Abstract

Language variations are often encountered in daily communication, one of which is in the communication of the online game PUBG Mobile player community. The game programming language is English, so they have indirectly learned to understand the meaning of the language used by the online game. Based on these reasons, the researcher wants to explain the language variations used PUBG Mobile players by Tamy e-sport community in Lubuk Basung and also the factors that cause it. This research uses the theory of Chaer and Agustina about language variations that are caused not only by their narrative, but also by their social interactions. The researcher used qualitative methods. The purpose of this research is to explain the form of language variations used in player PUBG Mobile and their factors. The results of the research show that in the communication of PUBG Mobile players by the Tamy e-sport community there are language variations in the form of code-mixing, abbreviation, and Jakarta dialect. Code-mixing is the most commonly found in their communication. The factors that influence language variation in the communication of PUBG Mobile players in the Tamy e-sport community are environmental factors, habitual factors, and practicality factors in speaking

Abstract

Compound words are one of the elements found in the field of morphology. Where the morphology is the study of morphemes, and morphemes are elements of language that have meaning and contribute to support meaning. The morphology field will involve two elements, namely the free element and the bound element. The problem in this study is to analyze the compound word found in the Jakarta post. The word compound which is discussed is the compound word that is open (separate word writing).This research is a type of research belonging to the field of linguistics. This study also uses Qualitative Descriptive research methods. This research method refers to the form of the word. In addition, this research also uses library research or library research. Putaka's research only discusses the data that has been provided by processing and donating data obtained from data sources by using the basic theory that supports the research. In this study the writer took data sources from one edition of the Jakarta Post. All data needed comes from the data source.The initial step used by the writer is to extract raw data taken from the source. After all the raw data is collected, the author will classify the data in several groups. Since the writer only discusses three topic issues, the information is in accordance with the problem. The first problem is the form of the compound word separated which is found in the Jakarta Post Newspaper. Second is what is the meaning of the compound words before and after combined. And the last is the rule that is owned by the compound. Based on this research, the writer find the uniqueness that results from a separate word combination. Among them is if one word is combined with another word it will have a different meaning. Based on this research the author understands in depth about the separate word combination.

Abstract

This research contains the title "Code Switching in Sigapokna language changed by Minangkabau people in Sigapokna" viewed from a structuralism perspective, this research discusses language contact occurring in bilingual or multilingual communities, because in this society it uses more than one language. The occurrence of language code switching in Sigapokna is due to the mixing of two languages ​​between the Sigapokna language and the Minangkabau language, native speakers of the Minangkabau people who settled in Sigapokna. Limited to some basic ideas related to observation into three questions as follows: (1) What is the form of code switching in the Sigapokna language, (2) What is the Sigapokna matrix in Minangkabau speakers, (3) What are the causes of code switching in the Sigapokna language. used is from Nababan about sociolinguistics used to answer the purpose of this research. For data analysis methods, the research used is a qualitative and quantitative approach. This approach emphasizes the meaning and understanding of the mind, reasoning, definitions of certain situations (in some contexts), more to examine matters relating to daily life such as the culture of an area. The purpose of research is usually related to practical matters. Data analysis is also a process of simplifying data into forms that are easier to read and interpret to look for broader meanings and implications from the results of research over language codes in Sigapokna. Data collection techniques in this research, to get the data and information needed, researchers used literature research techniques. In literature studies, researchers use techniques that are played with interviews and record data, materials, or references related to the problem and purpose of the research. Using library research techniques in finding data relevant to the subject of analysis. From the data collected amounted to 563. Data in the Minangkabau language form was mixed with 280 and the language while in the Sigapokna language form was 283. From the collection, the matrix language was 280/283×100% of the Minangkabau language. Sigapokna language is mixed with Minangkabau 283 so, it can be concluded that the mixed Sigapokna language is 283/280 × 100%. The occurrence of language contacts or code switching depends on the location or where someone lives. If someone is in an area with different languages ​​and cultures, there will automatically be a code transfer between the speaker, the speech partner and the speech partner in order to avoid a misunderstanding. From the conclusion of the code switching data above, native Minangkabau speakers are more dominant using the Sigapokna language.

Abstract

This research aims to see whether or not there is a positive correlation between students' motivation and speaking skills. The population of this research is students of class X man 2 Padang in the 2028/2019 school year. Total students of all are 315 students. In determining the sample, researchers used cluster sampling techniques by taking two normal and homogeneous classes. In this study the total sample was 59 students. In collecting data, researchers used questionnaires and documents. Questionnaire to see student motivation used by students in TALK and documents to measure students' Speaking comprehension. In analyzing data, researchers used the product moment formula. After analyzing the data, the researchers found the value of the cognitive strategy t-test was 0.32 with a significant level of 0.05. The results of the t-table are 0.256 with a significant level of 0.05 and degree of freedom (df = n-2). This means that the t-count is higher than the t-table (0.32> 0.256). This means that the t-test is higher than the t-table so the hypothesis in this study is accepted. Based on this research it can be concluded that motivation in speaking ability influences students' speaking comprehension.

