Abstract

AbstrakKayu merupakan material yang banyak dimanfaatkan di Indonesia, salah satunya adalah untuk furnitur. Perubahan kondisi ekonomi hingga abad ke-21, kemudian meningkatnya kebutuhan furnitur baik dari luar dan dalam negeri, dan perkembangan ilmu desain di Indonesia, secara tidak langsung berhubungan dengan permasalahan ekologi. Ketersediaan sumber daya alam seperti kayu, semakin berkurang walaupun kebutuhannya semakin tinggi. Hingga kini kondisi tersebut mendorong industri furnitur di Indonesia untuk menggunakan alternatif berbagai macam kayu solid, kayu olahan hingga kayu limbah. Selain karena faktor keterbatasan persediaan kayu, aspek sosial dan budaya juga turut mempengaruhi kemunculan berbagai jenis alternatif kayu tersebut. Dari waktu ke waktu, perubahan kondisi sosial, ekonomi, dan gaya hidup, turut berperan pada kemunculan bentuk-bentuk furnitur baru di Indonesia. Pada penelitian ini, transisi kebutuhan material kayu pada furnitur akan dikaitkan dengan dinamika sosial budaya yang terjadi dari abad ke-18 hingga abad ke-21 di Indonesia. Transisi akan dilihat berdasarkan perubahan teori Material Cultural Studies, yang kemudian akan menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa sebuah material memiliki pengaruh besar terhadap karakter desain furnitur di Indonesia.Kata kunci: transisi, furnitur, kayu, Indonesia, ekologiAbstractWood is a material that is widely used in Indonesia, particularly for furniture. The impact of Indonesia economic development in 21st century, then the increasing needs of furniture both from outside and within the country, and the development of design in Indonesia, are directly related to ecological problems.The high demand for wood can reduce timber supply.Until now, these conditions encourage the furniture industry in Indonesia to use alternate various kinds of solid wood, wood processing and wood waste.Wood has a role in the dynamic cultural development of Java, both from the aspect of spiritual, philosophical, aesthetic and economic.The role can be assessed through one of the symbols of culture, namely furniture products. This study aims to describe the shift in social and cultural values that occurred on the island of Java, in particular the use of wood materials.The development of wood utilization will be explained based on the changing needs of the community, through Material Cultural Studies viewpoint. By looking at the changes in technological trends, social conditions and public taste, will be known tendency of any type of wood used today. Sustainable and ecologicalconcept for furniture design in Indonesia would be seen as an opportunity to maintain the continuity of wood materials.Keyword: transition, furniture, wood, Indonesia, ecology

Abstract

The legend of Calon Arang is one of many legends known by the Indonesian people. This legend can be said as a unique one, considering that this widely known dramatari (a mix between drama and tari = dance) Legenda Calon Arang is only performed in Bali, but actually the legend itself came from Kediri, East Java. Nevertheless, in today's society, this tradition is starting to be left behind. Calon Arang is only held on special occasions and considered to be sacred, which means this performance can't be held at any moment. The threat also comes from foreign culture such as popular culture, that usually together with the offers of new mass production technology products, causes more and more people to easily accept foreign cultures, but slowly neglecting and leaving behind their original tradition. This research is conducted as a further step to bring back the legend of Calon Arang, as one of Indonesian’s heritage, using new media which is digital media in the form of digital application. Based on theories of the visual storytelling theory, digital storytelling, and also visual language/Wimba that are presented in the form of digital application, a media that is widely known by today's society, the expectation is to make modern society know and enjoy the story, and also its philosophical values.

