Abstract

Abstract News on online portal has advantages over news on conventional media in constructing reality and affecting the audiences. This research aims to analyze online text news about Indonesian’s political elites phone-tapping by Australian intelligence agency in Indonesian and Australian online news portal. This research uses text analyzing technique with interpretative explanation application. Data collection were done by observation on four online news portals, and then continued by data selection in the form of related news text. This news text is acquaired by using search engine in the internet. Collected data then being analyzed using Van Dijk Critical Discourse Analysis to apprehend the social discourses constructed by the online news portals, ideologies behind it, and the impact of those news publication on Indonesia-Australia diplomatic relationship. The results of this research indicates that there is a difference in discourses between Australia and Indonesia’s online news portal regarding the phone-tapping of Indonesia’s political elites by the Australian intelligence agency. Reality construction which is built by those news portals shows some differences, caused by disparities of press system and communication cultures between the two nations. Besides that, media ideologies also affects that phone-tapping publication. Those news publication in the process inflicts reaction on the people of the two nations, which affects the diplomatic relations between the two country.Abstrak Berita pada portal berita online memiliki kelebihan dibandingkan berita pada media konvensional dalam menkonstruksi realitas dan mempengaruhi para pembaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis teks berita mengenai kasus penyadapan para elit politik Indonesia oleh agen rahasia Australia pada portal berita online nasional di Indonesia dan Australia. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis teks dengan aplikasi interpretatif eksplanasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi pada empat portal berita online, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pemilihan data berupa teks berita yang terkait. Teks berita ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan search engine pada internet. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan Analisis Wacana Kritis Van Dijk untuk menangkap konstruksi wacana sosial yang ingin dibangun oleh keempat portal berita online tersebut, ideologi yang berada dibaliknya, dan pengaruh berita tersebut terhadap hubungan diplomatik antara Indonesia dan Australia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara wacana yang dibangun oleh portal berita online nasional Indonesia dengan wacana yang dibangun oleh portal berita online nasional Australia mengenai kasus penyadapan isi pembicaraan telepon para elit politik Indonesia oleh agen rahasia Australia. Konstruksi realitas yang dibangun antara portal tersebut menunjukkan adanya perbedaan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh sistem pers dan budaya komunikasi yang berbeda antara kedua negara. Selain itu, ideologi media juga mempengaruhi pemberitaan kasus penyadapan tersebut. Pemberitaan tersebut kemudian menimbulkan reaksi pada masyarakat kedua negara, yang pada kelanjutannya berpengaruh terhadap hubungan diplomatik antara kedua negara.

Abstract

Partisipasi politik pemilih pemula di Indonesia, khususnya di Kota Parepare, terbilang rendah. Hal ini menjadi perhatian ketika memasuki pemilu serentak pada tahun 2019 yang merupakan pemilu pertama di Indonesia dimana pemilihan legislatif dan eksekutif dilaksanakan secara bersamaan. Oleh karena itu, partai politik baru, utamanya partai politik yang khusus menyasar segmen pemilih pemula seperti Partai Solidaritas Indonesia perlu memiliki strategi komunikasi politik yang inovatif dan kreatif untuk menarik minat para pemilih pemula.Hasil analisis penelitian kemudian mengidentifikasi strategi komunikasi politik  yang digunakan oleh Partai Solidaritas Indonesia kota Parepare, Sulawesi Selatan, dalam meningkatkan partisipasi politik pemilih pemula sekaligus meningkatkan perolehan suara, baik pada tataran komunikator, pesan, saluran, komunikan, serta efek dan feedback.Secara umum, usaha Partai Solidaritas Indonesia kota Parepare untuk meraih suara pada pemilu serentak tahun 2019 terbilang gagal, akibat hambatan yang dihadapi partai tersebut, baik yang berasal dari dalam (internal) maupun yang berasal dari luar (eksternal). Namun secara khusus, kehadiran partai ini telah ikut meningkatkan partisipasi politik kelompok muda dan pemilih pemula di kota Parepare.

Abstract

Populism is one of the most knowned and at the same time most debatable concept. Various acticles and paper has been written regarding the definition of populism, along with its constituting elements. Yet, until now there is still no common consensus between social scholars regarding how populism should be define. One way to understand populism is by seeing it as a political communication with certain key elements. The identification of populis communication along with its key elements will path way for an easier and better understanding of populism to be applied in further field research.

Abstract

Political participation for young and new voters in Indonesia, particularly in Parepare, is fairly low. This has come in light during simultaneous election in 2019, which was the first election in Indonesia where legislative and executive legislation were held in the same time. Which is why, as a new political party, especially the ones that targetted new voters such as Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (Indonesia’s Solidarity Party) needs to have an innovative and creative political communication strategy to attract the attentions of these new voters. This research analysis identifies these political communication strategy being used by Partai Solidaritas Indonesia branch Parepare, South Sulawesi, in their attempts to increase new voter’s political participation as well to heightened PSI’s vote, whether at the level of communicator, messages, channels, audience, and effect or feedbacks. By using observation and interview methods this research discovered that generally, Partai Solidaritas Indonesia’s attempt to seize significant votes in the 2019’s election were failing, due to several obstraction stems from internal causes as well as external ones. But in particular, the presence of this party has contributed to the increasing political participation of young and new voters in Parepare, South Sulawesi.

Abstract

UMKM or Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is one of the important economic sectors in Parepare. MSMEs are the biggest business sector in demand by young people in the city, especially those that engaged in the culinary sector, and they absorb the second largest workforce. Es Duren Caramel and Saogi.ID. are two of them. But with limited capital, they need to use a marketing communication mix that suits their abilities. The alternative is to use social media as a channel for their marketing communication mix. This study uses qualitative research methods with observation and interview techniques to conclude that this two MSME are using the WhatsApp and Instagram application to support the marketing and sales of their products. It is their preferred choice for advertising and marketing. There are several advantages of social media which later become the reason why MSME in general need to use social media as a communication mix for their marketing, and few challenges. In the future, these two MSME have great potential to be more intensive and efficient in utilizing social media as a marketing communication mix platform. However, their owners need to broaden their creativity in creating content related to their products in order to attract more potential consumers. They also need to maintain a more personal relationship with their customers to ensure their costumers loyalty and transform them from being just a consumer, into an advertising agent for these MSME’s products on their respective social media.
