Abstract

The villagers are experiencing social problems such as shifting values, land transfer, complex regeneration of youth in agriculture, and land gentrification that make the community increasingly cornered. The firm conception of knowledge about the village plays a role in seeing the people as a lagging community. The presence of actors who parade the village community in Malang City brings a new concept, Kampung Cempluk tourism village, to support the community to move from the marginal condition. This study analyzes how communication patterns occur during the mobilization actors conduct social organizing when promoting the Kampung Cempluk tourism concept in Malang City. The method used is descriptive qualitative by applying interviews and technical data analysis to find in-depth findings. The research findings show that the communication process carried out by the mobilization actor can infiltrate the values of the social wisdom of the Cempluk community. This communication process occurs in various activities such as tahlilan (communal feast for event), prayer, or PKK (Family Welfare Program) meetings. Furthermore, this study shows that the process of transforming knowledge about Kampung Cempluk is directly conveyed through social routines. This social routine encourages the community to collectively agree on the Kampung Cempluk Festival (CVF), where social organizing is carried out in the movement process. The study results show that villagers who are known as disadvantaged groups can pattern complementary communication into symmetrical communication. Submission of concepts by village movers triggers a collective spirit among them and direct action in maximizing the implementation of CVF, and then increases social relations with other stakeholders such as university students, lecturers, and sponsorship. Keywords: communication patterns, kampung cempluk festival, social organizing, tourism.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital platforms in Indonesia has changed the way young travelers adopt information. Young travelers increasingly rely on user-generated content available on digital platforms, particularly Online Consumer Reviews (OCR) such as Google Reviews. This study examines the impact of the central route dimensions, which are part of the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) message processing route, on the information adoption behavior of young travelers visiting the Millennium Glow Garden tourist attraction, a popular destination among youth due to its high-tech offerings. The study uses data from 385 respondents who have visited this destination with the help of Google Reviews. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted on the six central route dimensions: information timeliness, information understandability, information relevance, information accuracy, value-added information, and information completeness. The findings provide strong evidence that timely, easily understandable, relevant, accurate, value-added, and complete information significantly influences the information adoption behavior of young travelers. These findings confirm the applicability of central route processing in the ELM within the context of tourism, particularly among young travelers who are closely tied to the digital evolution.

Abstract

Purpose: The phenomenon of media convergence has reshaped the role of radio broadcasters. This study focuses on Suara Surabaya FM and Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) in Surabaya, examining how both commercial and public broadcasting institutions are adapting to digital transformation. Radio broadcasters were chosen as research subjects because they serve as frontline communicators, representing human adaptation in sustaining broadcasting relevance within a convergent media environment. The aim is to build a theoretical framework for understanding how professional competence evolves through adaptation, multitasking, and digital integration in convergent media practice.   Methods: This study used a qualitative grounded theory approach and involving 19 purposively selected informants. These comprised 13 experienced broadcasters (at least 10 years) directly adapting to media convergence, and 6 validation informants for data triangulation: a new media manager, a human resources manager, and a CEO. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and field observations and analyzed using open, axial, and selective coding.   Findings: The study reveals that broadcasters must reconstruct their competencies by mastering digital skills, fostering creativity and innovation, and maintaining professionalism. These skills are driven not solely by individual agency but shaped through interactions between personal capacity and organizational structures, ensuring radio’s relevance amid technological shifts.   Originality: The originality of this study lies in its attempt to link media convergence with the reconstruction of professional competence through the concept of boundary negotiation, thereby providing a theoretical explanation of how technological and organizational changes transform the nature of broadcaster professionalism.
