Abstract

Cessation of Violence against women and children is a target that must be achieved by 2030 (SDG’s). An increase in violence cases in Lampung since 2015-2017 rose from 41 to 272 cases. The purpose of this research was to determine the phenomenon of acts of violence against women and children: demographics, victims, perpetrators, incidents, related factors and variables that most influence the incidence of violence. The research used secondary data in the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (SYMPHONY-PPA) of the Lampung Empowerment and Child Protection Office in 2018 totaling 273 cases. The design uses cross sectional, then tested using chi square and multiple logistic regression with a significance level of 95 percent. Types of violence were sexual violence 188 (79.3 percent), female victims 203 (87.9 percent), child victims 181 (76.4 percent), age of victims 13-17 years 97 (40.9 percent). As a result of trauma violence (96.2 percent). 230 male (97 percent), age 25-44 years 92 (38.8 percent), adult age 207 (87.3 percent), 55 neighbors (23.2 percent), outside perpetrators 156 (65.8 percent). Pause-report less than 7 days 121 (51.1 percent), location of the incident at home 167 (70.5 percent). The biggest services for victims are complaints and 75 health services (32.5 percent). There is a relationship between the age of the victim (child-adult) (p = 0.003) OR = 2.9 (1.4-5.7), the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim (p = 0,001) with the type of violence experienced. The age of the victim is the most dominant variable with violence (B exs = 2.2), there is an interaction of the victim-perpetrator relationship with the event-report interval.

Abstract

Reproductive health for adolescents with disabilities is often disregarded, and education on personal hygiene is insufficient because some people perceive menstruation as a sensitive topic and have a false belief that adolescents with disabilities have no sexual desire. This study aimed to determine the overview of personal hygiene behavior among adolescents with physical and intellectual disabilities when facing menstruation. The method used was qualitative, with case studies, in-depth interviews, and observations for data collection. The informants comprised four adolescents aged 19-21 years, two mothers, and two therapists for special needs children. This study was conducted at two growth and development clinics in South Jakarta, Indonesia, from July to September 2021. This study found a lack of apprehension about menstrual personal hygiene among mothers and adolescents with disabilities, a lack of understanding about menstrual personal hygiene in general among adolescents with disabilities, and inappropriate menstrual personal hygiene behavior among adolescents with disabilities. To conclude, this study underlines the importance of improving the ability of adolescents with disabilities in terms of menstrual hygiene behavior.

Abstract

University students are vulnerable to mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. However, there is still limited research examining factors associated with mental health help-seeking among educated populations. This study aims to identify factors associated with the intention to seek mental health help among undergraduate students at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia (FKM UI). This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design with quota sampling (n=108). The dependent variable was intention to seek help from mental health professionals, while the independent variables were attitudes toward help-seeking, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Univariate analysis showed the mean score for intention was 2.64 (SD=0.53). The mean scores for attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control were 3.22 (SD = 0.47), 2.91 (SD = 0.4), and 2.88 (SD = 0.41), respectively. Spearman’s correlation test results showed that only perceived behavioral control was positively associated with help-seeking intention (p < 0.001), while attitudes and subjective norms were not associated with intention (p = 0.094 and p = 0.284). Based on these findings, health promotion efforts to improve mental health help-seeking among FKM UI undergraduate students should place greater emphasis on strengthening perceived behavioral control.