Abstract

This research is pragmatic approach study an analysis of speech act used in Jac Schaeffer's Wandavision. The objectives of this researcher are to find out the types of illocutionary acts are performed by all the characters utterance, and to find out the types of illocutionary act dominantly used in Jac Schaeffer's wandavision. The researcher used descriptive-qualitative method to describe and analyze the selected of illocutionary acts which are watching movie and then classifies them according to George Yule’s and Yan Huang's concept types of illocutionary acts. Technique of collecting the data are (1) downloading the movie and movie script of Jac Schaffer’s Wandavision, (2) watching the movie while correcting the script based on the movie (3) taking notes which types of speech act were used in it (4) groups the speech act that occur based on Searle’s and Huang’s theory about speech act. The researcher used descriptive analysis which focus on classifying the types of illocutionary acts and the types of illocutionary acts used in Jac Schaeffer’s Wandavision carried out by all the character. The researcher found 165 speech acts in all episodes of the Wandavision series, namely 33 representative speech acts, 17 commissive speech acts, 79 directive speech acts , 3 declarative speech acts, and 33 expressive speech acts. The most dominantly used type of illocutionary act in Wandavision series is directive speech act consisting of 79 utterances with percentage of 47.88%.

Abstract

This thesis deal with the types of Code Mixing found in Tere Liye’s Novel ”Tentang Kamu”. The thesis is focused on analyzing the code mixing used in the text within the novel. The main purpose of this thesis is to find out the types of Code Mixing in Tere Liye’s Novel ”Tentang Kamu”, to find out the most used type of the Code Mixing and to analyze the reasons and functionality of the particular Code Mixing used. The data of this study is 167 clauses containing code mixing that found in in Tere Liye’s Novel ”Tentang Kamu”. This research was conducted by using Descriptive Qualitative Research. The technique used to collect the data was documentary technique reading, studying, and analyzing all the data. The data were analyzed by using Hoffman theory of Code Mixing. Based on the data analysis, it was found that there were three types of Code Switching found in Tere Liye’s Novel ”Tentang Kamu” which is Intra-sentential Code Mixing, Intra-sentential Code Mixing and Involving Change of Pronunciation Code Mixing. Furthermore, There are seven functions Code Mixing that is found within the text in Tere Liye’s Novel ”Tentang Kamu”, which is Talking About Particular Topic, Quoting Somebody Else, Being Emphatic about Something, Interjection, Repetition Used for Clarification, Intention of Clarifying the Speech Content for Interlocutor, and Expressing Group Identity. The most dominant types of Code Mixing used in Tere Liye’s Novel ”Tentang Kamu” was Intra-sentential Switching with 134 clauses out of 167 clauses found in the text (80,2%). Furthermore, the most dominant functions of Code Mixing that is found within the text in Tere Liye’s Novel ”Tentang Kamu”, which is Talking About Particular Topic (126 clauses out of 167 clauses, 75,4%).

Abstract

This study entitled Analysis of the Use of Word Speech Action through Socio-Cultural approach : This Speech Action Study aims to analyze speech actions that contain socio-cultural values commonly used in the 'Dictionary of Indonesian Expressions'. The theory used in this study is the theory of Speech Acts by Leech (2017: 39) which focuses on the theory of speech actions. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The data analysis method uses Primary data and Secondary data by collecting primary data that can be found in the object of study which in this case is from the book 'Dictionary of Indonesian Expressions'. The data collection technique uses sorting techniques and categorizes data from tranksrip or books that are used as research objects into Primary and Secondary data categories and analyzes phrase sentences that contain socio-cultural elements in them. The results of the analysis show the magnitude of the socio-cultural influence on speech action which consists of many factors. Trust and culture are the biggest major factors in being the influence of speech formation and people's attitudes of taking action and speaking.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the main character, the forms of psychological conflict get by the main character, and the main character efforts to resolve the psychological conflict in the novel Persuasion by Jane Austen. This research uses a literary psychology approach with Hippocrates character theory, Freud's personality, Freud's classification emotions, and Freud's ego defense mechanism. Method of collecting the data in this research is descriptive method. Method of analyzing the data in this research is a qualitative analysis method. Data collection technique of collecting the data in research obtained by library techniques, reading techniques, and notes-taking technique. The data analysis technique of analyzing data in this research is categorization step. The results of the research showed that the main character has a kind, patient, caring, act quickly and logistically, want to be love and love, pessimistic, and willing to sacrifice. The forms of psychological conflict that the main characters get are id, ego, superego, the concept of guilt, shame, hate, and love. The main character efforts to resolve psychological conflict get are regression, sublimation, estimation, repression, rationalization, reaction formation, and displacement.

Abstract

The title of this research is "The Struggle to Find Identity as Seen in Mark Twain's Novel The Adventurs of Toms Sawyer". The problem of this research is focused on Tom's struggles using Kennedy's (2016) theory, Tom's adventures which reflect his true identity using Mark and June's (2012) theory and external conflicts experienced by Tom as reflected in Mark Twain's novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer using Kenny's (1966) theory. The approach used in this research is psychology. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The technique used in this study is a documentary based on Mason. The results of this study indicate that all of Tom's struggles in this novel are based on the majority of people who always think that Tom is a delinquent, naughty boy. And Tom's struggle to get the girl he loves so much. It took a struggle to prove that Tom was actually a good boy. The adventures of Tom, who is looking for his true identity, is caused by the people of evaluate, that Tom is a very naughty child and the attitude of the whole society, which is often unpleasant, finally makes him look for happiness or pleasure with adventure, which in the end, his adventures make his identity change from the beginning. always known as a naughty child who turns into a good, smart child and becomes a role model in the village. The external conflict occurs because sometimes humans disagree with other people because of their mischief.
