Abstract

Figurative languages are often found in everyday life, one of which is in the industry news. This study aims to know and understand the purpose of the use of figurative language style used in the news industry in the mass media. This research is a descriptive qualitative research by applying observation method and record technique. The results showed that 25 pieces of industry news data contained 15 pieces of metaphors, 8 pieces of personification, 1 piece hyperbola and 1 piece synecdoche. In general, it can be concluded that metaphor is the most commonly used in industry news.

Abstract

Listening merupakan skill pertama yang dimiliki seseorang dalam berbahasa. Listening juga merupakan salah satu skill yang diujikan dalam mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris. Banyak mahasiswa Jurusan MLIA Politeknik ATI Padang mengalami kesulitan dalam mengerjakan soal ujian akhir praktikum listening Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan tingkat kesulitan soal ujian akhir praktikum Bahasa Inggris agar dapat dijadikan input untuk perbaikan pengajaran materi kuliah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 33 buah soal ujian terdapat 15 buah soal yang berada pada rentang 0,76-1,00 dan termasuk soal dengan kategori mudah, 6 buah soal berada pada rentang 0,26-0,75 dan termasuk ke dalam soal dengan kategori sedang, dan 12 soal merupakan soal dengan kategori sulit yang berada pada rentang 0,00-0,25. Secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa soal ujian akhir semester praktikum listening jurusan Manajemen Logistik Industri Agro mempunyai tingkat kesulitan 0,53 dan berada pada rentang 0,26-0,75 sehingga termasuk soal dengan kategori sedang

Abstract

One of the coffee producers in West Sumatra is the Solok Sirukam Sepakat Producers Cooperative, which has a business line called Agroforestry Unit focusing on coffee cultivation and processing. The brand name of the produced coffee is Solok Sirukam. The main issue currently faced by the cooperative is the storage of coffee beans after drying. So far, the beans have been stored in a disorganized manner on display racks. Additionally, the layout of the storage warehouse does not meet the applicable standards. Therefore, this activity aims to design a proper and adequate coffee bean storage rack to ensure the green beans meet storage standards. This will enable the coffee producers' cooperative to implement good coffee storage practices and produce beans according to proper processing standards. The result of using the newly designed storage rack shows a more organized arrangement. The rack includes tiered shelves with circular metal dividers, which allow for air circulation between the stacks of coffee beans, helping to maintain their moisture. The storage rack is designed to be tiered and columned, allowing for the storage of more coffee beans and grouping products with the same production code, facilitating easier retrieval for the next processing stage.
