Abstract

The objective of this reseach is to find out the difficulties and the dominant factor that faced by the English students in understanding the listening section of the toefl test. This research used descriptive quantitative method. 18 students as the total population and 18 students become a sample of this research. The instrument of the reasearch was questionnaire adopted from Hamouda in Raini (2019). The questionnaire consist of 27 statements and devided into 7 tables. The result of this research shown that the highest percentage by using mean is in physical setting (50%) and the dominant factor is in physical setting (50%) where the problem that were the difficulty to concentrate with noises around and unclear sounds from poor quality-CD player are the biggest difficulties to the English students UNIB. It could be concluded that the content of listening test and physical setting become the highest difficulties and the dominant factor that faced by English Students UNIB. It was recommended for the  English lecturer should pay more intention towards to listening material and find more suitable method or technique in teaching listening course and students should find another option to cover the listening skill.

Abstract

 This research aimed to find out the variations of teaching and learning based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, this research focused on the classroom learning activities in the lesson plans. This research employed a descriptive qualitative study. The subject of the research was nine lesson plans that developed by teahers at SMPIT IQRA. The data of this research was the classroom learning activities were classified the variations of teaching and learning based on Bloom’s Taxonomy stated in the 2013 Curriculum. The first finding showed that, there were some variations  in classroom learning activities of lesson plans. By three domains of learning based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, those are Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor. The teachers were fulfilled the criteria of learning activities in lesson plans. But, the lesson plans still need to increase and remake the team of lesson plans system, because the lesson plans that used by teachers were same to each class in the same level.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the classroom managements based on curriculum 2013 applied by the English teachers of SMP Negeri 9 Kota Bengkulu in the academic years 2021/2022. The subjects consisted of three English teachers that were; teacher A (Female), teacher B (Female), and teacher C (Male). This research utilized descriptive qualitative method. The data were obtained by the observation checklist and interview guideline. The results of this study displayed those three English teachers applied 10 of 10 the components of classroom management curriculum 2013, but the teachers did not apply all the features. Teacher A dominantly used 3 of 10 components there were; 1) Teacher Feedback, 2) Teacher Wardrobe and 3) Adjusting the Material with The Students’ Learning Ability, with the total of all component’s percentage 73.4%. Teacher B also dominantly used 3 of 10 components such as; 1) Teacher Voice, 2) Time Management and 3) Teacher Wardrobe, with the total of all component’s percentage 73.4%. In contrast, teacher C dominantly applied 4 of 10 components there were; 1) Teacher Feedback, 2) Students’ Talking Time, 3) Teacher Wardrobe and 4) Adjusting the Material with The Students’ Learning ability, with the total of all component’s percentage 80%. In conclusion, three English teachers applied all the components of classroom management, but they did not apply all the features.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini berjudul Pembimbingan Pembuatan Proposal Penelitian Tindakan Kelas bagi Guru Bahasa Inggris di SMP Kecamatan Muara Bangkahulu Kota Bengkulu. Pengabdian ini bersifat bimbingan dan pengarahan terhadap para guru yang mengajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMP yang berada di kecamatan Muara Bangkahulu kota Bengkulu. Ada 3 sekolah menengah pertama yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini yaitu SPMN 11, SMPN 17 dan SMPN 22 dimana masing- masing sekolah diwakili dua orang guru kecuali guru dari SMPN 11 yang dihadiri semua guru bahasa Inggris yang ada disekolah tersebut. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan presentasi tentang cara pembuatan proposal penelitian tindakan kelas yang berlangsung sekitar 2 jam di Laboratorium SMPN 11 yang dibuka oleh kepala sekolah SMPN 11. Di acara ini terjadi juga diskusi antara penyaji dan guru yang semuanya berjumlah 21 orang. Pada umumnya para guru sudah pernah mengikuti pelatihan tentang penelitian tindakan kelas tetapi mereka belum pernah membuat sendiri dari awal penelitian tindakan kelas ini. Disini para guru juga berharap proposal yang mereka tulis nanti akan dilanjutkan dengan penelitian dan laporan serta membuat artikel. Setelah sesi pembimbingan para guru diminta membuat proposal penelitian tindakan kelas . Dalam proses pembuatan proposal tersebut para guru dibimbing oleh ketua dan anggota pengabdian. Para guru juga dibimbing cara mencari referensi di internet dan memparaprase literature. Mereka juga kesulitan dalam mengerucutkan cakupan penelitian yang tergambar dijudul. Dalam pembimbingan ini para guru terlihat mendapatkan pencerahan dalam membuat penelitian tindakan kelas. Akhirnya Proposal penelitian berhasil dikumpulkan dari tiap-tiap sekolah yang terdiri dari bab 1, 2 dan 3 serta referensi. Video kegiatan pembimbingan pembuatan proposal penelitian itindakan kelas ini juga sudah diunggah di youtube. Kata kunci : pembimbingan, proposal , penelitian tindakan kelas.

Abstract

This research analyzes the Civil Engineering department students' needs for English learning materials and the need regarding the language element by students in English learning material in the civil engineering department. Populations in this research were carried out in the Department of Civil Engineering, at the University of Bengkulu. This research used descriptive quantitative research with questionnaire as the tools in collecting data and interview was carried out to find out in-depth and strengthen the questionnaire. To analyze the data, the writer involved two steps in analyzing the data collected; Give questionnaires to civil students using Google Form and then they were given 2 days to fill out and Analyze and explain the results of the list of answers from the questionnaire. The result of this research showed that the civil engineer students want to improve their English speaking skills and listening skills to communicate in their activities in the field of civil engineering where the material provided is easily understood by the students. In addition, the language element they want is more conversational. The English conversations given are more situational conversations and the texts given are more discussion texts. The last, English is important for professional needs because English is needed for everything such as the TOEFL score and confidence in their English which is one of the requirements to continue studying and to become an employee in a company.
