Abstract

Low service level is a serious problem for distribution companies in the pharmaceutical sector of Peru, mainly due to the uncertainties in the supply chain, coming from suppliers and customers. An important contributing factor is the inadequate management of inventories, since they do not know in advance the amount and right moment to place the order, thus generating a negative economic impact. Faced with this scenario, the proposal of this study is based on the development of an optimal supply policy for the sector considering two echelons (distributor and retailer), with the aim of increasing the service level and, therefore, the performance of the supply chain. The proposed method was solved analytically, and the solution has been illustrated with data obtained from an enterprise in the pharmaceutical sector using a sensitivity analysis; in turn, it was observed that as the service level increases, a greater total profit of the chain is obtained

Abstract

The objective of the article is to show how quality tools help the management of the supply chain in the agricultural sector, in this way quality management of the supply chain will improve operating results in companies that produce asparagus. The company is located in Trujillo, Peru; where the managers of each area were interviewed to determine the practices that will be used in the agribusiness sector. Through the review of the literature, the practices that will be used are supplier relationship management, operations management, and human resources management, the right design and application of these practices will achieve improvements in operational results. The proposed model, Supply Chain Quality Management, is an innovative method that will have a positive impact on the agribusiness supply chain. In addition, quality management in the supply chain is an unusual topic to find in research. Finally, asparagus is a high consumption vegetable and this study provides a great value in increasing economic indicators and competitiveness within the industry.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the Supply Chain (SC) of the Coffee Industry, for organic production and develops the relationship between Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Supply Chain Integration (SCI) with the performance of Cooperatives and Coffee Associations in Junin Region, Peru. It also analyzes the current scenario of the Coffee Sector and the participation of the SC in the processing and distribution of Organic Coffee in Junn, Peru. A diagnosis process was made in the certified organizations belonging to the market, through results obtained from surveys and interviews that were applied in the sample space; this diagnosis indicated that they do not have a correct flow of information and materials, and evidenced the low level of interactions between the members; all this related to the SC. The final objective of this research is to improve the competitiveness of the organizations through the increase in the performance of the SC, for which a model of Integration appropriate to reality is proposed

Abstract

The present research seeks to show the importance of applying process management techniques and food safety norms in the operational processes of the supply chain to know the meaning and the need for an integrated hybrid model. The article reviews the sugarcane distillery sector of Peru and its main operational problems. Based on the literature reviewed and discussed with academics who have knowledge of the food supply chain, an integrated hybrid model was developed to help any distillery with lower levels of competitiveness than its competitors in other sectors, such as pisco, applying techniques of process management and food safety to increase the efficiency of liquor distilleries. The findings confirm that distilleries can increase their efficiency, thanks to the higher performance of their operations after their alignment with the integrated model.

Abstract

The keen research objective is to develop a quality system in the Supply Chain Management geared to the agribusiness sector. The Supply Chain Quality Management (SCQM) proposed for blueberry companies must improve their operational performance. This study includes micro and small agricultural enterprises located in the Caete region of Peru, where thanks to the interviews and questionnaires, it was possible to determine the critical practices, which will be applied in the agribusiness sector. An important point of this research is the literature review found to enrich the methodical procedures that are the most important practices of the innovative SCQM model. The research shows that the critical practices to develop the quality management in this sector are Customer Relationship Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Process Management and Human Resources Management. These correctly designed and implemented practices will lead to operational improvement and other qualitative advantages. This research turns out to be completely innovative because the use of the recently proposed technique of Quality Management into the Supply Chain combined with the best practices will be very useful knowledge to the agribusiness sector. The implementation and development of quality systems for the main practices of SCQM is a differentiating factor that is rare to find in similar research. On the other hand, the development of the Peruvian case study focused on the blueberry industry provides great practical value to supply chain operations management of quality. Finally, the knowledge embedded in SCQM applied to small blueberry companies in an emerging country can provideadded value to management to increase the competitiveness of the agribusiness sector.

Abstract

High competitiveness forces companies to reduce their costs and optimize their processes throughout their supply chain. One of these supply chain processes is manufacturing, where the objective may be that the machines work at their maximum efficiency and capacity. This research proposes to increase the effectiveness of the printing process by improving the maintenance applying the Lean concepts. The research will serve as a guide for other companies in the printing industry that seek to increase their production based on the effectiveness of their equipment focused on maintenance processes, which is an important component in their supply chain manufacturing.

Abstract

This paper deals with the management of spare parts in the automotive sector using Lean practices in a synergistic manner. Managing cost-effective spare parts is essential for manufacturing and service companies. One of the most difficult challenges in effective management of spare parts is to manage and control the levels of stock. Effective management is essential to achieve the best service level in the automotive industry, unfortunately it is an industry which faces a great uncertainty in the demand for spare parts. The management of spare parts is difficult due to the infrequent profile that characterizes market demand. This creates a challenge among the distributors who need to have a large number of items (part numbers) in stock to avoid loss of sales. This paper shows the results of a case study on demand forecast of spare parts and inventory control, selecting the best policies within each SKU category. The methodologies achieved a reduction of the stock rupture, savings in purchases of supplies and greater fulfillment of orders that generated an increase of 22.49% in Sales.
