Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh karbohidrat mudah larut (dedak padi) sebagai pakan tambahan pada kambing Peranakan Etawah (PE) terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan nutrien dengan metode indikator internal. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Keempat perlakuan tersebut yaitu: perlakuan A (rumput lapangan); B (rumput lapangan + 75 g dedak padi); C (rumput lapangan + 150 g dedak padi); dan D (rumput lapangan + 225 g dedak padi). Tiap ulangan terdiri dari satu ekor kambing. Rumput lapangan dan air minum diberikan secara ad libitum, sedangkan dedak padi diberikan sekali dalam sehari yaitu pagi hari sesuai perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya tambahan dedak padi menyebabkan peningkatan secara nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kecernaan bahan kering, bahan organik, dan jumlah protozoa cairan rumen, namun peningkatan terhadap kecernaan protein kasar berbeda tidak nyata (P>0,05). Kecernaan serat kasar menurun secara tidak nyata (P>0,05) pada perlakuan B, dan terjadi penurunan yang nyata (P<0,05) pada perlakuan C dan D. Pemberian dedak padi menurunkan pH cairan rumen tetapi penurunan tersebut secara statistik berbeda tidak nyata (P>0,05). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa tambahan dedak padi pada pakan dapat meningkatkan kecernaan bahan kering, bahan organik, protein kasar, dan jumlah protozoa cairan rumen, sebaliknya menurunkan kecernaan serat kasar dan pH cairan rumen. THE EFFECT OF SOLUBLE CARBOHYDRATE (RICE BRAN) AS A FEED SUPPLEMENT TO ETAWAH CROSSBREED GOAT TO THE DRY MATTER AND NUTRIENT DIGESTIBILITY WITH INTERNAL INDICATOR METHOD ABSTRACT The research was aimed to know the effect of soluble carbohydrate (rice bran) as a feed supplement to etawah crossbreed goat to the dry matter and nutrient digestibility with internal indicator method. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replicates, and each replicate consists of one goat. The four treatments were treatment A (native grass), B (native grass + 75 g rice bran), C (native grass + 150 g rice bran) and D (native grass + 225 g rice bran). The native grass were given ad libitum twice times a day in the morning and in the afternoon, besides the rice bran were given once a day in the morning according to the treatments, and drinking water were given ad libitum. Variables observed were dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber digestibility, pH and total protozoa of liquid rumen.Results of the research indicated that the dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility and total protozoa of liquid rumen were increase significantly (P<0.05) by the rice bran supplementation, as well as crude protein digestibility but statistically not significant different (P>0.05). Treatments C and D were decrease significantly (P<0.05) and treatment A was not significant different (P>0.05) to the crude fiber digestibility. Rice bran supplementation caused pH of liquid rumen was decrease but not significant different statistically (P>0.05). It can be concluded that rice bran increased the dry matter, organic mater, crude protein digestibility, and total protozoa of liquid rumen, but decreased the crude fiber digestibility and pH of liquid rumen.

Abstract

Pengotan Village is geographically located at an altitude of 800 – 1100 m with an average temperature of 28°C . Problems faced in the provision of forage feed is the fluctuating forage production during the rainy and dry seasons, so the quatity and quality of forage that offering is hard to fulfill to ruminant especially bali cattle. Diversification of forage for ruminants is needed to: 1) overcoming the obstacle of forage availability due to limited land for cultivation of forage feed, 2) improve the forage quality through combination of grass and legumes as a source of forage, so that the nutritional needs of ruminants can be met, and 3) reduce the influence of antinutritional on certain forages through diversification of forage because it could be the limiting factor if given in excessive amount to ruminant especially bali cattle. Methods of activities carried out through counseling and discussion, making demoplot forage and seed deployment especially introduce grass and legum to be developed in Pengotan Village. The service was attended by 18 participants and attended by representatives from the village office, socialization and counseling were carried out on the diversification of forage sources to increase the availability and quality of forage feed. In the service activity, demonstration plots for planting forage and dissemination of forage such as dwarf elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott), Clitoria ternatea and Centrosema pubescens which were carried out together with farmers. Keywords: forage diversification, grass, leguminose, bali cattle