Abstract

Abstrak: Industri cetak saring termasuk kedalam kategori Industri Kecil Menengah (IKM) yang menggunakan teknologi cetak sederhana, industri ini memiliki banyak keterbatasan yang berimbas kepada rendahnya produktivitas. Dalam proses pencetakan multi-warna terdapat ketergantungan yang tinggi terhadap kemampuan operator terutama saat proses set-up dan cetak sehingga pekerjaan menjadi tidak efektif dan tidak efisien, sehingga. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Motion Study dengan teknik pengumpulan data Micromotion Study yang berbasis video guna menghasilkan tingkat produktivitas dari desain peralatan kerja lama sebagai pertimbangan dalam pengembangan desain usulan yang baru. Ruang lingkup penelitian adalah tingkat produktivitas dari segi efisiensi ruang, proses set-up, proses cetak, dan simulasi produksi multi-warna. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa desain Meja Panjang memiliki keunggulan pada kesederhanaan dan visibilitas sistem kerja seperti pada proses penggantian multi-skrin dan proses trouble shooting, akan tetapi memiliki kekurangan seperti rendahnya efisiensi penggunaan ruang, efisiensi jarak transportasi, dan efisiensi waktu set-up, sehingga dapat menghambat proses naik cetak warna berikutnya bahkan proses produksi secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

Current trends seem to accredit motion as a sensible biometric feature for human identification in spite ofphysiological parameter which related to the shape of the body. As in many image processing system, therecognition is running under the circumstances of the lighting condition that may moving object acquitioned bythe computer. Through this principes, this paper presents the application of video inter-frame analysis systemfor determining human motion from the sagittal view video sequences. By using this method, the behavior ofperson can be recognized and determined the type of motion. Some researches have coined the termbehaviometrics for this class of biometrics. The experiment was conducted by asking subjects to conduct thesimple motion. Eight healthy male subjects participated in the experiment to raise from the deep squatting (STS)at the three different foot elevations: full squatting (FS) which the plantar feet were fully contact to the floor (0degree), slope squatting (SS) which a 15 degrees of wedge was applied underneath the feet, and tiptoe squatting(TS) which subjects rose the heel by extending the metatarsal joint at their preferred height. The result showedthat raising the heel significantly affected the postural adjustment that at TS condition was significantly smallerin forward displacement on the knee and the hip during ankle dorsiflexion and influenced to short the time takenat the forward movement to conduct STS movement than shown at FS and SS. Significant differences were alsoappeared in the parameter of task period and segmental body angle. These findings suggest that the differencesway to achieve STS movement in some ways can contribute to decrease task period and to differ the pattern ofmotion that furthermore supports the identification in behaviometrics.Keywords: behaviometrics, motion pattern, video acquitition.

Abstract

Empowering interior design to lead to better development can be done from small things such as paying attention to the means of education for autistic children. Interior designers can play a role in building educational facilities in accordance with the behavior of children with autism. Autistic behavior can be caused by not being able to process information properly from the stimuli of the physical environment (space) around it. The purpose of this study is to analyze the behavior of children with autism as a first step if they want to build an interior design for children with autism education in accordance with the behavior, so it is expected that if they know the behavior in the room, then the interior designer can design the educational facilities according to their needs and will maximum. The limitation of this study is only to analyze the behavior of autistic children in the therapy room according to the researcher's perspective as an interior designer. The method used is observation of children's behavior in the room during the therapy process, using video recorders. Analysis was carried out by anova statistical test. The results showed that there were differences in the number of children's behavior in the room when with the therapist and when alone. Before the therapy process takes place, the child will carry out the adaptation phase, showing curiosity whether the space / object makes the child comfortable / uncomfortable. In addition, children have the same behavior that is easily distracted with interior elements.

