Abstract

This study discusses the role of women in the Physical Revolution in Bali. The appearance of a woman in the history of politics in Bali as a leader has been seen since ancient Balinese times. However, the rise of women seems to have only been seen when the government established the Shanti Girls School. Armed with knowledge and experience in the field of organization, Balinese women are aware of the importance and meaning of independence for a nation. When the Dutch colonial government and NICA troops returned to occupy Bali in March 1946, women played a very important role in defending the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Women played various roles, such as in the logistics sector as a member of the soup kitchen in charge of providing various types of food to the fighters; in the health sector by helping fighters who were injured and also supplying various types of medicine to the fighters; as a liaison in charge of conveying information on the state of the fighters and the state of the enemy to the leader of the fighters.

Representation of women in Jembrana Regency Legislative Institution in 2009 election reached 20%. Although it has not reached 30% in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 10 of 2008, the representation of women in the Legislative Institution of Jembrana Regency is the highest among the regencies/cities in Bali. When closely examined, the participation of women in the political sphere has deconstructed itself due to a struggle of power and mobilization. Automatically the law that sets the quota of women’s involvement in practical politics is 30%, especially those si ing in the legislative institution can signal a practice of mobilization. Within certain limits, the process of mobilization appears in the election of women legislators, because women are not really interested in practical politics, but are mobilized by the state, political parties and by the closest people such as husbands. The paper aims to explain the election of female legislators in Jembrana Regency Legislative Institution which indicates that there has been a struggle of power between participation and mobilization.

Abstract

Development in the field of science and technology has resulted in very basic changes, including changes in the perspective between the positions of men and women. The impact of these changes has resulted in more opportunities for women to participate in the public world. The same is true for women in Kusamba Village in the fish management industry. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by using a purposive sample informant determination technique. While the data collection techniques use observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The theory used to analyze the problem is Pierre Bourdieu's generative structural theory and Foucault's knowledge-power relation theory. The results showed that the struggle of women in Kusamba Village in the fish processing center was able to improve the welfare of families and communities. This can be proven by the increasing number of women's savings in the Kusamba Village Credit Institution. The success of women in improving the welfare of their families and communities has not been able to increase the bargaining position of women in politics, both in the family and in the community.
