Abstract

Animated is one of the film genre that is used as a tool of education for children. One of the animated series that is popular in Indonesia is Masha and the Bear. The friendship that exists between Masha and the bear is closely related to each other. This research focuses on examining the story of Masha and the bear's friendship in the episode entitled "Hopefully Get Well Soon" and the episode "/Sweet Life". This study used descriptive qualitative method. The theory used is semiotics and friendship. The results of the research findings reveal the value of friendship between Masha and the bear in four components of friendship, namely familiarity in interaction, trust between each other, acceptance in attitude and social, and support provided by both parties in a friendly relationship.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze social criticism in the Russian television series Лучше, Чем Люди (Better than Us) by Andrey Junkovsky. With a dystophia theme, this study focusing on criticism of human dependence on robotic technology. The data used in this study is a cut scene which is then analyzed by a descriptive analytical method with a semiotic theory by Roland Barthes. The research was conducted by looking at the meaning of denotations and connotations in the Russian television series Лучше, Чем Люди. This study argues that there are 11 scenes that depict human dependence on robotic technology. This is the social criticism in series Лучше, Чем Люди by Andrey Junkovsky.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas hubungan tokoh Rudin dan Natalya dalam novel Rudin karya Ivan Turgenev (1856) sebagai suatu bentuk cinta romantik. Tujuan dari artikel ini untuk menemukan elemen-elemen pendukung terbentuknya suatu jenis cinta dengan menggunakan tiga komponen teori segitiga cinta oleh Robert J. Sternberg, yaitu keintiman, hasrat, dan komitmen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode strukturalisme semiotik Andreas Teeuw untuk memaknai kalimat terkait perjalanan cinta Rudin dan Natalya dalam novel Rudin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bentuk cinta yang digambarkan oleh Ivan Turgenev melalui Rudin dan Natalya adalah bentuk cinta romantik dengan adanya kehadiran komponen keintiman dan komponen hasrat.

Abstract

This research discusses the image of Russian women in the short story entitled Вера/Vera by Evgeniya Nekrasova. The aim of this research is to determine the image of Russian women in the Soviet era through analysis of the characters in the short story. This research uses descriptive analytical methods. Then it is complemented by an approach to intrinsic and extrinsic elements. The theories used are character-characterization and existentialist feminism. The author sees that the short story entitled Вера/Vera by Evgeniya Nekrasova presents a new view regarding how the younger generation of Russians view the image of Russian women in the Soviet era. Thus, this research shows the image of Soviet women through the female characters in the short story Вера/Vera, namely Vera and Tonya who are intelligent, hardworking, strong, adaptive, firm, disciplined, and caring in getting through the conflicts in their lives that occurred during the Soviet era.

Abstract

Novel is able to present the development of one character, complex social situations, relationships involving many or few characters, and complicated events that occurred several years ago in detail. Novel The King was written by Iksana Banu, an famous Indonesian author and artist. He published the novel in 2017. The King tell the story about people who work in Kretek Cigarette factory. They have to struggle how to defend the cigarette factory from competition with other factories, and worldwide economic depression. The main character, Philip Gerardus Rechterhand, a Dutch man who borned in Indonesia. Intrinsic (character and setting), and extrinsic (sociology of literature, personality theory, and history) approaches are using to analyze this research. Kretek become part of society life, and many people have economic dependence on the kretek factory.

Abstract

(Title: Revolutioning Communication in Novel "Kekasih Terjauh" by Dwitasari). The rapid development of technology is running these days. Progress in communication technology make communication between individuals easier and more convenient. The requirement for social interaction causes everyone need communication. Communication and literary works cannot be separated. The way of communication changes with the times. Language as an important element in literature also changes. There is internet which is change our perception about communication. This research will discuss the communication that occurs between the characters in the novel "Kekasih Terjauh" by Dwitasari. The problem in this research is about the revolutioning communication used by the characters in the novel "Kekasih Terjauh". While the purpose of this research is to determine the the revolutioning communication that is taking place in the novel "Kekasih Terjauh". The methodology used is descriptive analysis with literature study as a data collection technique. This research uses theory of character, setting, communication, and also sociology of literature.Keywords: communication, internet, revolution, technology
