Abstract

The dynamics of couples' relationships significantly impact a family's unity and harmony. This hinges on how spouses interact and communicate, influenced by patriarchal or matrilineal views they uphold. Communication dynamics in these relationships direct family goals. This study delves into how Javanese couples nurture their bonds. Employing qualitative methods, it includes in-depth interviews and group discussions with seven couples, selected based on education, socio-economic status, marriage duration, careers, religious values, and motives. Findings show Javanese couples favor dialogue over conflict, opting for a collaborative and compromising approach. They uphold mutual trust and flexibility in financial matters ("sing longgar endi"). Family discussions during tension aim to preserve collective values. Domestic work communication highlights flexibility in task distribution. The research underscores Javanese couples' connection to unique ethics, social norms, philosophies, gender perspectives, structures, language, traditions, myths, and religion.

Abstract

Unsafe school children's snacks (PJAS) pose health risks and can cause various diseases. To address this, the PJAS Safety Intervention Program was introduced. The COVID-19 pandemic brought changes to the definition of PJAS and altered communication patterns in program delivery. This study evaluates the success of the program implemented by the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority Regional Office in Yogyakarta during the pandemic. It identifies factors inhibiting its effectiveness through a communication audit. The research used an evaluative qualitative method involving interviews with informants to assess planning and preparation and surveys with school community respondents to evaluate program communication. The study followed the General Guidelines for Communication Audits in Government Agencies. Results indicate that the program was effectively implemented and can be enhanced by improving communication dimensions. Key strategies include strengthening message delivery through direct engagement with policymakers, expanding media use by adding hardcopy materials, improving message clarity with comprehensive posters detailing program stages, and fostering public feedback through information sharing and participation mechanisms, particularly at junior and senior high school levels. Additionally, expanding promotional media can further optimize program outreach. The communication audit concluded that the PJAS Safety Intervention Program successfully met its objectives through effective management with minor, manageable obstacles. These findings suggest that the program can continue with improved communication strategies to enhance its impact.

Abstract

This research aims to find a model of governance for collaborative communication between members of the secretariat and members of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Yogyakarta Special Territory (DIY) in the implementation of legislative functions. The methods used are phenomenological methods with qualitative-descriptive research techniques. The research data are obtained from in-depth interviews, face-to-face interviews, the DIY regulatory manuscripts of the DPRD, and meetings relating to rigidity, Propemperda 2020, public hearings, and especially Tree of Mind 2024. These data were analyzed using four theories, namely, the relationship communication theory, the face negotiation theory, the boundary management theory, and the collaborative governance theory. The study obtained the results of 13 models of communication governance in five categories as well as a general model of collaborative communication. In the first category, the communication relationship between board members, fractional staff, and staff members of the secretariat department, four models were found. In the second category, that is, communication relations between council members and staff of the fraction, two models were discovered. The conclusion of this research is that the 13th model of communication governance is a portrait of a phenomenon that needs to be improved in the DIY DPRD environment so that the selection of a common model of collaborative communications governance can support the communication relations of the secretariat and the members of the DIY DPRD in carrying out legislative functions
