Abstract

Kemampuan representasi matematis dibutuhkan siswa dalam memahami materi dan menyelesaikan soal. Fakta menunjukkan diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis kemampuan representasi matematis siswa SMP kelas VIII pada materi segiempat. Metode penelitian yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes tertulis, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan catatan peneliti. Teknik analisis data dillakukan dengan model analisis Milles dan Huberman. Subjek penelitian adalah enam orang siswa SMP kelas VIII. Hasil penelitian menunjukan representasi visual dikuasai siswa tetapi ketika diberikan kasus lain siswa tidak bisa menjawab, representasi gambar hanya dikuasai oleh beberapa siswa karena sebagian lainnya kurang percayaan diri, representasi persamaan atau ekspresi matematika hanya dikuasai oleh satu orang siswa karena sebagian besar siswa tidak memahami bagaimana pengerjaan materi yang terdapat pada soal, dan pada representasi kata dapatĀ  dikuasai oleh semua siswa, tetapi ketika diberikan kasus lain siswa tidak bisa menjawab karena tidak tahu bagaimana pengerjaan soal yang digunakan.Mathematical representation skills are needed in understanding the material and solving problems. The facts show that efforts are needed to improve students' mathematical representation abilities. This research aims to analyze the mathematical representation ability of VIII grade junior high school students on quadrilateral material. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques were carried out through written tests, interviews, documentation, and researcher notes. The data analysis technique was carried out using the Milles and Huberman analysis model. The research subjects were six grade VIII junior high school students. The results showed that visual representations were mastered by students but when given other cases students could not answer, image representations were only mastered by some students because others lacked confidence, representations of equations or mathematical expressions were only mastered by one student because most students did not understand how to work. the material contained in the questions, and the word representation can be mastered by all students, but when given another case students cannot answer because they do not know how to work on the questions used.