Abstract

AbstrakRaga dayang adalah salah satu dari sekian banyak produk kerajinan tradisional Karo. Raga dayang merupakan produk kerajinan anyaman rotan. Desa Kuta Male adalah salah satu desa perajin raga dayang. Produk ini merupakan produk pelengkap dalam pernikahan adat Suku Karo. Dahulu, merupakan sarana bawa bagi perempuan Karo bila bepergian maupun berbelanja. Sekarang ini, masyarakat Karo pada umumnya sudah tidak lagi memiliki produk tradisional ini. Jumlah perajinnya semakin berkurang. Hal ini dapat berdampak pada tradisi menganyam rotan di Kabupaten Karo lambat laun menuju kepunahan. Tidak adanya inovasi desain yang sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman merupakan faktor penyebab kepunahan tersebut. Pengembangan produk raga dayang menjadi tas rotan kontemporer bertujuan untuk mengangkat kembali keterampilan perajin raga dayang dan salah satu budaya lokal masyarakat Karo dalam gaya desain kontemporer. Metode penelitian yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif melalui pendekatan eksperimental dan ATUMICS. Metode kualitatif deskriptif digunakan untuk mengolah data awal hingga peneliti menemukan teknik/cara menganyam, corak anyaman, ornamen, bentuk dasar, dan cara pembuatan raga dayang, setelah itu peneliti menggunakan metode ATUMICS dalam melakukan pengembangan desain. Selanjutnya desain-desain tersebut diujicoba (eksperimental) sehingga menghasilkan purwarupa (prototype). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan raga dayang dapat dikembangkan menjadi produk rotan alternatif dengan ciri khas ornamen Karo.Kata Kunci: pengembangan, raga dayang, anyaman, rotan.AbstractRaga Dayang is one of the many traditional Karo craft products. Raga Dayang is a rattan wicker craft product. Kuta Male Village is one of the village craftsmen Raga Dayang. This product is a complementary product in the traditional wedding of Karo people. Previously, it was a means of carrying for Karo women when traveling or shopping. Nowadays, Karo people in general are no longer having this traditional product. The number of craftsmen is decreasing. It has an impact on the tradition of weaving rattan in Karo district gradually towards extinction. The absence of design innovations that are in accordance with the times is a factor in the extinction. The development of Raga Dayang products into contemporary rattan bags aims to revive the skills of the Raga Dayang craftsmen and one of the local cultures of the Karo people in a contemporary design style. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative through an experimental approach and ATUMICS. Descriptive qualitative method is used to process preliminary data until the researcher finds the weaving techniques, patterns of weaving, ornaments, basic shapes, and how to manufacture the Raga Dayang, after that researchers use the ATUMICS method in conducting design development. Furthermore, the designs were tested (experimental), resulting in prototypes. The results showed Raga Dayang can be developed into an alternative rattan product with the characteristic of Karo ornaments. Keywords: development, raga dayang, woven, rattan..

Abstract

One of the best fashion products made in Bandung is shoes. Bandung micro scale shoe industries have a great potential to reach international market. But it is still constrained by conventional product marketing. This research aims to explore digital information technology to develop digital product marketing. At this moment, digital marketing strategy has been able to reach the gaps that cannot be done through conventional strategy. This research focused on digital interaction development intended as a bridge for consumers to get product information through augmented reality. User can see the shape, material, and color closely resembling real shoes through augmented reality feature. Abstract

ABSTRAK Dalam pelaksanaan program Kampung Berkebun di Kota Bandung, masyarakat yang sebagian besar berprofesi utama bukan sebagai petani mendapati kendala dalam perawatan tanaman produktif seperti sayuran. Hal ini dikarenakan warga harus meluangkan waktunya untuk menyiram tanaman secara rutin setiap hari. Sedangkan kesediaan waktu luang sebagian besar selepas aktivitas utama selesai, sehingga aktivitas tersebut sering terabaikan. Untuk mempermudah aktivitas tersebut perlu adanya pengembangan sistem penyiraman tanaman yang mengutamakan efisiensi waktu. Pengembangan sistem ini dilakukan melalui uji coba terhadap responden di wilayah studi kasus RT. 2, RW. 2, Kelurahan Kacapiring, Kota Bandung. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan sistem pengairan terhubung melalui satu titik lebih efisien dalam konsumsi waktu saat melakukan aktivitas penyiraman tanaman. Pada pengamatan uji coba terlihat adanya perubahan perilaku warga dari yang sebelumnya tidak rutin melakukan penyiraman tanaman, menjadi lebih rutin. Kata kunci: kampung berkebun, pertanian kota, sistem penyiraman. ABSTRACT In the implementation of Kampung Berkebun Program in Bandung, people who mostly work as other than farmers face a major problem in tent a productive plants like vegetables. It is because the residents have to take some time to water the plants regularly every day, while there are lack of willingness from most residents in their spare time. Most of their times are spent for  the primary activity such as working or doing business, so that the activity is often overlooked. To facilitate these activities necessity, the medium planting development is concern in plant watering system that priorities in time effective and efficiency. The development of this system is conduct through a trial against the residents of RT. 2, RW.2, Kampung Berkebun, Bandung. The results of the research showed single point connected irrigation system is efficiently reduce the time consumption in watering activity. Observation of the medium planting trial shows that the resident's behaviour in watering plant are changes. Abstract

