Abstract

AbstractFulfilling the needs of housing plays an important role in the effort of improving the welfare ofthe people and it is one of the main indicators of a successful development. Therefore it needs todo a research on the on the implementation of residential en-vironment in the area of comparablescale, so that it can produce a description of the implementation of housing policy with theResidential Environment in the area of com-parable scale, identified regulations related to thehousing development within the resi-dential environment in the area of comparable scale, andcomposed problems and obs-tacles to the housing development within the residential environmentin the area of com-parable scale. In an effort to realize the area of housing and settlement withthe envi-ronmental residential comparable, the regulation of a SKB three ministers in 1992 Guidelineson Housing Development and Residential Settlement within balanced environment. Thenthe rules are set further in the decision of the State Minister of Public Housing in 1995.Environmental policy implementation in residential areas has not yet matched the position ofstrategic development activities in the area of housing. The substantive policies are considerednot important and neglected by stakeholders in the field of housing.

Abstract

In the development of residential property development nowadays, it is growing rapidly. This is also influenced by the increasing need of the population for housing on increasingly limited land, so the government is trying to develop vertical housing. In the midst of increasingly poor air quality, many people are considering healthy and clean housing. The current condition of apartments as multi-storey residences is often faced with crucial energy performance problems. One of the most common examples is hygiene factors and indoor thermal discomfort caused by daily activities of temperature changes and vertical temperature stratification. In response to the two problems above, developers are trying to get buildings with green building certification from GBCI as one way to create green housing. This study aims to create parameters for assessing the performance of conventional apartments and Green Building certified apartments in tropical areas in several aspects, especially in Indonesia. as a consideration in reviewing the cleanliness and health of an apartment. The data collection method used is a literature study from several related sources.

Abstract

Mosques, serving as places of worship for Muslims, require a high level of speech intelligibility to achieve the solemnity of worship. Due to rising urban temperatures, many mosques in tropical urban areas are transitioning from their previously open-designed condition, relying more on natural ventilation, to enclosed ones by leaning more on artificial ventilation. This study aims to understand the influence of space openness on speech intelligibility in mosques. Speech intelligibility measures how clear a voice is in a room and is measured by the speech transmission index (STI) method. This research utilizes the quantitative approach, integrating site observations, on-site measurements, and computational simulations. Focused on Masjid UI as the case study, the study simulates open and enclosed design configurations across three scenarios: full, half-full, and empty rooms. The results show that a mosque with an open design has a higher STI than a mosque with an enclosed design. However, the difference is insignificant due to several supporting factors in the existing condition, such as the square-shaped plan design with a pyramid dome, equal loudspeaker sound distribution, and a crowded worshippers’ condition.
