Abstract

This study aims to analyze the figure of speech or language style contained in the short story "Kemarau" by Andrea Hirata. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. This research was carried out by reading the short story carefully and thoroughly, then analyzing and marking each sentence or word included in the figure of speech, then from the data that had been reviewed or analyzed the writer found various kinds of figure of speech in the short story "Kemarau", including the personification figure of speech, hyperbole figure, simile figure and cynicism figure. The number of personified figures is 11, the hyperbolic figure is 17, the simile figure is 2 and the cynic figure is 7.

Abstract

Pendidikan dasar memerlukan metode yang kreatif untuk membantu siswa memahami materi abstrak seperti perubahan wujud benda. Diperlukan media yang inovatif dan menarik untuk membantu siswa memahami materi. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk menghasilkan sebuah media buku pop up  berbasis mind mapping pada materi perubahan wujud benda kelas IV Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Subjek uji coba penelitian ini adalah 2 dosen ahli materi dan media, 1 guru serta 20 siswa kelas IV SD. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Research and Development). Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara serta kuisioner atau angket. Hasil dari uji ahli materi diperoleh skor 96% dengan kualifikasi sangat baik dan ahli media diperoleh 94,5% dengan kualifikasi sangat baik. Hasil uji kepraktisan melalui respon guru kelas IV SD Negeri 3 Penarukan diperoleh presentase 100% dengan kualifikasi sangat praktis, respon siswa perorangan memperoleh 98% dengan kualifikasi sangat praktis serta uji coba kelompok kecil diperoleh 94,2% dengan kualifikasi sangat praktis. Implikasi penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi contoh media inovatif yang dapat diadopsi oleh pendidik dalam berbagai topik pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, media pop up book berbasis mind mapping dinyatakan valid dan praktis digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Public speaking is the act of orally presenting in front of a public with the aim of conveying ideas/thoughts, information or certain messages using the right strategy and techniques. Public speaking is also an art and a science, it involves the ability to communicate clearly, easily understood and attract the attention of the audience. As a form of art, public speaking combines the power of words with the ability to influence and inspire an audience using a persuasive or even provocative style of language. It is more than just delivering a speech; it is about the art of connecting with audience emotionally as well as intellectually , conveying a message, and making an impact accordance with the speaker's goal. As a science, public speaking related to effective communication strategies and techniques. Great communication doesn’t just happen, it has to be thought and prepared, structured and delivered with good techniques. To ensure an effective communication, speakers can developing and implementing verbal and non-verbal language skills. Verbal aspect involves everything related to the words used by a speaker. Among other things, it includes the selection of appropriate words/diction, proper sentence structure, the ability to express clear and logical thoughts, and message delivery techniques. The technique of delivering a message here is related to vocal/sound, including; vocal volume, intonation, accentuation and rhythm to convey the message clearly and captivate the audience's ears. Nonverbal aspect related to the way of delivering the message, includes the use of body language, eye contact, facial expressions, and vocal intonation. By developing skills of verbal and non-verbal aspects in public speaking practice and applying the right techniques delivery, a speaker can convey a message more powerfull and also impactfull.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form, meaning, and function of diction and figurative literary language of the journey contained in a collection of poems by A Romantic Journey the Beginning by Desi Anwar. Desi Anwar's method of stylistic assessment of ARJTB used in this study is descriptive-analysis through literature studies. The technique used in this study is by collecting data in the form of documentation, namely from ARJTB poetry by Desi Anwar as the research material object. While the formal object is the diction and figurative literature of travel. The results showed: (1) Studying denotative and connotative diction, the choice of words in my lyrics shows that the contents of ARJTB poetry are not merely channeling factual information but there are convincing goals, persuading, reminding, and insinuating with contextual understanding of a particular culture; (2) The figurative language in ARJTB's poetry hides the true meaning with an image and the poet has tricks to create a richer, more effective, and more suggestive effect in the language of poetry; (3) By Meaning, the ARJTB poem contains a fairly detailed description of the author's experience and perception of a place. I lyrics can give pragmatic information about a place visited and a description of people's culture through the author's perception; (4) The function of travel literature can analogize a story of narration and change one's intellectual attitudes to be wiser and pay attention to the meaning of beauty in every corner of the place (spot) that has been explored.

Abstract

Based on public opinion which states that the international curriculum is better than the national curriculum, so many parents pay more to send their children to private schools with international labels even though they have to spend a lot of money. This is caused by the presence of several factors into consideration for parents. For example, student learning factors that put them into various exams and memorization system, while in the international curriculum at the elementary level, students are more emphasized on a deep understanding of the phenomena and lessons that students want to know without worrying about the final result in the form of grades. That is why the government is trying to fix the world of education by changing the curriculum system from KTSP to the 2013 Curriculum, where the 2013 curriculum system has several things that are considered to slightly adopt the existing system in the international curriculum. Based on this, the author wants to find out more about the differences and agreements between the 2013 Curriculum and the IB Curriculum. This study uses a comparative descriptive method with a qualitative approach. This study aims to describe the differences and similarities between the National Curriculum (2013) and the International Curriculum (IB-PYP). The results of the study showed that there were significant differences between the two curricula. Where the National Curriculum (2013) places more emphasis on the content of lessons and final results, while the International Curriculum (IB-PYP) places more emphasis on student character towards the process and understanding of each subject.
