and researchers chose dragon fruit white seat. Objective  To know the effect of white meat dragon fruit extract on changes triglyceride, HDL, LDL levels in male white rats Sprague Dawley strain. Methods: This study is an experimental study using pre -post test with control group  design. This study  used  four  groups, namely  three  control  groups  and  one treatment group. The treatment group was given white dragon fruit erimct 700mg/KgBB. Results : The results showed the most significant decrease in triglyceride levels in the K3, K4  group  with an average  decrease  of  42.18 mg/dL and 35.90 mg/dl with p<0,05. Significant increase in HDL in the K3, K4 group with an average increase of 38.21 mg/dL and 30.64 mg/dl with p <0.05. The LDL reduction was most significant in the K3, K4 group with an average decrease of 40.26 mg/dL and 27.15 mg/dL with p <0.005. Conclusions : White meat dragon fruit extract can reduce triglyceride, LBL, increase HDL levets. Keywords : White dragon fruit extract, tri8lyceride, HDL, LDL

Abstract

Background: Escherichia coli is one of the causatives of infection agents. Noni fruit that contains the antibacterial ingredients was predicted as an alternative medicine to reduce the resistance of antibiotics. Noni fruit extract can inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli. The absence of research on the active substances contained in this fruit which plays a role in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli encourages the researcher to conduct this research. Methodology: The research was an experimental laboratory with post-test only control group design. The Escherichia coli grown on Mac conkey agar. Flavonoid and tannin in noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia Linn.) diluted with 3 concentrations, 50%, 70%, 100% and 2 control groups, positive control with ceftriaxone and negative control with Dimethylsulfoxide 10% (DMSO). The treatment group were incubated for 24 hours, then the inhibitory zone formed was measured in mm. Results: The Kruskall-Wallis test showed significant difference in all concentration. The results obtained from this research showed that the average of inhibition towards Escherichia coli on positive control (22.83 mm) had the largest inhibition zone among flavonoid 100% (18.83mm), flavonoid 70% (14.67 mm), flavonoid 50% (6 mm), tannin 100% (17.33 mm), tannin 70% (10.83 mm), tannin 50% (7.50 mm), and negative control (2 mm). Conclusion: Flavonoid and tannin in noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia Linn) were effective for inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli. The 100% concentration is the most effective concentration that can be promoted as an alternative medicine. Keywords: Noni fruit, Flavonoid, Tannin, Escherichia coli, Inhibition test
