Abstract

Understanding Max Weber's thoughts on the life of capitalism in Indonesia is not an easy job because it requires in-depth observation in its implementation. Therefore, the problem in this study is what exactly is Max Weber's concept of the Protestant Ethic and the spirit of modern capitalism and is it still relevant to be actualized in Indonesia? The finding is that Max Weber's concept of Protestant ethics is the doctrine of predistination, asceticism, good manners, hard work, frugal living, use of time, money and wealth. The spirit of modern capitalism that is developing now is the rationalization of capitalism based on scientific principles and the development of personal wealth, production for the market, production for the masses. The relevance of Max Weber's thoughts about the spirit of capitalism applied in Indonesia is progressive because the spirit of capitalism is related to cultural values or human life. Max Weber's concept of Capitalism encourages the Indonesian people to take rationalization and innovation and be creative.

Johan Galtung added the need for the abolition of construction to the need to eliminate physical violence and war. Indonesia's active participation in world peace is also realized in the positive reality of peace, namely the realization of a sense of security and economic justice from the existing system to eliminate racial, ethnic and religious discrimination based on social. This is supported by the philosophical existence of a culture of peace in several regions in Indonesia, namely 1). Pela Gandong in Maluku as an alliance system between villages based on a pledge of blood friendship, 2). In Javanese society, the term, namely tepa selira, shows us not to do something to other people, nor do we want to be treated like that, 3). In the Fak-Fak community, it is known as the motto of one three stone stove, 4). philosophic culture of Hambor in Manggarai through traditional rituals, 5). Chinese cultural philosophy, namely Ping. To prevent conflict in Indonesia, it is necessary to provide training and education in a culture of peace through schools and campuses in order to support the business climate in this country.

The analysis of the phenomenon of the implementation of the Christian education example refers to the concept of Christian education goals inherited by Martin Luther and the theory developed by Merril Evert about the implementation models of Christian education. The results of the author's research in this article are 1). Establishment of a Christian school with passion without capital support; 2). Establishment of Christian schools with money without being supported by conceptual knowledge of establishing Christian educational institutions; 3). Christian education institutions that are oriented towards hegemony (power) without having an orientation towards the development of quality education; 4) development of educational institutions that do not have professional human resources in dealing with educational administration. 5). Christian education with high spirituality is supported by very strong capital. The concept of Christian education that Martin Luther wanted was oriented towards understanding and knowledge of the word, attitudes based on the Bible, students, curriculum, libraries. This concept is always actual from time to time. And the contribution of Christian education in supporting development has become a part of showing its existence as a pluralist society in Indonesia
