Abstract

Number of proboscis monkey population in Cajuputi Swamp Forest is 258 individual. This population is strongly influenced by condition of its habitat which is to degradation to 3.417 hektar. The object of research is to analyzed structure of proboscis monkey population. Method of research are river survey (Sha et al, 2008) and concentration count (Anonymous, 1981; Alikodra, 2002). The avarage density of proboscis monkey in their homerange is 3 individuals/hectares, with 30,2% males and 48,5 % females. This population is slow growth because there is only one baby/year, this is also indicated by number of 14 individuals babies (5,4%) and 41 infant (15,9%) lower when compared to number of adult indiviuals, so it is very worryng for continued growth of the population.

Abstract

Ciung Wanara Cultural Reserve (CWCR) is one of famous habitat of Long Tailed Monkeys (LTM). The existence of LTM is one of tourist attraction. But LTM in CWCR became depend on feed by tourists. This condition caused of pattern behaviour of LTM. The objective of this research is to know pattern behaviour of LTM in CWCR. The method of research is councentration count. The result of research is showing of LTM group. There are 4 groups of LTM in CWCR (Pangcalikan, Cikahuripan, Pamangkonan and Patimuan). The LTM pattern behaviour depends on alpha male of group. The pattern sleeping behaviour of LTM group is from the sleeping tree to returns to its sleeping tree. So, there is not overlap of each group, because source of feed, water and cover of LTM is sufficient. Keys words: Pattern behaviour, Long Tail Monkeys, Cultural Reserve

Abstract

Owa jawa (Javan gibbon) is one of endemic primate of West Java that is vulnerable to extinction. In connection with the decline in the species population, conservation efforts need to be taken immediately, one of the supporting aspects is information about daily activities. The object of research is to identify the daily activities of javan gibbon in Javan Primate Rehabilitation Centre Ciwidey, West Java. The method of resesarch is recording of activities of each individual is carried out for seven days at intervals of 5 minutes. The result is javan gibbon daily activities in the Javan Primate Rehabilitation Center were 5945 times carried out by 3 javan gibbon individuals with eight observed activities, are eating, drinking, moving, grooming, urination, defecation, sound and rest, which began at 06.00 WIB and ended in the afternoon at 16.00 WIB. The number of daily activities from the highest to the lowest are 2596 times (43.66%) mobile activity, 2189 times (36.82%) resting activities, 593 meals (9.97%), 353 times grooming (5.93%), vote 95 times (1.59%), urinate 44 times (0.74%), drink 39 times (0.65%) and defecate 36 times (0.60%).

Abstract

Gandaria (Bouea macrophylla Griff) is the identity flora of West Java Province. Naturally, the gandaria habitat in West Java is found only in the Yan Lapa Nature Reserve (CAYL) and Dungus Iwul Nature Reserve (CADI). In the ecosystem of CADI, and CAYL the position of gandaria in the community shows a low level of dominance. The presence of invasive species in CAYL and CADI is feared will threaten the stability of ecosystems in the region in the future including the presence of native flora. This study aims to study the level of tolerance and adaptation of gandaria in nature by knowing the pattern of individual spread in the gandaria population and the type of gandaria association with other species in various environmental. This is interesting to study because of the limited efforts of species conservation and genetic conservation of gandaria, while the condition of the natural population is increasingly threatened. Individual distribution patterns in gandaria populations in CADI and CAYL are random and clustered. Gandaria at Dungus Iwul Nature Reserve and Yan Lapa Nature Reserve are positively associated with iwul, whereas the Hawuan is negatively associated. Gandaria is not associated with asam keranji, manii, kokopian, leungsir, putat, and teureup. However, gandaria is not with menteng monyet dan kitulang in CADI while in CAYL have positive position.
