Abstract

In the current work, a simple method to prepare ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) by the interaction of zinc nitrate and KOH within an aqueous medium was presented. The yielded powder was calcined and examined by the UV-Visible (UV–Vis) optical absorption, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) Spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM) images, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The ZnO NPs showed an identification peak at nearly 372 nm during the FTIR test. Furthermore, when the particle size distribution was examined, it showed an average value of 27.34 nm.

Abstract

The concept of safety is as ancient as the history of humankind. However, as civilization progressed, this concept has showed a new dimension. Nanomaterials, the particle with diameters less than 100 nanometers (0.1 micrometers), is commonly benefitted nowadays. The use of these materials or technology has a great impact on the progress of industry, agriculture, and the advancement of scientific research. Its applications also have a direct impact to people's lives. Many researchers show interest in the unique properties of nanomaterials, ignoring the safety measures that should be taken when handling with these materials. This paper presents the main and important procedures need to be measured when dealing with nanomaterials, starting from the definition of the properties of these materials supported by some other examples. The research also highlights the roots of exposure to these materials and the personal protective equipment that should be used and how their waste can be disposed.

Abstract

Coronaviruses are a big identified group of viruses that could result in sickness in humans and animals. It was confirmed that many of these viruses caused respiratory diseases among humans and their symptoms range from popular colds to more serious diseases, such as the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The recently detected Coronavirus (called SARS-CoV-2) causes the COVID-19 pandemic, which causes a serious threat worldwide. There was no previous knowledge of this virus before the outbreak of Wuhan city in China in December 2019. However, there is progress in defining, understanding and dealing with this virus. In this review, we are focusing on the common questions regarding coronavirus transition and spread, and how to prevent the infection.
