Abstract

Agroforestri juga sebagai model pertanian berkelanjutan. Sistem agroforestri terbentuk atas tiga komponen pokok yaitu perhutanan, pertanian, peternakan.

Abstract

1997 – 2001 rata-rata laju evapotranspirasi kedelai 3.21 mm hari -1, 2002 – 2006rata-ratalaju evapotranspirasi kedelai 3.29 mm hari -1, 2007 – 2011 laju evapotranspirasi kedelai 3.35 mm hari -1.Dampak perubahan iklim menyebabkan terjadinya.

Abstract

Over the past 50 years (1970-2020) the world's population has risen by an average of 1.49% per year so that in 2020 it reached 7.79 billion people. This increase automatically increases food needs. While to this day there are still over 820 million undernourished people. Food legumes have enormous potential in supporting food security because they are rich in nutrients, including high energy, protein, carbohydrate, fiber, and other nutrients. Even among them, like chickpeas have higher energy content than some major cereal crops. Food legumes production continues to increase from year to year. Compared to three decades ago, soybean annual production more than tripled with production in 2017 reaching 352.2 million tons, as well as pulses that increased more than 35 million tons with production in 2017 reaching 96 million tons. These improvements are not only supported by field expansion, but also the impact of technological improvements which have effect on increasing yield. This review describes the trends in increasing production and yield of food legumes, as well as the progress of breeding technologies in order to increase diversities have impact on increasing the yields and adaptation against the environment. These explanations are discussed in each food legume species

Abstract

Nitrogen is a component of several biomolecules that are essential for all organisms' growth and development. Nitrogen fixation is the biological process that converts molecular nitrogen to ammonia. Biological nitrogen fixation is mediated by diazotroph microorganisms that use nitrogenase enzymes to enhance atmospheric nitrogen. Much of this is accomplished through a symbiotic interaction between plants and diazotrophic bacteria. Microbiology and plant biology are discussed in symbiotic nitrogen fixation discussions. Some of the nitrogen fixation mechanisms mentioned in this paper begin with the formation of nodules, the action of the nitrogenase enzyme in reducing nitrogen to ammonia, and the presence of rhizobia in nodules. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the nodule formation process, the role of the nitrogenase enzyme in reducing nitrogen to ammonia, and the presence of rhizobia in nodules. A more complete literature review on biological nitrogen fixing in plants is required to obtain more specific information.

Abstract

Pueraria javanica Bent. is a tropical leguminous ground cover crop commonly planted in oil palm plantations to reduce soil erosion, fix nitrogen, and suppress weed growth. This plant is known to be resistant to fluctuations in low and high light intensity. Pueraria javanica has the ability to induce nodule formation by growing root hairs on the main branched root through a symbiosis with the bacterium Bradyrhizobium japonicum, stimulating the root surface to encourage nodule entry. In addition, legumes have the ability to bind with soil rhizobial bacteria, which fix atmospheric N2. This is a form of N that is not available to plants, but can fix N2 from the soil. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of variations in sunlight intensity on nodule formation in Pueraria javanica and to determine the effect of sunlight intensity on vegetative growth and morphological development of Pueraria javanica. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of Asahan University campus, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province, with an altitude of ± 25 meters above sea level from January to March 2025. The research was conducted using a randomized block design method consisting of paranet and IAA auxin treatments. The use of paranet was divided into four levels, namely control without paranet, paranet with transparency of 50%, 75%, and 95%. Meanwhile, the application of IAA auxin consisted of three concentration levels, namely 100 ppm, 200 ppm, and 300 ppm. The observed variables were: plant height, number of leaves, number of leaflets, leaf area, fresh weight of plants, root length, number of root nodules, fresh weight of roots, dry weight of roots. The analysis of significant differences was made using the Tukey's HSD method. All data analysis used the SPSS application version 16.0 (SPSS, Chicago, United States). The results of the study showed that the treatment of various percentages of paranet on Pueraria javanica showed a significant effect on all observation parameters with the best growth in the control treatment. The application of auxin on Pueraria javanica showed a significant difference in the number of leaves, number of leaflets, leaf area, fresh weight of plants, root length, number of root nodules, fresh weight of roots, dry weight of roots. With the best growth in the control treatment. The two treatments above between the treatment of paranet percentage and the administration of auxin showed an interaction that had a significant effect on several parameters observed, including the number of root nodules, fresh weight of roots and dry weight of roots
