Abstract

The Green Revolutions failure caused many farmer groups to cease their activities, even though they had to fulfill many needs. This situation created a need to develop a model for group survival. With those afore mentioned background, this research was conducted. Data was collected in September and October 2005 involving rice, soybean, corn and vegetables farmer groups in the east, central and west Java. The research findings pointed out that there was a relationship between the group survival and their adaptation, goal attainment, integration and latency functions. The group survival rates were higher in central and east Java than in west Java. Additionally, the vegetable and rice farmer group survival rates were higher than the soybean and corn farmer groups. The adaptation, the goal attainment and the integration functions were more strategic for farmer groups in the west and east Java and also for vegetable farmer groups such as soybean and corn group wereas the strategic function were adaptation and integration.

Abstract

Agroforestry farmers are generally less empowered and relatively poor. This is because of their dependance  on government programs. Informal leaders are one of the driving factors to improve farmers' empowerment. The power of informal leaders' influence is in line with the level of leadership in affecting the empowerment of farmers. Informal leadership will have more impacts on agroforestry farmers when it is supported by optimal forestry extension. This study aims to analyze the influence of forestry extension on the role of informal leadership to the community surrounding the national park. The research was conducted in Kuningan and Majalengka Districts, West Java Province,  which was held from July to October 2017. The method used was cluster random sampling technique with cluster location of agroforestry forest farmer group in the buffer zone of Gunung Ciremai National Park area. Data were collected by households survey on 310 agroforestry farmers. The results showed that informal leadership roles were low. This is due to the low support of forestry extension are indicated by forestry extension competency, activities, methods, materials and intensity of forestry extension. Factors of forestry extension agent's competencies and extension intensity have a major influence on the role of informal leadership.

Abstract

Peran pemuda begitu penting dalam kemajuan suatu bangsa, karena pemuda dapat berperan sebagai agen perubahan dalam pembangunan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik individu, nilai karakter Pancasila, pelaksanaan program karang taruna, dan dukungan penyuluhan terhadap keterpenuhan kebutuhan dan keberdayaan sosial anggota karang taruna. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan wawancara sebanyak 61 orang responden anggota karang taruna di Desa Tamanrahayu dan Kertarahayu Kecamatan Setu Kabupaten Bekasi Provinsi Jawa Barat pada bulan Maret-Juni 2023. Sampel penelitian diambil secara purposive berdasarkan keaktifan, kesediaan, dan lamanya menjadi anggota karang taruna. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa kuesioner dengan metode wawancara langsung kepada responden. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterpenuhan kebutuhan anggota di kedua karang taruna dalam kategori yang sama tinggi, tetapi untuk keberdayaan sosial, Karang Taruna Tamanrahayu lebih tinggi daripada Kertarahayu. Keterpenuhan kebutuhan anggota karang taruna dipengaruhi oleh nilai karakter Pancasila dan pelaksanaan program karang taruna, sedangkan keberdayaan sosial anggota karang taruna dipengaruhi oleh dukungan penyuluhan.
