Abstract

The emergence of the 4.0 era requires the world of education to adapt to technology. Practicing and learning English can take the advantage of the sophisticated technology, especially applications that can be downloaded from students' smart phone. Students acknowledge that English learning done in the classroom is easy for them to forget because it is rarely used in everyday life. Practices done in the classroom do not have enough time for all students to speak English, and students are less motivation to speak English outside the classroom. Integrating Instagram into the process of teaching English speaking is believed could motivate students to speak and increase their speaking ability. Various features on Instagram can help students in doing assignments. Tasks may be packaged attractively within the variety of videos based on a certain theme and uploaded to Instagram. This study aimed to determine students' perceptions related to the use of social media Instagram in learning English speaking. This descriptive study used forty-four students Communication Science in academic year 2019/2020 who took Bahasa Inggris Keahlian. To determine students' perceptions, researchers used questionnaire adopted from Dornyei, 2011. The results of the study showed a positive or good response on students' perceptions towards the use of Instagram in learning English Speaking. Furthermore, Instagram can be used as another medium in teaching speaking. This is strengthened by the increase in self-confidence, learning motivation, and student interest in speaking in English.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the mitigation of the COVID-19 pandemic based on local wisdom in the Ogan Komering Ulu district. The main research questions are how the community interacts in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and interpreting the forms of local wisdom used by the Ogan ethnic community in handling and preventing the spread of COVID-19. The approach used in this research is qualitative with phenomenological studies. The research subjects are the Ogan ethnic indigenous people who live in Kelumpang Village, Gunung Tiga Village and Ulak Lebar Village. Informants selected through purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the Ogan ethnic community interpreted the covid-19 pandemic as a form of paving the way for the community to utilize natural resources that could be used in handling and preventing COVID-19. The community takes actions based on cultural philosophy in tackling the covid-19 pandemic in the form of using antiseptics made from plants originating from the garden, such as boiled red betel leaves mixed with lime which is useful for killing germs that stick to the body. hand. Take advantage of sunlight when doing farming activities. In addition, it also makes ingredients made from nature which people often call "Uluan Medicine" such as lemongrass, turmeric, sungkai leaves, red ginger, and temulawak. The spices are boiled and drunk every day by the Ogan ethnic community before carrying out Beume (Farming) activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini ingin melihat bagaimana kontestasi partai politik baru dalam memenangkan suara masyarakat di Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui deep interview dengan para pengurus partai politik baru di Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu. Dalam Pemilu 2019 terdapat empat partai politik baru yaitu Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI), Partai Persatuan Indonesia (Perindo), Partai Garuda, dan Partai Bekarya. Melalui pendekatan model Strategi Perolehan Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Marwell dan Schmitt ditemukan bahwa partai politik baru belum mempunyai gagasan besar didaerah dalam hal misi membangun daerah, hanya melanjutkan apa yang ada di Pusat. Kemudian yang perlu disoroti adalah mengenai pengkaderan partai yang belum maksimal, hanya sebatas insidental dan faktor kedekatan dalam merekrut anggota maupun calon legislatif partai tersebut. Partai politik baru di daerah belum dapat mentransformasi visi misi pusat secara sederhana sehingga bisa diterima oleh masyarakat di daerah.