Bambu sering digunakan sebagai material pengganti kayu karena karakteristik materialnya yang memiliki kemiripan dalam proses dan pertumbuhannya yang cepat sehingga berkontribusi pada penghematan dan pemulihan hutan dunia. Kegiatan produksi kerajinan bambu menghasilkan limbah yang berupa serat dan potongan kecil. Limbah tersebut biasanya dibuang dan dibakar karena bentuknya yang tidak beraturan dan sulit untuk dimanfaatkan menjadi produk kerajinan. Penelitian ini mencoba mengidentifikasi siklus hidup bambu sebagai material dan mengidentifikasi berbagai cara untuk memanfaatkan limbah produksi bambu. Terdapat berbagai alternatif untuk memanfaatkan limbah bambu; dalam hal ini arang bambu memiliki banyak manfaat yang dapat memperluas alternatif dalam pemanfaatan bambu. Arang bambu merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam sejak zaman dahulu dan saat ini popularitas arang bambu terus meningkat karena manfaatnya untuk pemurnian air dan pembersih udara, kosmetik, dan aplikasi medis, serta dapat memperpanjang umur tangkai bunga yang telah dipotong. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan data berupa material sederhana dari berbagai workshop. Melalui eksperimen material pada air kotor, diketahui bahwa arang bambu dapat memperpanjang umur tangkai bunga sekaligus dapat membersihkan air. Konsep desain mengenai bagaimana mengemas bubuk arang bambu yang digabungkan dengan teknik tenun dikembangkan bersama perajin sebagai wujud usaha dalam memberikan nilai tambah bagi ekonomi lokal. Arang bambu dan berbagai manfaatnya akan memperpanjang siklus hidup material limbah produksi kerajinan bambu menjadi produk yang ramah lingkungan.  Bamboo has been frequently used as a substitute material for hardwood products due to its sustainable material characteristics: fast growing and lightweight. It thereby contributes to the saving and restoration of the world's forest. During the production of bamboo products, its wastes which are in the form of fibres and small fractions are thrown away and burned due its irregular form that makes it hard to reuse. This research attempts to identify the lifecycle of bamboo as a material and to find out various ways to make use of the waste from bamboo production. Considering various alternative ways to utilize bamboo waste, bamboo charcoal has a lot of benefits that could widen of the options of bamboo use. Bamboo charcoal is considered to as a natural resource since ancient times, and it recently gains more popularity as a natural water and air purifier, cosmetics and medical applications, and the life extender of cut flower. Through material experimentation in dirty water, it was found that bamboo charcoal did extend life of cut flowers as well as clean the water. Design concepts of how to package charcoal powder with bamboo weavings were developed with craftsmen, as an additional value for the local economy. Bamboo charcoal and its uses would extend the life of bamboo waste into a product which is environmentally sustainable.

Abstract

Kesadaran akan lansia semakin hari semakin terasa di Indonesia. Saat ini terdapat banyak fasilitas ramah lansia dan pengadaan kegiatan rutin bagi lansia di beberapa daerah yang memungkinkan lansia untuk beraktivitas dengan normal. Namun, perhatian terhadap permasalahan utama lansia yaitu kesepian dan jarak antar generasi masih kurang diperhatikan saat ini. Kedua permasalahan tersebut saling berkaitan dan memberikan efek buruk pada lansia dan masyarakat Indonesia secara luas. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini diadakan untuk menganalisis permasalahan tersebut dan merancang solusi yang tepat. Salah satu solusi adalah pembentukan kegiatan yang menggabungkan kelompok usia muda dan kelompok usia lanjut dalam suatu kegiatan. Salah satu kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan oleh kedua kelompok usia secara bersamaan dan menciptakan interaksi yang hangat adalah kegiatan mendongeng. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan desain etnografi. Dengan melakukan observasi lapangan secara langsung, peneliti dapat merancang suatu sarana mendongeng yang dapat mewadahi kelompok usia lansia dan anak untuk mendongeng sambil belajar dengan menyenangkan.
