Abstract

The purpose of this article is to understand and analyze critically and sharply about the solidarity’s ethics of Knud Ejler Løgstrup and its implications for the victims of covid-19 in Indonesia. The research method is library research using the hermeneutic method. The results of research showed Løgstrup's thought of solidarity became the basis for solidarity on victims of desease covid-19, solidarity on victims of covid-19 was not just a feeling, it was not normative, always asymmetrical, a moral phenomenon and the hallmark of love.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis aliran etika modern dan beberapa ciri khas etika modern serta beberapa kritik  postmodernisme terhadap etika modern. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian pustaka dengan menggunakan metode hermeneutika. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ciri khas dari etika modern yakni  rasionalitas moral, universalitas moral, dan kemutlakan peraturan moral. Konsep etika modern tersebut dikritisi oleh postmodernisme dengan bertitik tolak pada pandangan etika postmodern. Dalam perspektif postmodernisme, etika secara moral manusia bersifat ambivalen, secara inheren fenomena moral bercorak “non-rasional, secara tak terhindarkan moralitas bercorak aporetik, norma dan praktik moral tidak dapat dimutlakan dan diuniversalisasikan dan moral adalah realitas pertama dari subjek manusia.

Abstract

Artikel ini menganalisis beberapa implikasi epistemologis dari dua aliran epistemologi penting dalam zaman Modern – Rasionalisme dan Empirisme. Studi ini menemukan bahwa keduanya memberikan beberapa kontribusi konseptual terhadap Epistemologi dan menawarkan beberapa kemungkinan habitus atau keutamaan epistemik. Sumbangan-sumbangan tersebut meliputi baik struktur dan proses pembentukan pengetahuan, status kapasitas dari fakultas-fakultas kognitif, dasar metafisik pengetahuan, dan dua tipe penalaran, yakni: penalaran atau pengetahuan logis dan pengetahuan yang bersifat mungkin. Pada akhirnya, kontribusi-kontribusi ini lalu berimplikasi pada beberapa habitus atau keutamaan epistemologis yang bisa dipikirkan dalam rangka hidup sehari-hari, seperti: spirit untuk selalu memelihara keterjalinan dengan segala sesuatu yang dialami sebagai titik berangkat dan jaminan untuk pemahaman dan pengetahuan, memahami kodrat kerja dari kapasitas-kapasitas kognitif sebagai dasar untuk  memahami kodrat pengetahuan yang kita bangun, mengoptimalkan peranan epistemik dari daya kerja memori, kepercayaan dan imajinasi, dan tetap berabstraksi dan membangun penalaran demi kebutuhan untuk pemahaman dan pengetahuan.

Abstract

This article discusses Arendt and Sen’s concept of freedom. The two thinkers discuss this topic in the context of social and political life. The main question that this article addresses is: “What are the similarities and differences between Arend and Sen on freedom?” Using a critical analysis approach, this article argues that although these two thinkers come from different eras their thoughts on freedom have some agreements and specific differences. Their agreement here points to some similarities, supports and connections between their thoughts whereas the different positions here refer to some specific ideas which is mainly due to some specific or peculiar context of their ideas on freedom. The similarity between the two thinkers is that they indirectly agree that freedom is concerned with the capability or all the possible ways to be and to do, and the absence of repressive policies. Nonetheless, Arendt’s reflections on freedom were not in an atmosphere of socio-political emergency marked very seriously poverty, injustice, tyranny, and political pressure. Sen, on the other hand, was precisely in that atmosphere: the problem of welfare, contemporary poverty, injustices, contemporary capitalism.

Abstract

Even though, the problem of the relationship between faith and reason has been a very classical topic in the history of philosophical and theological discussions, the urgency to keep on discussing the interrelationship between these two matters remains. The idea is that, at the core of the debates made of the connection of the two capacities, it is always concerned with the fundamemtal elements of human existence itself, which is, the problem of the sources of knowledge and understanding, truth, experience, understanding, knowledge and the fullness of human existence itself. This articles disucesses these points the document of Fides et Ratio implies. The idea is that, behind of John Paul II’s points of the relationship of these two, there are some philosophical elements which one can find and discuss. As previously mentioned, those ideas are the problem of truth and certainty, the status of reason and experience as the sources of knowledge, the problem of knowing and understanding, the problem of meaning and values and finally the problem of the fullness of human existence.
